  1. Going by the article on the Dees website, it sounds as though he is over most of the issues and is in a really good head space. So I'm glad he has made the decision to retire. There is no need to get over these symptoms and then go back out there and potentially make it worse than before. All the best in your future endeavours, KK.

  2. shame it turned out like it did, as he was the exact sort of player we need good luck to him in his post-football life

  3. Chandler laid 9 tackles in his one AFL outing as a small forward - that's a seasons worth for Melksham and Fritsch combined.

  4. Correct. Pick #50 is now 'live'. @spirit of norm smithAs KK's retirement is before final list lodgement, he will come off our lists altogether. Similar to Stevens at Geelong. On KK, the club gave him a second chance and every chance to continue his career. A shame it worked out as it did but he has made a good decision. Good Luck to him for the next stage of his life. EDit: kolodjashnij-retires-from-football He seems to be doing well: Pleasingly, Kolodjashnij has overcome his concussion issues and is in a good space. He is now running his own business with his brother Jake, focussing on natural insect repellent. “I am back in a pretty good place now – I am exercising and feeling good physically and mentally,” Kolodjashnij said.

  5. Weideman's 2020, holds up well or even exceeds his draft class. (2) Schache 2 goals. 2 games. (9) Weideman 19 goals. 13 games. (10) McKay. 21 goals. 13 games. (14) Hipwood. 24 goals. 19 games. (16) Himmelberg. 15 goals 16 games. We're probably marking him harshly because he showed so much at the end of 2018, and had a disappointing 2019. His progression this year has been on par with his peers, some of whom are very overrated when you look at their actual output.

  7. Simple solution. In law, where parties are not " ad Idem" or of" one mind", in other words where the terms of a contract are uncertain, it can where possible be set aside. Therefore the Trade is declared void and Treloar returns to the Pies. That threat, would bring a solution to the problem. Player Agents and the Players Association must be furious with the Pies.

  8. No. A top 10 key forward draft pick heading into his 6th season of footy should be assuming the number 1 key forward who attracts the opposition's premier defender, ie - Darcy Moore or Harris Andrews. And we as supporters should have complete confidence that a highly fancied top 10 KPF draft pick will absolutely thrive in that role by season 6. The fact that we got Ben Brown kind of sums up where the Weid is at the moment. A handy second or third KPF but, no where near ready to be "the man".

  9. Far from a bust imv. I think he’s been a victim of forward line malfunction and rubbish delivery over the past couple of years. Once selected and partnered with LJ this season he took his marks and kicked his goals and other than the Hawthorn match kicked pretty straight. As soon as LJ got injured he struggled. Another pre-season under his belt, taking the 2nd defender and adding some mongrel to his game I predict about 40 goals this year. No slack efforts allowed as TMac is waiting in the wings to take his spot. I can’t wait to see him and BB in tandem this season. It’s critical to our success that their partnership is productive.

  12. Very sad to see someone cut down at such a young age. Hope he can recover and improve his quality of life.

  13. Burgess is listed as speaking at the club Forum on Dec 10 so if he is to go it isn't imminent. Clearly Crows want him. They have just recruited Tim Parham (physio) from Arsenal who would have worked there with Burgess for a short while. Apparently, Nicks and Burgess worked at Port at the same time. The closed SA border would not have helped with personal contact with his kids. I'd say the writing is on the wall - just a matter of when. Hopefully after our pre-season is over giving us some time to find a replacement.

  14. Think he was very good this year and has caught up with the pack of KPFs from his draft year. Was surprised by his speed and agility more than anything this year. In past years he seemed to have lumbered around a bit, but he looked more relaxed and loose when moving this year. He still gets to the right spots and once those ones he get his mitts to start to stick, watch out! I’m a believer.

  15. Doesn't wash with me. Don't sign a contract under those circumstances, or move your kids.

  16. Too many variables to put absolutes on it, though I think anyone saying Top 4 is kidding themselves. Maybe next year if all goes well this season, but the distance between us and the genuine Top 4 sides is still a chasm. But what I'd be looking for more than anything is consistency, lack of which was our undoing this year.

