Should be a law against Kneeing a player in the ribs

Not a good look and can cause real damage i have suffered one similar and it still is tender 50 years later

I suffered broken ribs about 13 years ago. Ouch!! I've never fully recovered.

What did we think of JVR's game? Much more time in ruck, it's not ideal for a youngster but he competes hard and it does give him a chance to get into the game. Thoughts?

Agree with you, Layzie. JVR does have a leap and reach to support rucking duties quite well; it really does seem - so far this season - that it warms him up to get into the game with these talents. In the longer term, it also might encourage his forward play (again, talented) to become more mobile and 'sharing' with his teammates.

So we had ordinary moments, so whatttt, hawthorn played well for a small portion of the game. It happens. We won and held them to 39 points. I mean did you look at the process?

Well you clearly didn't.

Obviously losing May and Lever not ideal but I believe Hore can play Levers role comfortably as the intercept defender. Tomlinson back is an option to cover May but if Fullerton has a good game at Casey today he could play the forward / ruck role allowing Petty to play in defence. We do have some options to get through a tricky period which is our next 3 games.

Should have been taken out of the game years ago. Most dangerous action in the game bar none.

Agreed. Did you hear the line about Kozzie? "He's been good the last 2 weeks after a quiet game against Sydney" He clearly didn't remember Kozzie was suspended for the Sydney clash. The rest of the commentary team fell silent after that line

How worse do you think it could get?

After May and Lever went down they only kicked 1 more goal for the match.

Herculean effort from our defence without both May and Lever.

It was all team defence. Our post clearance pressure and ground level pressure was so good that the best they could do was kick to a congested forwardline or dump kick it to our free interceptors. Our defenders were great, but it was an all team effort.

he was excellent. Dirty Chol tried to kick him in the head like the May push kick, and he competed well. He gave Max and excellent chop out today.

Chol is a Mason Cox. Leads with the knee. About time he was called out for it.

Maybe crowing too early but the last two games have a 21 feel. Not in terms of purely dominant footy more in terms of the team enjoying themselves and playing selfless footy.

Defending as a team, extra efforts, looking to give off instead of blazing and celebrating good moments together.

Yes, Rod Carter did a fine job on him, Gerard thought.

How about Bunghole’s (Dunstall’s) remark after Bayley’s fifth: “I haven’t really noticed Fritsch that much.”

And Dwayne whipping himself into a frenzy after the Hawks’ goal early in the last, then checking himself mid sentence: “And that brings the 32-point margin from quarter time back to . . . 30 points.”

Volume down next time.

did anyone else think that the briefest review i can remember with not multiple angles etc of BBBs goal was incorrect.

The whole ball had passed behind the goal post but not past the padding on the goal post. I think the goal line is only as thick as the post not the padding, If im correct the whole ball was over the line.

Im giving Bennie another goal

Nope, the padding is counted as the post.

Commentary was horrendous but they were just trying to push the narrative that there was really a game on.

Hawks picked up in 2 and 3 quarters but really didn’t bridge the gap. If anything we fluffed a few forward movements which would of blown it out more.

the commentary was trying to save the non hawk or dee fans from switch off. Hawks played a [censored] style to watch, and they try and build hope in the team behind.

loved the two big marks petty gave us in the first half.he is damn good above his head and marks arms out. He also can crash packs like neita.

He has reached a new level

A few years back many thought he was fringe. He barely played 2016 and missed a big chunk of 2020 (partly due to being a sacrificial lamb to AFL on sling tackle) and I think was then a year behind Tracc on development into their best

Now he's got 150 under the belt he's just continuing to improve, uses his work rate and now his disposal is elite 24 at 75% with 23 PA

Loving it ❤️ 💙

And yet we had a Dees supporter call SEN during the week with some conspiracy theory regarding Nibbler always being one of the first players to congratulate a teammate after the teammate had kicked a goal. The caller believed it to be orchestrated by Nibbler to just get in the highlight reels.
Absolutely ridiculous call, the caller even scoffed at Garry’s response in asking him do you not just watch the way he plays his footy and think that’s just the way he is a real team player

Really?

That was seriously his theory?

Man oh man, some people. Imagine  one thinking that, and two going to the effort to call a radio station and broadcast your stupidity.

Well with May and Lever rebounding from defence and Petty finding his feet with marking, I reckon it could've got 3-4 goals worse if we really got going!

There are no expectations on us this year, with the heavy media emphasis on our “disastrous” off season…they are off us and we are no longer considered the hunted.

Can only be a good thing in my opinion. Hopefully we can continue to fly under the radar and just keep chalking up wins. Next two weeks are crucial, especially if we are without both May and Lever. I’ll be happy to walk away with 1 from 2 and sit 3-2 after round 5 (or 4 according to the AFL fixture).

I'm int he same vein, 1 win from 2 at Adelaide oval is a good result. 2 from 2 would be nothing short of miraculous (and we won't be fly under the radar). 0 from 2 will suck hard. I'm really hopeful that Lever's injury isn't serious and we'll only see him miss a week.

Yes, it's the uncanny way he knows who's going to score the next goal, and manouvers to be near them, that impresses me. He must read the play better than anyone who's ever played the game! And still doesn't manage to rack up 40+ possies per match. I guess that speaks further to the selflessness of the guy.

What?! Seriously that guy is either not a Dees fan and just trolling, or he's an absolute [censored] for a Dees fan. I don't know one Dees fan that doesn't love Nibbler and the determination he shows, he's heart and soul.

Nothing fixes off-season drama like wins on the scoreboard.

Our guppy-brained media now have some new targets drifting into their viewfinders. Collingwood (but softly softly until it's obvious they can release both barrels), Crows, Lions, Bulldogs. It's a tremendously exciting time for them. And they always have us in reserve if we have some "off-field issues", ie, start losing.

What's Gerald Healy's problem? Did we push him out or something?

Gerard was always full of himself.  I started to go to training way back when and he did not impress me in any of my interactions with him (until then I thought he was fabulous because I judged him by his football).  Anyway I got the impression that Gerard thought himself too good to be a Dee and he was much better off with the show ponies like Capper at the Swans.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds.
