  1. I don't like Etihad (shocker, huh?), so I prefer to stand at ground level, floating around as if to suggest I might do a runner at any moment. When Jesse Hogan belted in front of the pack for a mark and just kept running into goal toward the last half of the second quarter today, I gave a "fire 'em up Jesse!" for good measure. The chap standing next to me laughed, and I turned to acknowledge him. He said "I'm only laughing cos he's my son". We then proceeded to chin wag for the remainder of the quarter and through halftime until he went to find family at the opening bounce of the second half. The lesson to be learnt here fellow Demonlanders is that when it's the last game of the year, at Crapihad and with nothing in the result, and you'd rather stick pins in your eyes than watch another rubbish game,it's still worth going just in case there's an unknown reward for your loyalty. Tony had a good Fathers Day.

  3. We NEED salem to become a midfielder for 2016, he has speed, amazing skills and creativity, he personifies the type of player our midfield desperately needs. unfortunately we need his kicking off half back also.

  4. Bit worried that we just let Jesse's dad stand at the back with the plebs (no offence to you Webber). He should be reclining on a velvet throne in a gold-plated box while someone feeds him grapes.

  5. Did you congratulate him on his apparently extremely high-quality sperm? I suppose not. That would probably have been a little awkward.

  6. Watching Billy Stretch jeez he impresses me. I can see him playing all 22 games next year his hard running and pace is something we have really lacked over the years. What surprises me the most is that for such a slight player he goes in really hard and doesn't shirk a contest.

  7. We also settled above St. Kilda on the ladder too. Considering the amount of excessive praise they had in the back half of the season, this gives me some satisfaction.

  8. Nothing remarkable, just positives about the personnel at the club, Jesse having a good year, the fact that he loves playing with Chris Dawes amongst other usual suspects. He gave some nice anecdotes about Jesse as a teenager, his own football history, quote : 'Jesse's a Rolls Royce, I was a Ford Prefect'. Lots of looking to the future with with new young guns at the club. Very nice bloke, and likewise the conversation. On the man of the moment, Dan Cross will be much missed on game day, he's enormously respected.

  9. The mark he took on 3 quarter time shouldn't be possible. Had 2 blokes in the air trying to rip each arm off it, still holds it like a vice. More importantly he pinged the target in the cheer squad when he slotted the goal.

  10. What a great Father's Day. Mother in law ended up coming over and taking the kids to the park. A very pleasurable 1/2 dozen Pale Ales consumed, The missus sorted me out at half time, and; The Dee's won at Etihad.

  14. Not sure what happened to the site there. Seems the lights were on but nobody was home. I thought the tone was set early by the youngsters - Harmes, Brayshaw and Viney in particular in the first half. The senior players stepped up in the latter half lead by Jones and Vince. Nice to finish the season off strongly. Wasn't the perfect game in terms of ball use, but the effort was definitely there. Loved the interview with Crossy. He was clearly on another planet, but it was great to see him able to be chaired off like he deserved. In a strange kind of way it seemed a fitting way to end his career - getting smashed in a desperate attempt to win a contest.

  15. I think Garland showed all the doubters today how valuable he is. He and Tom McDonald were critical in the win today because the GWS forward line is potentially dangerous. He was composed and assured and read the play beautifully

  18. Max Gawn kept his word and the team won... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=882982818403669&set=a.100368423331783.619.100000758763064&type=1&theater Liam has loved every minute of his weekend which went from great, to amazing to stupendous! Well done MFC and I cannot thank big Max enough for how he has lifted my son's spirits!

  19. Like some others here, Michie is impressing me with his development. He had a few really 'quick hands' disposals as a link man out of the packs - usually beautifully weighted to a team mate running past. Such good awareness today, quick reflexes and nice disposals by hand.

  20. Brayshaw is from another time....when they just played fsir dinkum no nonsense footy. Love this kid

  21. My highlight today was the pre-emptive retaliation by Brayshaw who was targeted by some plonker who thought he would give him a hip and shoulder but failed miserably when Brayshaw turned towards him and got him first. That's the spirit we need from the youngsters.