  17. I just don’t know how/why the dogs would’ve done this deal without agreeing with the pies at least very close to what they were expecting them each to pay. Given how poorly the pies having been doing with these issues I could picture them doing a “it’s fine let’s just get the picks swap done and we can work out the rest in good faith”. The disgraceful actions of the pies should not go unpunished, they should be barred from trading in players/FA for a year, they’ve got less credibility than Dodoro (and that’s quite an achievement).

  19. 9 tackles would have had him ahead of the following players in 2020: Bennell, Brown, Weideman, Hunt, O McDonald, Jackson and Jetta. They, as a group, averaged nearly 7 games each. And 6 of those were inside 50. As a comparison, that would have had him as the 10th best for us this year. Pickett had the most for us this year with 15 at an average of 1.07 per game. As a team we averaged 8.5 tackles inside 50 per game this year (circumstances notwithstanding). The most we had from any player in a game this year was 4 .... Oliver (Richmond), Petracca (Adelaide), McDonald (North).

  20. Best of luck to KK, I hope his long term health is good. With him retiring does this mean we'll be able to use 4 picks at the draft whereas before we could only use 3 due to list spots?

  22. Everything about his game looks OK except for the fact he rarely takes a one grabber. Fumbles way too much Frankly if he doesn't fire this year he's a bust for mine

  23. Re Mitch Brown, his first game was very average but so too were many others. His last two games were full of sparkle and polish, in particular his last game which recorded 2 Brownlow votes. I would play him any day of the week instead of Melksham who clearly was the coaches pet throughout a very disappointing 2020 and should have been dropped many times. I would not be surprised to see M Brown will feature more prominently as he is a very "Smart" footballer which is something we don't have a lot of!

  24. Admittedly only seen highlights but don't see the resemblance with someone like petracca at all. I remember when petracca got drafted, he was heavier than most keyforwards (i think 8kg heavier than McCartin). Perkins may end up an explosive player but he's about 20kg lighter than Petracca was in his draft year at a simialr height!

  25. A little clarification. Clubs have until Monday Nov 30 to delist players. Then clubs can add players as DFA's until Wednesday Dec 2.

  26. Best of luck to him, unfortunately never had any luck. May be drawing a long bow here, but this tells me we may not be going to trade any of our picks to move up the draft as we now have the exact number of picks as list spots available.

  27. Thank you. Yes. 38 on the list. 34 + 3'A' + 1'B' as you describe. Gives us 4 senior list vacancies and 2 Rookie vacancies. Chart updated for KK's retirement: 4 senior vacancies and 4 draft picks. We may use pick #50, afterall.

  29. I don't see the Chandler retention as being generous, more that he is exactly the type of player we would be looking to draft and we clearly think he has the potential to play a role at AFL level. We struggle for genuine small forwards and defenders with speed. He missed a lot of preseason with a broken arm (otherwise may well have played round 1 as a small forward) then he was switched to defence and apparently had good form in the practice games too. I've liked him as a player each time I've seen him because, even though he is is agile without being lightning quick, he still plays the game with intensity and speed.

  30. No clarity on whether he’ll have to be demoted to a rookie spot and then replaced or whether they’ve got all his payout in to 2020. Although it reads like they might’ve. All largely academic. As for the player - we got the medical report badly wrong. And we so badly that we were prepared to go to 3 years rather than a 1-2 year punt. In fairness other clubs probably thought 1-2 was worth a go so there was likely competition. But the lesson is don’t stuff around with guys with bad concussion histories, it’s not worth it for anyone.

  31. He is mate, know 'Tex' very well from a personal point of view. Not only did I date his sister back in the day, but we then played senior footy together when he was only 15 years old for a year and a half. My younger brother also came through the junior ranks as well so we know Matt and his family well. Unfortunately he's fallen victim to the no VFL this year and having soft tissue injuries as well. Had no consistency this year at all and even throughout pre season who was battling injuries. One of the biggest weaknesses that Tex had to work on was his endurance and consistency throughout games. Would too often drift in and out of games and not really a big ball winner. In saying that, he has huge talent for sure, but just hasn't been able to put it together. I would like to see him have a crack at VFL level, but knowing the country relaxed personality that he has, I wouldn't be surprised if he is back playing in the Hume League next year with us.

