Whether posters think he is ready or not it is bloody exciting to have Salem back. When I think of him I think of his first quarter of the GF...what a player!15 points

Gotta feel for Bedford. I thought he was very good when he had opportunities last week.10 points

Disagree. Hunt has done a superb job locking down small forwards. Hibbo is unfortunately on his last legs.8 points

Cool your jets, Werridee. That last sentence is completely out of line and unnecessary. We're all on the same side here.8 points

Results from Round 9, 1975. The mighty Dees beating Fitzroy. My cousin, Gary Hardeman in the best players.7 points

Hunt's role is the small opposition forward. That's not Hibberd's go - last season he took the dusty type ie strong, medium size. Hunt will likely go to papley.7 points

Why? He's a father son so we have first dibs. Plus we will likely be finishing top 8 next year so if he goes top 10 we essentially get that for a (hopefully) pick 18 plus some change.7 points

Doesn’t surprise me; we just look like we are waiting more and being more patient and letting teams ‘crash against the rocks’ so to speak and the tide goes the other way. My read, and of course I may be wrong, is that this a tweak for the season to save our legs as it is unsustainable to do for 25 games a year again. But I say this with a warning - flirting with one’s form and game plan comes with the risk that it is difficult to ramp up again. I understand we have other ways to kill teams but pressure is a final winning trait.6 points

Yeahhhh I'm probably not going to pay much attention to your injury 'information'...6 points

Was named BOG yesterday for Oakleigh Chargers gathering 25 disposals and kicking 1.3 This is a pretty fine display for an under-ager.6 points

All the exact like-for-like changes I was expecting, although I expected Salem to have a kick at Casey first. Other than May/Thommo, it’s an upgrade in every case. Looking forward to this now.5 points

I love it! Getting back to something closer to our best. Plenty of time for the oft mentioned synergies to develop …….. besides, our MC know what they are doing!5 points

5 changes Rivers Out with Melk and Weid. Salem Thommo, Harmes,TMac and Ed Langdon all back Riv has been quite poor for a while. Deserves a spell5 points

Times like this I am glad we lost last week. If we won, the talk we would - the Unbeatable Demons, can anyone beat them? will they go 22-0 etc. although would not pay attention to this noise, some of it does seep in After losing I am massively fired up to see us win this weekend, more than any week this year5 points

We have "allowed" more marks than eagles, kangaroos, bombers. A few oppositon teams have chipped it around in their back half leads to a low pressure rating. I think that's the cause.5 points

Had the no. 33 on my back, before GH retired and I switched to no. 2 (obviously). Great player. Didn’t see many wins back then though!5 points

An enduring disgrace that Goodwin didn't get the opportunity to speak after the Grand Final. A high point of his and our lives ruined by Basil Z - a complete peanut5 points

Salem is simply not a VFL player If he his match fit and available he is in the team. Simple as that. He will probably take time to build up to 100% match fitness but it will happen in the firsts.4 points

I am astounded Salem is in. 5 mins in first game the ten weeks on the side lines with a knee injury a large part of which would involve no running. Hope to God they have this right as he is our best kick and we have sorely missed him the last 10 weeks.4 points

Nick Smith. He will be a good player for us once he gets over that injury. Any week now .4 points

I would heartily recommend the Dyl and Friends interview with Nathan Jones - absolutely fascinating. No doubt that Jonesy's greatest achievement was being the unheralded prop for our football club, whilst the major cultural changes were taking place. It's almost bittersweet irony that he shouldered the burden all the way to the Grand Final and ultimately missed out on what most would consider the greatest prize. On the contrary - the greatest prize will ultimately be the knowledge that he sacrificed money and personal glory and was instead guided by his own moral compass, to help forge possibly the greatest chapter in our club's history.4 points

I think team will be: In: TMac, Harmes, Langdon & Tomlinson Out: Weid, Melksham, Dunstan and May Give Salo a week in the VFL to get some touch back and then he can come in the following week. B: Hunt Tomlinson Lever HB: Rivers Petty Brayshaw C: Langdon Oliver Jordon HF: Fritsch TMac Harmes F: Pickett Brown Neal-Bullen R: Gawn Petracca Viney Int: Sparrow Jackson Bowey Spargo Sub: Bedford4 points

