Gee willikers, this team is so fit.

Shizen coaching again from Goody to bring on Kynan Brown in the 95th minute of extra time

Hopefully this loss gives him the confidence to finally release the shackles given the season is done

We did not deserve to lose that.

What can you say...

Missing those easy, yes easy set shots came back to bite us.  As a whole the pressure and effort was what we wanted all night.  But gee, Petty and Langdon, but more Petty as he is a key forward.   Take some bloody goal kicking lesson and practice.

Second week in a row goalesss in the last.

Smashed them in contested possessions and tackles but couldn’t win the free kick count.

Go defensive and we look toothless who would have thought

I know this will fall on deaf ears right now, but that was a cracking game. Both teams had so many missed opportunities.

We had so many young players, we were always going to fade late.

Disappointed with the result but proud of the team. Lots to work on though and a few clear gaps still in the list.

Vent away demonlanders!

Good effort, lucky Lions missed some easy one, like our endeavour, but we lost.

Learnings, learnings, learnings

Sick of them

I want doings and winnings.

That's what counts

Petty and Langdon  missing easy shots that would have put us nearly 5 goals up lost it for us

Good tackling, great 2nd quarter, great pressure. But yet again, when it mattered, when the game was to be won, set shots were missed, silly free kicks were given away and we couldn't kick straight to win the game.

We're close but no cigar...

spelling

Viney, Oliver, Koz, May, TMac, Tholstrup all good. The rest not so good.

stopped dead in the last, no gas.

Season done, but we’re not far off.

Umpires [censored] disgraceful.

Lions, bunch of massive [censored]. Won’t win anything.

Edit: AMW also good

Well we gave it a decent crack, ran out of legs again though. Something is seriously wrong with our fitness program we have looked gassed in final quarters all season.

Cannot fault the endeavour though, happy with the way they attacked and pressured.

I really like the look of Kolt and AMW was good in his debut. Viney back to his bullocking best and Kozzie was electric.

I do not u derstand why Brown wasn't brought in for some fresh legs especially when we looked so cooked. Did we forget we had a sub? What's the bet he gets dropped next week.

100% correct

Hurts so bad.

Can't fault the effort tonight, that performance will beat most teams. Just ran out of puff.

Proud effort.

Don’t blame the umpires. Look at Langdon and Petty missing straight forward shots. Look at the forward coach and our inability to score in last quarters. Changes need to happen because we are not up to it

This was poor coaching in the last quarter by the coaches talk about just letting the lions remain loose so badly, a game we should have won.

Thought we'd lose the game by 6-8 goals.

Ended up shaking and nervous in the final minutes.

Some fellas stepped up that game yes we missed a few, but Brisbane had a few peanut brain moments in the forward line as well.

Little unlucky the May mark on the wing wasn't called.

Also did Rivers run too far?

Really disappointing last quarter, lost our dare and tried to play too safe, then missed the chances we did get. Only needed to kick one goal and couldn't do that

Can't really complain though, Lions were far worse and coughed up two dead set sitters in the final quarter as well.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
