Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

we are finally about to get May Lever and Petty together for the first time and we move Petty fwd?

No thanks

you win flags off a solid defence

Agreed, but if things arent working Goodwin must start taking risks and we have the players to make it happen.Throwing Petty fwd  has to be an option.

Got to win this one.

With Gawn out and May returning, Goodwin has a few things to consider. Tomlinson has been pretty good this year and Petty has been a bit down compared to previous seasons. One option I think we should consider is throwing Petty forward.

JVR could also come into the side to replace the out of form TMac, although this role would also include part time rucking.

Not permitted to throw anyone around these dayz.

Yes you can. Putin  is about to throw 300k soldiers  into the fwd line .  They'll  obliterate whats left of the Ukraine.

Of course you can throw Petty fwd - if necessary.

Petty needs to settle down in the back line. We have enough quality in our forwards ,specially when Gawn goes forward . If Schache had been fit  , he surely would have been very heavily considered.

Tmac with his foot injury cannot be expected to ruck, thus JVR needs to come in.

I expect the Swans to play 3 talls , therefore May, Petty, Tomlinson  also play with Lever to play on flank or back pocket. It maybe Hibberd comes in and replaces Tomlinson.Young McVee needs a rest  (managed).

Really McVee needs a rest !  What makes you think that. ?

2 games in our fitness staff would resign if a player had to be managed after 2 rounds after a rest brfoure the season started.

Please maybe you have a rest as well with a weird post like this.

Whether or not it's a good idea I just don't see Goody swinging the magnets around like this. Apart from throwing Oscar Mac up forward and then Petty in the final which may not have even been his call it's hard to remember a regular team member popping up in a random position.

The circumstances are that we’re badly depleted in the ruck division and Tom McDonald appears to be struggling to hold his place in the team so, irrespective of the long term vision as to who plays where, it would seem sensible to consider some short term solutions to an immediate problem.

Moving Harry Petty to KPF, including JvR as the second ruck to Brodie Grundy could be just the trick for this one game due to the circumstances.

Didn't he keep Cameron to 2 Goals?

Is easily AFL standard and has played his role well as an undersized def v Dogs and then on the best small fwd in the game v Bris

you don’t reckon the Cats had a strong defence? aside from us they conceded the least amount of points last year

Lol yes I'd be pretty surprised if some are questioning the cats defence of last year.

Starts by having a bloke called Tom Stewart who is a 4 x All Australian half back.

Yeah Cats defense was very good, more pointing out we had Lever, Petty, May in defense last year and it didn't get us a flag because our forward line wasn't up to scratch.

We didn't win the flag because 3 of our most important players were broken by the time finals came around. Gawn was seconds away from missing with a rib injury, Trac played with a broken leg and Clarry with a broken hand.

Lever was barely holding his ankles together, Fritta was injured in a warm up and Tmac was out with a busted foot.

Oh and Jackson had checked out, Salem was injured, and BBB couldn't walk let  along run.

We finished second on the ladder despite our less than ideal forward line functionality and I still maintain that had we stayed really fit we would have won the flag.

Also Brayshaw was injured and another I now forget too.

Agree though, fully fit and with TMac I believe we could have won it.

I don't know about timing but it turns out Lingers had broken 4 ribs (not just bruised as reported).  It's likely these were still healing / tender at finals time

Agreed, he doesn't seem to do this normally unless he's already experimented.  It was interesting in Rd 1 to see BBB temporarily pop into defence for small moments in the game - might have been something that had already been practice during preseason.  Think there was also another player but can't remember who that popped up in a few spots.  We seemed much more flexible and attacking against the Dogs.

Gus was moved into the midfield at half time too in the Lions game (although that's more likely due to Gawn down and a general reshuffling).

Wonder what we'll see against the Swans - probably not much movement.  But when Kozzy is back we might begin to see that flexibility again because we'll be slightly less strapped for depth and our backs may be less against the wall.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