What a leader Goodwin has become. Having the guts to talk about his mental health and how he copes with the stress will help countless people. Showing some vulnerability to the players and coaches makes him approachable and able to really connect with the group4 points

Kynan Brown had another good day at the weekend according to Rookie Me Central - #44 Kynan Brown In just his second NAB League outing, the bottom-aged Melbourne father-son candidate topped his side’s disposal chart with 25, including four scoring shots. After a steady start, he began to come to prominence with in-and-under work at the contest, producing second and third efforts aplenty to help will the ball out. He also provided a good deal of drive in the second half, bursting forward and kicking a clutch goal to draw level in the final quarter. That touch of polish is something Brown can refine going forward, though his effort was evident4 points

The absolute nerve of challenging the suspension should be worth an extra 2 or 3 weeks. A missed opportunity for the AFL to show the public that a big name is not an automatic downgrade of said charge. A 4 week penalty would have been a lovely "[censored] you" to Franklin and the Swans. As would a 1 week ban for Cotchin being a total [censored].4 points

People talk about Hird as a narcissist. He has nothing on Zempilas. A prototypical media personality-turned-politician. May the grand final never again be played in a location that is accessed by that complete [censored].4 points

We are no 1 for tackles inside 50. Which is a great stat to have However, I don't think 2-way defensive running = pressure. And i think our two way running is still elite.3 points

I think we'll be giving Salem a run at VFL level and Hibberd at least another run (or 2) there as well. So Tomo comes in for May, then TMac for Weid, Langdon for Melksham and Harmes for Bedford (back to sub role).3 points

My thought is they probably don’t see Joel Smith as having the footy smarts for KPF, and that a ‘role-playing’ defensive structure suits him better long term. Could be true. Also, I suspect he’d be seen as more fitting the Bailey Fritsch position, who has footy-smarts on tap, and was wasted down back (drove me crazy that they weren’t playing him forward). Nonetheless, If it were up to me, I’d give JS a go up forward (knowing he also has the defensive chops), and Weid down back. Still think Harry Petty is David Neitz-esque, and will end up as our next power forward,3 points

Personally i'm glad Buddy isn't playing. No match-up with May out. He has an x-factor and quite capable of kicking 3-4 goals against us so our chances of winning are 10-15% better with him suspended.3 points

I think you only had to look at the vision and ask one simple question. Is this what we want to see happen in a game? Game over Buddy3 points

You say that as if the MRP has displayed any sort of consistency when it involves high profile players including Franklin in the past. Short memory.3 points

I 100% understand it is not about draft pick number. Have another look at the post I was responding to. Kent'was implying JT messed up by picking Weideman and not McKay or Curnow. Drating is a bit of a lottery as my examples showed. Draftees don't always work out as the club or fans would like.3 points

Yeah, I had the same issue. His evenness is now part of his success. Really is perfect for the modern footballer. They don’t want a rollicking coach - they want a calm mentor with consistent messaging and empathy.3 points

JT can't get every pick right. In that 2015 draft: #2 Josh Schache - Key forward. Played 68 games. Not tin regular 22. Trade to WB #6 Aaron Francis - Key forward. Played 54 games. Not in regular 22. In the 2014 draft: #1 Paddy McCartin - Key forward. Played 45 games. At Sydney And neither does everyone else. Overall JT has done a fantastic job!!3 points

Completely agreed. Furthermore if we don't keep giving the likes of JJ and Sparrow games, we are really doing ourselves a disservice, as we need to keep developing the next generation of midfielders. We don't have great depth in this area and IMO Sparrow has all the makings of a very very good inside mid who can also go outside and impact the scoreboard. He can be anything, but he needs time to develop and he won't have a better chance to develop than under 2 of the best mids in the competition (not to mention the best ruck duo and Viney protecting him). He is contributing each and every week, and even if he has a quiet game, he deserves to maintain his spot, especially as there is nobody at Casey knocking the door down in this role (and I would pick Sparrow over Dunstan every single day of the week).3 points
