The Age has nominated a young player from each club who they tip to have a big 2023 season.

The Melbourne player they have gone with isn't the first one that I thought of.

Without peeking, who do you think might best fit the bill from our club?

I had already read the article but won't give the answer away.

Might note the article focuses on players from each club who have already played AFL games which reduces the options somewhat..

my guess is riv

I'd reckon at this stage, Bowey will regain excellence, Rivers will continue to impress in his contributions but Sparrow and JJ will absolutely bloom.

It should be Kozzie...

Definitely Jack Watts

Kozzie. 21 years old. Back to back 40+ goal seasons. Game changer and match winner.

Already read the article this morning so know the answer though.

So do I but my pick is Andy Moniz-Wakefield we will see who is closer me or the jounalist?

Would have thought the obvious one is JVR but will go Sparrow otherwise.

edit. I’ve looked at the article now. Fair call.

For those who came in late, the players nominated from all clubs have already had some senior experience.

Highly esoteric pick in the Riv, but highly astute...

Had a super first half of 2021, looked a million bucks

Regressed badly this year though, do have to wonder how much impact his pre-season knee injury must've had

Trent Rivers is a great choice he is going to be a very good player but my choice would have been Sparrow closely followed by James Jordon who needs to take the next step in 2023.!!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
