Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From Big Footy

There’s not much to be happy about forward of centre.

17th for inside 50’s
14th marks inside 50
17th shots on goal
18th goal efficiency from inside 50’s
18th goal accuracy
17th for contested marks

Perfect scenario for a Hawks dud to pop up and kick 6.0 and to give up 20 marks inside 50.

Bruest returns for Hawks, he’s always good for a few goals against us. Hibberd hopefully fresh for the big task.
Mitchell Lewis will be a handful for our defenders - in saying that May should be up for his 200th and maybe the whole defensive group will be up for him! Dees by 39pts. #godees #freeVanRooyen

Welcome back mate!

Looks like when it comes to the crunch, the entire difference between best and worst in the league right now is;

Intercepts --> Metres Gained --> Inside 50s --> Goal assists --> Goal accuracy.

With the Rooey verdict, I can see an AFL backlash against us and expect a horrid run from the umpires this week as reprisal. If it was anyone but Hawthorn (or WCE) this week, I would be backing against us. Also expect some piddling negative stories in the media coming up.

Yes, I don't trust the AFL HQ.

"Viva la Roo!!"

Not sure about that I think there is more to it

Our lack of talls in the F50 that can physically compete and bring the ball to ground remains an issue. It probably explains in part why we are so keen to make sure a 6 gamer doesn't get suspended for something that wasn't reportable. Its not like he has been kicking huge bags of goals - its the work he's been doing to compete hard which has kept him in the team.

Consider this

Schache - not great at physically competing in air or ground IMO

BBB - see above

TMac - seems to be laboring with some sort of injury or just terribly out of form

Joel Smith - injured and only just now coming back and according to @titan_uranus is not smart enough to be a forward (sorry mate couldn't resist)

Fritta - not really a contested beast

JVR - will he play? - does compete well but he is a 6 game player and will struggle if gets defender #1 each week

Matt Jefferson - a long way off being ready

Given the above we have done pretty well to date - having Petty in the F50 has helped IMO not sure how things would have panned out if he had stayed back

I agree with all of the above. I just fear we will fall back a few spots without a stellar defence which we dont quite now have and is the key to a flag this year.

I hope FD get the answer soon

Likely to be sub. Harmes is on the outer.

Harmes offered very little last week on fresh legs, when everyone else was tiring.

As for JJ, I like him as a player, but won't ever break B grade and we can afford to lose him.

short attention span 😃 ? or do you think one of them is strong in contested ball situations.

btw not sure this contested ball stuff if legal anymore

Short memory maybe. Ben Brown has his issues atm with his body but to label him with the same brush as Josh Schache (no offence to Josh) is just lazy and unfair. BB has shown himself to be a great player and I hope he can return to something near his best because, to be perfectly honest, he is our best hope come September 2023.

You can only work with what you have

Not many will agree with me but if Petty goes back into defence I really believe the best options to replace him are are fit TMac 🤞 or Joel Smith

My comment was heavily biased toward each players ability to contest in the air and on the ground. These qualities are clearly what the coaches value and reading between the lines it is the reason both are playing at Casey. You call it lazy and unfair I call it accurate.

I don’t like criticism of our own players and usually do my best to avoid that however I believe it’s fair to say BB’s best football is now behind him. Not saying he will not be selected again but he needs to demonstrate some improvement in the areas mentioned to warrant selection.

BBB might not crash packs but his palm off game is more effective than a blind contest.

I'm quite certain he's our best FF option, but perhaps like 2021 he's being asked to work on things in the vfl. When he comes into the afl team he'll be fresh and ready imo.

Bye bye Jordon.

Very annoying.

I would have him in ahead of Spargo. He is far more versatile.

But you are probably correct.

If we keep dropping him, he will leave and I believe we will regret it.

Think Jordon is a touch unlucky. Been solid without starring. That said, his first game back was excellent. Since then, it just been OK. But it is hard to know exactly what role he's been asked to play.

Jordon for Spargo isn't a direct positional swap. What will mean for Kozzie, Sparrow, etc.?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