  22. Dont care what anyone says about dead rubbers or 'meaningless' games . When you are trying to build a winning culture after a decade in the wilderness EVERY GAME IS IMPORTANT That was a great win... a rotation down after Crossy got concussed , plus Gawn off for 10 minutes and everyone just expected they'd run over us like last time. Our kids put on a show and we broke the Etihad curse. Finally there is hope and a platform to spring from moving forward. Go Demons.

  23. The sad part of of this saga is that his critics talk like he is a monster, a law breaking fiend. They are not supporters of the MFC but arrogant critics who lack football knowledge. Jack has had a good season and is a wonderful role model for the kids. The way he absorbs these ravings demonstrates that he has great intestinal fortitude. An important human characteristic.

  24. Watching Cross being driven off in a stretcher and then waving to the crowd brings a tear to my eye. Well done to the supporters who started the Crossy chant.. was spine tingling.

  25. I always feel sorry for supporters like you. Every poster here knows there is still plenty of work to be done, however, for the first time in ages we can see some REAL light at the end of the tunnel... yet you can't bring yourself to enjoy it. What a shame.

  26. Great debut by Mitch White today. 16 disposals, 6 marks, 93.7%. He's quite a bit bigger than I thought as well. It's amazing how much better the team looks when they're given license to attack. We looked legitimately dangerous today. I think we may have quite a scary-looking team next year. If you factor in basic improvement in the youngsters, add guys like Petracca, Frost, Tyson and possibly Trengove to the mix and assume the removal of a couple of our worst butchers. There's some firepower beginning to make an appearance.

  28. Is it just me or does Salem look like he is going to be our best player in 24 months time? Has an aura about him that the classier players in the comp have. Just something about him.

  29. Dixon to PAFC Pick 9 to MFC Jeremy Howe & pick number 23 to GCS everyone is a winner except maybe Port but if they think the Suns are going to give up Dixon cheaply they're crazy

  30. Didn't really notice Dwayne today. What I did hear at some stage was Brad Johnson questioning the decision to move Salem to defence, and for Alistair Lynch to agree with him and imply Salem has had second year blues. FFS guys, at least do A BIT of homework. Salem has been injured most of the year and has been much more effective in defence than he was in attack last season.

  31. I know I'll be howled down but apart from that horrible dropped mark and 1 poor hand pass I thought Grimes was effective and deserved his place in the side.

  32. Two things make me think this is BS. 1) Watts' heart not in it. Rubbish. He re-signed, he's extremely popular amongst the group, and has had an improved year. 2) PJ telling ANYONE about something like this. Mate or not, can not see that happening. Ever.

  33. And well done to Christian Petracca for leading the “Just wait till we get to see him next year” brigade. We needed someone to take over from Jesse Hogan.

  34. 3 more wins than last year. Kardinia and Etihad hoodoos done. Strong wins against two of the finalists. 8 debutants with all showing promise and some already the surest A graders I have seen in a long time. Yes there were frustrations but the end of season should be about the positives and there were plenty. First time in a long time that I have been certain we are on the right path. Another smart trade and draft period and who knows what 2016 might bring.

  35. Can we draft him under the father/son rule?

  36. Forget Howe, that was the best mark I've seen from a Demons player this year. The context of the game and then to go back and slot the goal made it even better.

  39. The things some guys will do to get carried off TWICE in their last game!! However, I reckon Crossy would have been a tad happier to have just gone with the second, more traditional send off! What a champion bloke! The commentators said Matty Boyd said a few words in the rooms before the game too, which was a nice touch. Oh! And my news flash about the cunning plan to defeat the Etihad Hoodoo also worked a treat! (Last time we won at Etihad, we had a White in the team. Couldn't win again until we brought in our great WHITE hope... who, incidentally, did some very nice things in his first game.) Yep, nice to get a win last game of the year! Bring on 2016!!! Go Dees!!

  40. Today's side had Viney, Gawn, Salem, Michie, Harmes, White, OMac, Newton, Stretch, Hogan, Brayshaw, JKH and ANB. Most experienced of these players is Viney with 49 games. Tyson, Kent, Frost, VDB, Toumpas and Petracca also on the list, none with more than 50 games experience.

  41. Should have got at least three frees within 20 meters of goal today. The last one the GWS player pulled his jumper so hard it looked he had a tent on his chest.
