Sounds a bit like the walking wounded! So we have Trac limping, Fritsch only hopeful of playing, Spargo doubtful, Jackson with a knee injury that requires surgery, Brown with a knee, Gawn NQR (ankle?), Lever with a foot concern, Oliver with a recently fractured thumb. Have I missed anyone? What was that old adage about taking injured players into finals?

Tom McDonald's foot, Salem's groin, Jordon's foot (but, to be fair, he's definitely not going to be an injured player taken into finals)

Just to be clear, TMac and Lever didnt train at all? Or did they join late?

Lever was out on the field in full kit and marking and kicking the ball around and on the periphery of drills.

TMac was not even out there.

First time I've seen JVR in person.

He's a seriously big unit.

And he’s still growing!

I was watching Kozzy limp around at the Gabba the other week too. I don't think he's quite himself either.

I agree with David King's comments on 360.

I think we can win tomorrow night without Petracca and we need him at 100% against Geelong.

We saw what happened last time he said he was 'right to go'. He was absolutely useless against Freo when he was crook.

This is where the coach needs to step in and think about what's best for the team on the night as well as going forward.

I'd rest him, then load up and throw everything at Geelong.

Tracc actually looked fine. He trained just as everyone else. You wouldn’t know he was carrying any injury.

No VFL boys there today. I guess they’ll do a captain’s run at Casey tomorrow for the Saturday prelim. The guys out there today strongly suggests there’ll be no changes, though JVR a very minor chance. Bowey wasn’t there so he’s definitely not replacing Salem.

A couple of guys murmured that number 5 was looking good for having a broken leg. Feeding into the stereotype by calling him number 5!

I met a 50-year member called Greg, who was telling me the future and importance of having a home base right near the MCG. Said that we might build something when the GSS/Warne Stand gets replaced and a social club and facilities could be built over the rail line. Good to meet you mate, in the off chance you’re on here.

The risk of playing Petracca.

High risk of further injury.

High risk of not getting through the game.

High risk that any movement through the hips and legs will be severely compromised. In a game that is likely to be intense and frenetic his fitness he will be fully tested by Brisbane. There will be nowhere to hide. He will be targeted.

If we win, a high risk that he will not play in the Prelim.

With a number of players under an injury cloud, with some doubt about their fitness to play, playing an injury impaired Petracca only worsens the overall team strength and balance.

Watching a slow limping footballer will not help anyone’s morale or confidence, in particular that of his teammates. However, I’m sure Brisbane players will be delighted.

Coach and staff definitely need to step in and say No.

They came out looking confident and serious, head down and into the warm up.

Williams gets the volume and talking going ("hit your target"), as they go into little kick modes. Then, they use 3/4 of the oval, to move 4 players off the line, pass the ball around and deliver to a player leading the 4 off the other end. Looked good with clean footy and hard running.

They split into their line groups. Mids clear a stoppage and follow up with bringing the ball back. plenty of talk and support to each of them.

Forwards don the bibs and put a bit of pressure on the ball carrier from the arc and then pass to a lead.

Backs, move the ball between them all, within the 50 arc.

Sims, like last time, squad against the coaches. On the coaches side wearing bibs were all the emergencies. I expect given that, we will go into tomorrows game unchanged.

Finished with goal kicking. Plenty of inside out snaps from the boundary, with most kicking using their set shot routine, generally chaotic.

Finally the signings and mingling with the crowd, behind the white rope as they walk back to AAMI.

Tracc moved reasonably well. I noticed his change of direction steps were still a bit hampered. At one stage he was tackled repeatedly by Sparrow and I think, Vines. Passed through that test, easily and happily.

Last thought, as the session moved on I could see a nervousness about their work.

Go Dees

Every player was moving freely. Petracca’s kicking for goal was a bit off, but it always is! I’d imagine his kicking with his injured right leg will be a bit off for a couple of weeks at least. Fritsch and Spargo looked absolutely fine, as did Jackson and Ben Brown. I would guess that they’ll play Petracca and take him off at the first sign of sluggishness to be replaced with Van Rooyen who looks ready to go.

Particular shoutout to Gus, Mayzie, Fritta, Salo, Viney and Brown for being so generous with their time and signing and taking photos with the fans.

Right? They weren’t in any hurry to get away. Stopped at every request for a photo and/or autograph. Not surprised though, especially BBB: he is always keen to interact with fans.
PS: not sure if I mentioned this already, and it’s no biggie, but GUSSY THANKED ME FOR COMING!!!

Also, Hunty came to the boundary to fetch a ball and I said, “heya Jayden!”

He said, “hey, how're goin?” I said, “I’m good, how are you?” He said, “yeah, I’m alright” and now we’re best friends. In my head anyways.
I was standing with a lovely fellow DL-er at the time who can vouch for me that JH and I are now BFFs.

Love feeling startstruck. Still stoked that Chrissy Amphlett once called me 'handsome' - overly generous to the extreme.

Re: Lever

someone near me mentioned they heard he had an issue with his foot.

i reckon he plays just not training. No need to exacerbate anything.

Towards the end of training he and Petts were standing 2 metres away from me .He was in good spirits and showed no sign of discomfort.Kicking the ball too.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
