PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Carlton

We turn up from the start and bring the heat the Blue Baggers will fold and we will by at least 5 goals. We start like last week and give them a sniff then it will be a tough battle and only win by a couple. We have this and very confident fine or wet.

Silly to write Carlton off as a no show in this one. They're playing for a spot in the finals and are desperate. This one could be similar to our 2018 game against evential premiers West Coast if we aren't careful.

Here is the door stop interview with Oliver.

Clarry sounds like he is slurring quite a bit. Has he swapped out cocaine for Cointreau? I wonder which tonic is best for weekend preparation? Maybe we'll see him swap out his ultra-hyper handballs for looping laconic Caribbean ones?

Carlton are a massive chance in this game and to think otherwise is foolish. They’re in great form and ticking off all the key matrix of a serious contender.

I think we should and will beat them if we bring our best. It’s round 22 and everything is on the line, including a home final. If we can beat them in and around the contest, and I’m confident that we can, as well as close down their ball movement from half back, the points are ours.

That’s not the issue, at various points most have agreed with those points. The problem lies in the lack of in-depth analysis. There should be a show that spends 15-20 minutes on the 4 main games of each round and 5-10 on each of the other 4. Some analysis beyond 3 glammed up clips trying to prove a point.
I’d call it AFL On Monday. I’d have Hoyne, Me and 3 others (no one springs to mind sadly) and we’d get deep, both technically and spiritually in our analysis. They’d be no Ralphy, no Brereton, no Robbo, no King, no Huddo and The Bounce would be axed. We’d replace On the Couch and AFL 360 and we’d be on on Monday and Thursday (Wednesday if there was a Thursday game) Post and Pre total analysis. We’d rate the absolute shizzle off the crud currently on offer. The start and end credits would be the best plays/marks/goals of the week. We’d go to training, wade through stats and flesh out the meaning of them. Can’t believe it hasn’t been done already. Oh and no ads.
7-9pm

When’s it starting?

Interesting that Carlton for the first time in two decades are starting to play as a team! When that happens, and it happened with us in 2021, it can be a bloody powerful thing.

We'll have to play very well to beat them.

Need to try our very best, night all.

I'm still in the not trying our best camp laysie. Take a leaf out of your handle's book, I say. If we can win by playing lazy then we are almost guaranteed a premiership. Win this one with zero effort and we can loaf our way to another flag and still be cherry-ripe for a fresh, relaxed tilt next year with a Bali sojourn in between.

JVR and Brodie will work, because it is designed to have him hurting backmen in front of goal and him taking marks up the ground.

They wanted Voss sacked two months ago and now their supporters are ringing up radio saying he should be coach of the year.
They’ve done extremely well to get to where they are and they won’t be easy at all, just like every other team has proven the last month.
I was more worried about the North game in Tassie more than the Blues, in a sense our boys know what’s at stake currently and will be up for the fight. It won’t be easy for the Blues either.

Sounds amazing tbh. But might struggle to make it beyond a year when the viewership is so low and niche

I know it was lacking in statistical analysis and clips, but the Thursday 1hr show 'League Teams' was a pretty decent discussion of each match pre round. No fluff.

Back in the Paul Roos Gerard Healy days. You just had to put up with Brereton or Brad Johnson, but at least they all gave each match the time and dedicated discussion it deserved.

Newsalert … the Pies supporters are now barracking for us this week.
Office talk from Blues supporters has got them all stirred up (that’s footy) but admittedly Blues supported already have gone feral. “Unbeatable Blues !!! “.
Of course Pies fans at work can’t stand Carltank.

We need some binoculars behind the Casey Fields fence in a couple of hours.

And closest to pin, how many times will the media mention Grundy's name in Goody's presser this morning?

It's Demonland.

A land of sweet candy, flowers and where you don't have a bad thing to say about anything MFC.

Big Fella, stop living in the 80’s. We’re the Big Boys now. This will be a solid win on Saturday. They can’t beat us. They’ll hand around for awhile and then we’ll turn the jets on.

Have you not been watching? Removing Harry and SOS has made them far less predictable and they're getting scoring contributions across their midfield and small/mid sized forwards. We've also been conceding big scores.

Petty would have kept Weitering occupied but that's out. We no longer have a matchup for him (he'll destroy Melk).

Saints midfield included Steele and B Crouch amongst others, which compares favourably to our recent starting midfield of Sparrow and JJ. Viney a trump card, but no more than an equal of Steele who has come top 5 in the Brownlow 3 years running. Petracca in there tips us over the edge, but we don't have the luxury now we need him down forward. Oliver - who knows but I wouldnt take any bets on him playing. Even if he does, he hasn't played in 11 weeks and apparently hasn't been able to finish a training session.

Carlton are the best defensive side in the comp since round 10 by a huge margin. Have the Coleman medal winner, the reigning Brownlow medal winner, 2 rucks to smash into Max and they play the same contested stuff we do, are on a huge hot streak culminating from a player-led honesty session at an off-site camp. They broke through the 2nd best defensive side (St Kilda) with almost their entire starting midfield out of action and scored relatively well against them through their contest work.

It's us that will be worried about getting to 100.

I stopped taking you seriously the moment you suggested Viney of 2023 was "no more than an equal of steele"

Nobody will take Carlton for granted. They're playing very well, full of confidence and winning games.

That said, we should be confident as well. We're more experienced and have a better 22 at the moment.

I expect a tough, hard fought 20 point win

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
