Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just wish they would give him a go in the guts, good football brain good speed on him.

I want that composure to stay in the backline. He’s a natural defender I think.

Happy with this nom, it’s a great bit of acknowledgment of his efforts this year.

Apart from his dash, elusiveness and lovely kicking skills (to position) he has a great ability to get the vital punch/spoil in

Positions himself beautifully on the right shoulder for that spoil

And then the run on gather after the spoil?  This bloke is a beauty!

As Nasher said above, a natural defender

Great reward for his hard work.  He has really developed and now fits into our backline as dependable as any other. His match v Cameron was another key to our victory. I like his composure with the footy, ability to run and deliver with skill.  Definitely our most improved player on the list this year.

The kid deserves recognition and some accolades but hey let's just keep him on the down low. He's our secret weapon.

Besides few rising stars become champions.

I didn't have great views of the other end of the ground on Friday, and it seems a lot of Judd action happened down there! I pretty surprised when I saw his highlights package, firstly his positioning smarts on Charlie, and then his cleanness to take it first time and charge out of traffic was remarkable

So exciting to have another gem to add to a core of young players who could set us up for a decade or so like Geelong. Bowey, Riv, Petty, and Judd down back. Pickett and Roo up front and sparrow, JJ, woey, are already good afl standard players who can go to a higher level.
If we can use a strong draft, and maybe father/son picks to add some more emerging midfielders, wings etc, we should be in the mix for quite a long period of time.

Congrats to Judd he has certainly surprised most and exceeded expectations. For me, he, along with the continued improvement of Trent Rivers have been big highlights this season.

If you asked anyone this time last year if he would be the player he is today I'd say nobody would have said yes. It is good reminder to all when we assess the progress (or lack thereof) of some of our young draftees.

I am very happy Judd got a reward for a solid year to date and he seems to get better and better with each game and plays mainly on the last line of defence which has no backup unlike the HB's.

I think that the best first year player award will be between JMcV and JVR, since Judd's performances are more consistant he should prevail.

I don't understand why the idea of moving him into the middle is such a popular one. Halfback flankers can be critically important in setting up attacking thrusts, and his present position utilises his skills perfectly.

So are intelligent midfielders, just look at the dacios brothers.

Does this satisfy you? Sorry about the background.

One of the smoothest operators in the draft pool, Judd McVee is the kind of player you want rebounding the ball out of defence. He handles the ball cleanly and is efficient in his use by foot, showcasing class to manoeuvre out of tight spots and keep cool in a crisis. With greater consistency and enhanced midfield craft, McVee has the tools to become a tidy player at the top level.

The 18-year-old was impressive with plenty of midfield time during his state's Under 16 National Championships campaign in 2019, but has since found a more permanent home across half-back where his pure class comes to the fore. He averaged 14.8 disposals across 12 Colts games this season and even cracked the Reserves grade, before also representing WA in the improvised Under 19 carnival

Slightly built, so are the dacios boys bigger than him then don't think so.

I stand corrected. I wouldn't include Callum Mills but absolutely on the others. That's probably almost a third of them though. Not a majority which is interesting.

But certainly it's more than a few. My bas

Tx Ldvc.

Totally forgot about Selwood ( probably subconscious).

But to be fair a lot...most of, them still don't become stars. Bit like top draft picks to a lesser extent. It's hit and miss a lot of the times.

How many have we had. I know Jackson and I think Jesse Hogan won too. Is that it? Guess the jury is still out on Jackson. Hogan has been solid in the games I've watched but the poor bloke has had battles of the ground as well to be fair.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
