Didn’t want to start a new thread for this - Tigers have shown strong leadership by suspending Balta for 4 AFL matches and 2 pre season matches for his alleged assault

Compare this to the tremendous culture of the Pies with zero punishment for De Goey for being imprisoned in NY for alleged forcible touching and assault

Passively encouraging assault against women and men. Pathetic and I cannot believe the AFL did not step in.

What a great series win by the Aussies. Really stuck it up those arrogant [censored] and sent them home with their tails between their legs.

Best part apart from Boland was a young 19yo living rent free in their heads and their fans. Was bloody hilarious.

Somewhat revisionist. Whilst I agree that JDG was dealt with extremely lightly, even in light of the reduced charges in the US, by both the AFL and Collingwood, he was stood down from the AFL program their football program from October 2021 - January 2022, and received a $10,000 fine from the AFL.

But no matches suspended …. So they took the easy way out

Don’t disagree, but you can’t state there was ‘zero punishment’ when he was stood down and fined, albeit a farcical response.

Probs not a popular opinion but I don’t like the way Konstas goes about it. Right from the get-go he struck me as a cocky little upstart who needs to be brought down a peg or 100. Getting involved with a situation between Uzzy and Jasprit (which arguably cost Uzzy his wicket) confirmed it. For mine he lacks something Scotty Boland, for eg. has in spades… humility and modesty.

Totally understand that view, I think he will mature though. I actually think he was told to go out there and be ultra aggressive, which he may have taken a little far on some occasions. I think he’s a star in the making once he gets his temperament right. Also hard to compare him to Boland who is a journeyman and debut in his late 20s or something like that and is married with kids.

I cut him some slack, as it’s just the arrogance/confidence of youth; Beau Webster was the star for mine, but he has the benefit of being a seasoned mature age debutant, something that Konstas will eventually grow into, hopefully.

Having said that, I kind of like Konstas’s attitude as the game needs characters. I also believe we are going to start seeing more and more of these guys who play with flare and abandon, as T20 is going to be the breeding ground for the future generations of test players (there no longer seems to be much interest in shield cricket)… I also think it might also see an end to five day tests, reducing them to four at most.

So he had the off season off and fined 1% of his wages?

hardly worth mentioning in the context of violent assault

I do not disagree, and add if India had have won the series he would have copped it big time from both sides of the media cretins.

We both do agree, wholly, on a side that puts the poms to shame for continuous lack of sportsmanship that seems to have nearly permeated their entire team.

Rubbish, when has he not been humble, he stood up for uzzie when they were trying to rush him and showed courage and competitiveness ... what other decent examples do you have? His ability to play shots isn't arrogance its talent and modern cricket

I’m trusting you’ve held the same opinion and conviction regarding the outcome of the May and Melksham incident at Entrecôte, and for this current May ‘incident’, yeah?

Mate even Uzzy says he is arrogant ( tongue in cheek slightly ) Sam is a work in progress and he had at least been told to cool it with his admissions in the HSun earlier this week. But he has ability and confidence in his corner.

Lets give him time as he is  nowhere near a finished product as an opener or a person yet. Sri Lankan tour is a great opportunity to experience an away tour which are totally different to playing at MCG and SCG.

Will be an interesting watch.

Won't make it as a Test opener has NO confidence in his defence, Not saying he can't play but as a Test opener needs to last long enough to make it easier for his team mates,  T20 or One Dayers maybe. I ain't convinced.

Uzzie struggled to find the words to describe him properly and didn't make alot of sense going by the quotes. Shipperd has made it clear he isn't the slightest bit arrogant and so has Geoff Lawson ... abs nothing he has done on tv has been arrogant ... example pls? ... people just want to being him down a peg the aussie way

Did you see how he batted when he made a century in each innings early this Shield season?   I think he can adapt to the situation.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
