Dropped this week after starting sub and being subbed.

He is a very good footballer and silky skills, Goody spoke about how in 2021 he killed us in every game we played them.

Would be a very good player to get.

If he requests a trade then the Dogs have 0 bargaining power, and they haven't been playing him so they can say he is a gun.

Thoughts?

Don't think you can play him and Bowey in the same side

Get the Jack Macrae thread going

Stunned that he can't get a game with the Doggies. Very smart player. Great reader of the play.

No, too small we already have too many small players who are as good if not better with the football.

I'd much prefer getting more games into Bowey.

I honestly think Daniel needs to be tried as a forward. Got the weighted kick to be like a Grian Myers.

He's lost in the back half now.

Jake Bowey is already a better version of exactly the same player.

Jay Clark just said that he thinks we will go after Caleb Daniel after missing out on Houston for ball use off half back.

Thoughts?

15th here we come!

Don't mind it to be honest. Been bevo'd, still has a bit to offer.

We’re starting to get desperate if that’s the case.

Hard to be excited by much at the moment. He could be ok but probably won’t help enough.

We should be going for cheap options like Daniel who can fill a role rather than expensive options like Houston anyway...especially given the current situation of potentially struggling to field a Melbourne Demons 5 a-side basketball team in 2025

An important part of our Premiership story.

We're going to retire half their team via two year contracts by the time we're through.

Caleb Daniel good game is 300 metres gained. Houston averages 450-480m. We have enough smallish players with dinky kicks.

I quite liked Daniel as a player, however it’s a mighty fall from grace if we’ve gone from a two time AA (probably) to Caleb Daniel as our new HBF recruit.

Reminds me of the Billings and Hunter trades, washed up and past their best. Can’t say I’m excited about this or the current direction of the club and overall recruitment strategy at the moment. Bring on the external review, accountability and transparency at all levels of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
