  1. That's just an indisputable fact of nature isn't it? Tom Bugg only had one awful set shot miss last week, because on that occasion I forgot to remind those in the room watching with what a terrible set shot he was. I didn't make that mistake again.

  3. You moan about selection every week. In fact moaning is about all you do. Then we don’t hear [censored] from you when we win and the selections were fine. Until the next lot of selections, rinse and repeat. Download yourself a football manager game, be Lord of the selectors and spare us the whinging and exclaimantion marks.

  4. Lyon says melbourne "needs to explain"... err no they dont. And the last time you got involved in the club dipstick you helped set us back 8 years.

  5. Let’s revisit the ladder after Hawthorn, Richmond and Essendon. Sitting 3rd after wins against Brisbane and North doesn’t count for a lot.

  6. I assume he wasn't included because he's in another league. No? I'll see myself out.

  7. That’s just how the media works. We’ve been complaining since 2014 that he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Then, when he becomes a recognised ‘star’, he starts to get credit, even when he doesn’t deserve it. You've finally made it Neville!

  8. Slightly off topic, but what about this? "Brayshaw’s teammate Oscar McDonald has had a tough start to the season in defence with Ben Brown kicking four goals on him last week, but Lyon backs the 22-year-old to find form." That is utter garbage.

  9. Brayshaw in http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-13/brayshaw-back-for-first-game-of-season The emergencies are Billy Stretch, Mitch Hannan, Sam Weideman and Jayden Hunt.

  10. Skiting time. I cannot recall a time where any team has had three highly talented players like Jesse, Clarry and Tracca who could rotate through the midfield or play as a key position forward. Let's hope that the FD can base a game plan to take maximum advantage of their versatility. Gees I am glad that I posted this on Tuesday in the Hogans Engine thread and that the boys have responded so quickly. It's good to know that they read Demonland.

  14. We haven't traded with Hawthorn much, Lewis is the first player to play for Hawthorn and then Melbourne. The pick we got for Cheney we used on Tom McDonald, handy upgrade.

  15. It’s a disgrace that the government use tax payers money to provide money to the richest sporting clubs in the country.

  16. Only bested in those stakes by Josh Jenkins. So incredibly overrated and continually spuds it up when any sort of pressure is on. His own supporters bronx cheering when he finally took a mark deep into the third quarter.

  21. Wouldn't worry about this, just show the Article to Gawn he fix it on Sunday afternoon.

  22. The Age story online is now fixed in the simplest way. Gawn is now one of the top 9 ruckmen in the AFL.

  23. So exciting. Thats as elite as young talent as you can get. What a trio. And Viney to come back in.

  24. Surprised Gawn didn’t accidentally make the list

  25. Fitting that the Lewis is lying on the ground in the Melbourne photo! Hawthorn have taken quite a few of our offcuts over the years. Paul Johnson is another.

  27. ...and the Pies have gone all quiet "The club is the only one in the AFL yet to reveal its numbers publicly this year... Collingwood recorded 75,000 members last year but is now believed to be trailing that by around 10,000 "!! https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/collingwood-may-be-keeping-2018-membership-total-secret-due-to-sliding-numbers-says-garry-lyon/news-story/ee7a5db72ccc18a248217924fcc9f4b2 Not sure Eddie's ego could cope for his club to go from the biggest to the 4th biggest...

  29. Dee for so early in his career Fritsch is a bloody good finisher/disposer of the pill and a lovely left foot. Reads the play like a veteran already when it's in motion. Great vision also and DOESN'T panic. Assesses and delivers beautifully most of the time by both hand and foot. His ability to read play and judge the ball so well allows him time and space that others don't often have in general play, even this early! One on one in a marking contest he obviously isn't going to win too often given his size so we give up some gains on that side for sure. But I would take 15 or so disposals from Fritsch over the equivalent from a few of the other fringe forwards right now. Super young and inexperienced, will probably need a break in coming weeks/months. He is raw, young and easily pushed off the ball, but for all that, he is also all class in all other aspects and knows how to finish in front of goals! A rare commodity up forward at Demonland....keep him in unless he puts in a horror FCS!

  30. I would say we should hold our horses. Recent announcement that we have sold assets and will reinvest the money rather than pay down debt says to me something big is in the works.

  32. Last time, with Gawn out, O’Brien took about 84 marks from kick ins or that get out kick between half back and half forward. (It was also a frustrating trend in all games with Gawn out). So hopefully that doesn’t happen again. I too, am worried about the cheapies out the back to their smalls. But that’s really my only main worry, along with Isaac Smith who’s the type that kills us. But it’s all upstairs. I watched round 1 with my Collingwood supporter mate, and they just didn’t take them on. Too much respect. This isn’t the Hawthorn we think of when we hear the word Hawthorn. They still have the footskills, but that’s their main weapon. They’re not as organised, they don’t have all those great leaders controlling the game, and they don’t bat deep through the middle. Just take them on. I’m going to predict we’ll lose because I’m a superstitious idiot that thinks if I say we’ll win, we’ll lose. Go us.

  33. No need, actually. This clown has made a fatal error known as 'hare kari', providing further evidence that the pen is less mighty than the sword when the brain is feeble and one-eyed. Football commentary and Adelaide is a bad mix - just living here in terms of football news and views is an agony.

  36. Wagner is an impact player down back. He doesn't look like much but he is effective. Sometimes he may even turn it over, but then he pops up minutes later with a run down tackle or a smother. He adds something down back. He is tough. He will also take the game on. I have to respect what he brings to the table.

  37. As much as I love Jetts, I reckon he’s had a pretty quiet start to the year, so this is a bit of a surprise. loved his bump on BBrown that said

  38. On talent Wagner isn't best 22.Based on current form he is. He will play until his form dip's, or someone with more talent builds stronger form and passes him. I just want to win games of footy, and right now he is helping us do that.

  39. All between the ears. I feel like we might come out in the proper 'hunting' mood where we lift for opponents we are inspired by. Which is ok, since last week we didn't have the traditional lapse against an opponent we 'should' beat. Hunt the best, professionally dispose of the others, that'd keep me happy. Most important thing to see - a bit of steely determination to hold the line when things turn against us. I do feel like we can win, which is nice.

  40. we don't want to be at Casey. We want a city base. We are melbourne. It's a joke. The club has been trying to get something going and all these other clubs are being looked after

  42. I like Brayshaw and I'm sure he'll become a regular and prove any doubters wrong, but Lyon is irrelevant as a supporter these days. There are posters here with far more than a clue about the current Dees.

  43. He played 5 games last year, 10 the year before. Surely it makes sense for him to get match fit and build into some form before coming into the first team? he has played 1 competitive game so far. another good performance and he'll be in. he is only 22 and played 35 games, hasn't earnt the automatic start status yet although it won't be long before he replaces vince or lewis on the HF line

  44. What is the crap about Oscar in the article? Two of Brown's goals were from frees not related to Oscar. One other goals was from a push in the back to Oscar similar to the one given by Gawn to Brown in the ruck. And Melksham plays a different role to Brayshaw; he tags and plays defensive forward. Two roles I have not seen Brayshaw play with any success. Brayshaw would be back-up for the Oliver, Jones, Viney, Tyson, ANB and Salem role of winning the ball around stoppages.
