  1. I’ve kept quiet on here since I joined - the nuances of the modern game are so far removed from what I grew up with in early 60’s Melbourne that I feel under-qualified to comment in depth - but I truly believe our time has come. I fell in love with the Demons back then, I was there in ‘64 and I’ll be shouting at my tv with the rest of you here in England. Finals start tomorrow and it’s our time folks.

  3. My WhatsApp group all went to bed at half time. Sat downstairs on my own and thought ‘here we go again’. Burst into tears when the siren went. No one to celebrate with but I cried happy tears. So proud ❤️💙

  9. We've finally broken through. For so many years, we've been laughed at, dismissed, forgotten. Mentally fragile? Yep. Inconsistent? Hell yeah. To do this against the Cats, at their home, with some dodgy AF umpiring at the end (that deliberate call was hot garbage right after the missed call against the Cats) is HUGE. Changing of the guard. So... After 57 long years, we finish the year on top. It doesn't mean everything obviously and the stats say we won't win the flag as minor premiers, but stats and history be damned, we are no longer tied to our past failures, or our ageing legacy. This is finally a future we are building from the ground up. So proud of the boys. New rules. Here we come.

  13. The one thing to look forward to while I wait to hear if my husband is out of work (as are all his employees) for the foreseeable future due to further lockdowns. Can’t say this game is at the forefront of my mind but I am really hoping we can win and bring a much needed bit of joy to many Melbourne supporters stuck in Covid hell.

  16. Clayton Oliver is surely the best midfielder this club has ever had After getting smashed in the second quarter he absolutely set the standard for us to pull that back in the last quarter What a superstar

  19. Thats the first time ive seen Max spend more time looking at the goals when kicking instead of the ball. Captains goal to save the season. That has to be one of the best wins at kardinia or anywhere. We are the real deal.

  22. Gawn the umpires pet? Goodness me… what gives them that opinion. Max is the most interfered with and not rewarded player in the league at times.

  24. Still recovering. I can not believe what I witnessed. We were gone in the second half. I thought it was over. What a fight back. It’s so often the other way (us giving up leads and losing). This will be a game we’ll be talking about for years. Redemption for Max Gawn after 2018. Minor premiers for the first time since 1964. The first time in my and all my brother’s lifetimes. So proud of this club ❤️

  25. Oliver: I hope Max doesn’t hook it. Danger: Um um, if he kicks it the coaches award is yours and you’re probably taking Charlie home too.

  29. They've done this to us so, so, so many times over the years. To do it in return at their ground, in the last round of the year, to secure the minor premiership? With big Maxy saving his goalkicking for after the siren! Now let's get the premiership proper! GO DEES

  30. Is there a more hateable team than Geelong? Hawkins, Scott, Dalhaus, Rohan, Selwood, Dangerfield, grian miers’ hair, the umpires , did I mention Scott (worth another one anyway along with that germ Selwood). I’ll bet even their property steward has some annoying tendency. Top to bottom they’re punchable. I’d be surprised if anyone except the fans and player’s parents like them. Santa probably even skips their homes and I wouldn’t blame him.

  31. I'm bloody emotional. Take a bow Simon Goodwin. This is absolutely on you in being able to motivate the players to get back into the game. To our leaders, Max, Lever, Oliver, Petracca were all immense! Was really strong throughout the game that they simply needed to stand up and they did. Season 2 starts now. By Monday morning my attention turns straight to Brisbane. Soak it up lads. We're bloody minor premiers since 1964 💙❤

  32. Dear lord. What was that. Let's be clear: we were the better side for all bar 20 minutes. Geelong played 20 perfect minutes of football and I thought we were going to lose top spot because of just 20 minutes. But the better team won. I'm sure there will be some on here who will say we over-reacted to that win but IMO it may well be the greatest H&A win we've ever had (surely top 5), secured top spot after a tough year, gets us control over our finals destiny, and beat Geelong in the process. The reaction IMO shows the unity of our side and how much we want to win, and want to be successful and relevant. Oliver should have just sewn up the AFLCA award and may have grabbed a Brownlow too. That was an elite performance. It's no coincidence that our A-graders were the ones who were down in the second quarter (Gawn got belted, Lever/May owned, Oliver/Petracca nowhere to be seen), but simultaneously where the ones who dragged us back into it. Gawn got back on top, Lever and May in the second half rectified all their poor form, and Petracca lifted. This could be a watershed moment for this club. I'm so proud, but mindful that we have to reset now because a minor premiership isn't the real thing.

  33. 7.8 magnitude Earthquake here in South East Qld,apparently 2 million Brisbane people just crapped their pants. Seriously,i've never seen any team flick the switch like that and smash a team in contested possession, when we decided it was time, they didn't stand a chance. Maxy to seal the minor Premiership!!!!!!!!! Clayton Oliver,no words do you justice,a huge chance for the Brownlow with the Bont not polling the last 3 games

  38. One person decided that their symptoms didn't warrant a test and they would go visit their frail elderly mother in a nursing home anyway. After working to midnight last night my wife and several other staff are currently working for their full weekend to help radically reorganise a large aged care roster, identify who needs to be isolated and where needs to be deep cleaned. This process includes the awful aspect of needing to relocate people with varying levels of dementia. All this is being done in the full human condom PPE outfits. She'll be skipping lunch because it just isn't practical. That story just keeps repeating and repeating everywhere you look in any part of the care sectors. I'm running out of patience for the self-indulgent gits of Australia, whether it is the smug complacent establishment types like Kennett and Hazzard or the parolee social club out 'protesting' on the streets of Melbourne.
