Poor Schache. He's been a Demon for five minutes and has already assumed the mantle of whipping boy. Let's reserve judgement until we see how he goes next year.32 points

Firstly, let me congratulate the Dees for another extraordinary trade period. For those wanting to know who the KPF Melbourne is after. Its Mitch Georgiades. We have super currency next year. 2 firsts and 3 second round draft picks when Mitch is out of contract. We will continue to go hard for him. As I said before, the club thinks they can get him. They think he and JVR are the two-pronged KPF for the future. No doubt if Mitch is unattainable, they will look elsewhere for the medium-term missing piece of the puzzle. Again, congratulations to the recruiting team.25 points

Given our draft hand for next year we'll never use a future 4th so the cost is nothing and he replaces a player that got us pick 37. Most don't rate either. Good trading I say.22 points

We now have 24 players who played in the 2021 Grand Final on our list. We had 23 on the day the game was played.20 points

We may not be done! Apart from likely departure of Weeds we are working hard on a KPF. Brace for a possible 6pm surprise!18 points

Hunt is AFL standard. He played 40 games over past 2 seasons in a side that finished 1st and 2nd after the H&A.17 points

Can play, can gut run and can hit a kick inside 50 he immediately fills a required starting 18 position on the wing. The low pick, lower coin is the balance of the risk we are taking on his prior alleged off field challenges.15 points

Tim Lamb comments are spot on I reckon “We don't get tied up in the minutiae of every little deal, which I think is an approach that we take, which allows us to get deals done generally in a timely fashion. “If you look at Luke (Jackson) going out, Brodie’s come in. We've lost Jayden Hunt as a free agent and Lachie Hunter comes in. Kade Chandler will come up from the rookie list to replace Toby Bedford, who we lost. Sam Weideman goes out, Josh Schache comes in. Then we've got a much-improved draft hand.”14 points

As long as Kosi is in no way involved in a trade for Georgiades next year I’m happy.14 points

Back in the day, my ability to get nicotine from a durry into my lungs was elite.14 points

I have always wanted a player with an elite ability to get oxygen into their muscles.14 points

Remember, we didn't start this trade period with pick 27, we traded for it. So it's actually 33, 43 and 53 for Grundy (with Collingwood paying some of his salary). But if you believe the club, we had no intention of ever using 43 and 53. Which really mean, when it all boils down to it, we spent pick 33 and got Grundy (with Collingwood paying some of his salary). Will it work? Who knows. I'm keen to find out. We're paying a reasonably large contract to get him, but we certainly spent very little draft capital compared to his established talent.14 points

Him and Oliver grew up playing junior representative footy in regional Victoria. They're very close mates and so are their families. I remember when I had a fair bit of involvement in Schache's last year in the Murray Bushrangers and we all thought he was going to be a future star forward of the competition in years to come. His work rate and especially endurance levels was pretty elite as a roaming CHF in the same style as Travis Cloke. The talent is certainly there and unlike some I'm bullish about him considering he's been at a club with poor culture (doggies) where there's been some culture issue which has resulted in a fair few of their current and ex players all seem to taking personal leave at certain stages. Fresh start, new voice and a coaching staff that is big in wrapping their arms around instead of the opposite.13 points

At least welcome him to the club (or buy him dinner) before you start whacking the kid.13 points

maybe he can teach our boys how to legally throw the ball and legally duck for frees?13 points

I wish the same for Josh as I did for Sam. Get it right above the ears and let’s see how he goes.13 points

Go well Weids. I'm probably more disappointed in losing Weideman then I was with Jackson. I think as supporters we've been far more emotionally invested with Weids. We've all wanted him to make it but at times been extremely frustrated with his on field performance. I think a fresh start will do him well and he's been super gracious his whole career especially this year and last year. All the best.13 points

Once Chocco has finished with Schache, perhaps he could then turn his attention to the Russia -Ukraine conflict, hyperinflation, the worldwide cost of living crisis and the covid pandemic?13 points

When the Football Brains on Demonland say NO,you'll be a 150 game Champion for the Demons Lachie. But,you're not driving the team bus. Welcome Lachie12 points

The other benefit to this is we're potentially not so reliant on Langdon's wing, which teams tried to clamp down on this season. Two wingers that can run all day and cause some damage. That's a big win.12 points

Jeezuz he can run all day, take a mark and is an excellent kick to boot, Tim might have done alright with this one. Just need to get him in with the boys and get his head straight and look out in 2023. I trust our FD to get Lachie firmly into the fold.🙏✅💕12 points

Really like this. And on reflection, think it was they right decision paid in 2021 GF - when he received the free kick then kicked the goal.12 points

Top 10 in the B &F 5 years running. 170 games of experience. The window is open, and we are filling needs for 2023-25. Love it.12 points

I highly rate Hunter. Would be very good having him and Langdon on either side.12 points

Get it done for peanuts Dees. Future 3rd is fine as we likely won't even use it at the draft next year with multiple early picks now. Then tie him to Jack Viney so he is held to the highest standards possible and gets the sh*t kicked out of him if he doesn't!12 points
-
Wild idea, maybe he flourishes at the dees and we get behind him to do so!12 points
-
It was not Shache. If we don't land the KPF we have been targeting I will let DL know at 8:30pm who it is. If we don't get him this year I am certain we will try again next year. He has been on our radar since he was a junior even touring the club as a16yo. We were to take him in our next pick in his draft year but were beaten to him. The club see this player and JVR as the perfect two pronged KPF future.12 points

Call me a silly bugger, but.... I'm more interested in Gawn going back more like 2021 and Grundy being the more aggressive ruckman kicking to (hopefully) JVR, BBB and TMac.12 points

One of my most hated players in the league by a mile. Maybe only Weightman and Selwood (retired) ahead of him. Let’s get him anyway.11 points

Hunter has been a star of the competition. Best and fairest winner in front of Bont and McCrae. Regular 35 + possession winner. Racked up competition high uncontested possessions in 2016 but also notched up 10 tackles a game on occasion. Premiership player. Future third rounder! Good business.10 points

Well if Dogs are paying part of Hunter's wage, and Pies are paying part of Treloar's wage, then effectively Pies are paying for part of both Hunter and Grundy. Thanks Eddie.9 points

Invite Hunter to Entrecote tonight, if he makes it out alive, sign him up!9 points

From a poster on Bigfooty, no idea if the poster is reliable " Hunter will be a Demon by the end of the day. Turned down the Saints and there is no contract extension, as he is contracted for 2 more years. Best asset is is hard running. His VO2max score at age 18 was the best I have seen in a non-alpinist. Basically his ability to get oxygen from the air into his muscles is elite. I am not sure If you guys are getting Schache yet…. Will let you know IF I can."9 points

I think Dazzle mentioned this earlier in the thread. Hawthorn are positioning themselves for early picks next year, but are going down the path we did, which was a disaster, where we shed all our experienced players. You can't expect a bunch of kids to lead the way immediately. You need some experience. If Mitchell and O'Meara go, they're in big trouble I reckon, on top of Gunston already out the door, and the spectre of the racism affair hanging over the club.9 points