  32. If you were Buckley or Fagan, who would you send your best tall defender to from our 2020 team? Weideman was our best tall forward and would demand the best defender. I'd say our acquisition of Brown has more to do with Tom McDonald playing poorly than Weideman. The conventional wisdom is a team needs two KPFs - Brown is there to partner Weid.

  33. I'm trying to understand how this works from a player's perspective for someone told he is being delisted but will be rookied. Before this, those players could put themselves into the draft for anyone else to take, thereby getting another chance on a senior list, knowing the worst case scenario is ending up on the rookie list of the club that just delisted them. Does this change mean that those players won't have the chance of being picked up by another club?

  36. surely this sees KK drop down alongside nieta and then creates another live pick on draft night or at least we'll look to take in 6 A rookies and a senior list of 36 and have more money outside the cap purely for financial benefits?

  37. Clinton called Trump on the night of the election to concede and gave her concession speech by noon the next day. She was obviously devastated but, full credit to her, she took her medicine and the transition was smooth. Trump lost in 2020 because he spent his whole time re-running the 2016 Clinton election, even though Biden is an old, white, male centrist who is an extremely non-threatening candidate. Biden's nothingness as a candidate, in effect, made the election a referendum on Trump and his record, which did not suit him well because he has made a lot of enemies outside his base. Gore actually did concede .... twice! Once early on when the networks called it, which he then had to take back, and then after the court ruling. The second time he promised Bush that he wouldn't take it back again. But that was, obviously, a very different election and much, much, much closer. The Floridian 'hanging chad' and the election coming down to a court ruling based on different counting procedures for them in different counties which produced different results. And that election came down to a single state with a 300 vote margin! The Bush/Gore cases were fought over something very specific (how to treat the ballots imperfectly punched by he voting machines in different counties) which would alter the outcome of the election. The problem here is that Trump's cases aren't based on anything, nor (even if they were) anywhere near large enough to overturn the election results, which would require him to overcome deficits of over a hundred thousand votes across multiple states to win. He's even trying to challenge Michigan, which he lost by 150,000 votes in itself! His lack of concession still (after the result have been very clear for weeks) is a bit sad and it's doing a great deal of damage to the rest of the GOP.

  38. A clearly frustrated Gil Mclachlan ??called a special media conference today to outline plans for a final 7 in 2021. After years of trying to get the AFL creation called GC17 or the Suns into the finals, Gil has outlined how they will automatically finish no lower than 8th. “ The Suns will be playing finals in 2021 “ said Gil ??proudly.” My team will be in the finals for the first time and we can all celebrate”. “After giving my boys, oops the Suns, lots of preferential treatment for years, I’m glad I can cut the BS and just allocate them a finals position “. “ I gave them all the salary room to get Gazza, the top 9 of 15 draft picks in 2011, extra draft concessions, a larger playing list for the past 9 years, extra access to state league players, access to their own Queensland zone, access to NT youngsters and even delivered the Rowell- Anderson combo to clearly show my uneven bias”. Away from the mic, Gil ??was overheard to say he had considered giving them 8 points for a win but that would be clear bias. I know we want a National competition and competitive teams but when are the Suns going to stop getting assistance off the AFL. It was announced today, they can have 49 players compared to 44 at other clubs. All the concessions. It’s wearing thin imv.

  39. Was there a theory on here re KK Jaded that if he stayed on the list then he qualified for medical insurance? His signing has obviously been a complete bust for the Club. It would be great to get a statement from them as to where he is at but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t understand why the need for secrecy

  40. Sorry but who is the best small defender on our list in view of Jets lack of pace? Most Dees fans would have Lockhart by a country mile but our Coach mysteriously dropped him in the last 5/6 games. Why ?? And in true to his form refused to look at him again despite disastrous form by most in Cairns.
