let collingwood get ahead of themselves. the more there winning streak goes for the greater the chance of it coming to an end. We were not disgraced, we did not do as well as we should/could have but thats football, hopefully next time we play them in the finals, their big head will get the best of them and we will overrun them. hopefully we learn from todays loss, as it seems to resemble quite a few of our other loses this year.

Viney needed to put that on the boot as soon as he got it. He had a tiny moment and might have been a little bit stiff but those get paid all the time 

 

Nice to know I can still get that soul destroying feeling when my team is ‘good’ as much as when they aren’t.

Waiting for the train at Richmond. I think it’s going to sound like an over simplification but I think 2022 is boiling down to 3 things:

You can’t do the same thing every year. Our game plan has been studied. Collingwood stayed in at half time for an eternity. He was picking our game apart - and they executed it. We don’t have anything new to throw at teams. 

Same mistake with our fitness. We looked exhausted again after half time. We haven’t got our fitness right this year. I fear we are trying to replicate last season but don’t have the base due to a shorter preseason.

And then there’s our forward line. We are asking players to play to a system, but we don’t have the players to execute it. TMac is a huge loss. We need to turn Jackson into a big bull contested player.

It just feels like the same loss every time we get beaten. Tonight was a low point though, especially in the context of our season.

Our season was on the line at half and 3qtr time. Now would be a brilliant time for the do gooders to keep their mouths shut and take in a fresh dose of reality. WE WERE SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I don't know what bar you measure success by but that is now the 5th time this year a 4 goal lead has been thrown away. 3rd time we've led at every change but the last and at least the 3rd time where a game has been there to be won and a series of things had to go wrong for us to lose, AND THEY DID. Against the Swans it was the Max miss and some other things, against the Dogs Kozzie miss, May's kick and now it's the stuffed up chest mark on the wing which turned into the winning goal. Spare me the theories, spare me the crap about how we haven't been worked out but our running and pressure was a bit off, spare me loading, spare me all of it. The stakes were high and we failed in the crucial moment. We fluffed our chances, they took theirs. That football club is totally in our head now whether you like it or not. We are their bunny rabbits and it doesn't feel good. All om asking for is just please can people be honest and call a spade a spade, don't sugar-coat, don't make excuses.We've been humiliated by these bin dippers on national television twice now and we are a complete laughing stock after the Ed comments. That and the Entrecote ordeal, it's just too many off field things. I don't think this team is quite mature enough yet to be a dynasty. 

We've failed in the big moment again, flags don't get won that way. Please don't point to last year this is a completely different thing altogether. It's fate for Collingwood, they are a team playing out of their skin who knows how to win while we are a better team that knows how to snatch defeats from the jaws of victory. No other result was acceptable other than a win tonight, we blew it

Max again scragged all night. Umpires just continued the cheating phenomenon.

Felt sorry for Viney there. Hibberd just didn't want the pill and hand balled it to him from about 2 feet away. In other words he [censored] himself and just wanted someone else to take the heat.

Few will agree but our reluctance to try something different did us in.

TBH our forward line is so bad you have to despair. Like our coaching staff I'm bereft of ideas

But what I take out of this is that they are vulnerable when we play our best. Our issue was not slamming the door shut. 

Our forward line work drops off because there are so many times you can go forward and come up empty. You aren't going to kick them every time, but you need to kick the gettables. In a game like that, if you miss sodas like Maxy did early on, it sets a horrible example for the rest of the team.

We aren't shot by any stretch of the imagination. When playing at the end of the year, it's the margins that kill you. Our execution in front of goal is the five percent stopping us beating teams like Collingwood.

As far as individual performances go, Hibbo should be allowed nowhere near Jamie Elliott. He doesn't have the fleet footwork. Harry Petty has recently started to remind me of the jittery kid not sure of himself when he first started. His one on one contests are a liability.

Our midfield was mostly good, but that means nothing if we aren't converting. You can have Tracc, Clarry, Jack and Gus get 30 touches each but if we aren't finishing when required, it's pointless.

Plus seeing those gronks happy as they are, I feel bileous. Where's Dom Sheed or Wayne Harmes when you need them?

Kozzy Pickett was MIA all night and his mark as CHF and lousy kick to Fritta was the death nail! Drop him . Needs a kick up the backside. Has played one good game this year

We seem to be a team that gives away far too many free kicks in opposition forward half.  Frankly, Goodwin can’t fix our forward problem.  Just can’t believe Collingwood are making a laughing stock of opposition coaches in close games.  Hats off to McRae he is one smart operator.

That one stings, because the first half was premiership standard football, we maybe could have converted slightly better but overall pretty happy, and then just hit a bit of a wall, not too sure why. 

thought we found a little bit of energy in the last but the Pies just handled the moment a little bit better. 

It stings a bit to drop that game, but not too worried in the bigger picture

The concern for me overall is that for the second time in 3 weeks our team defense has been found lacking. we seem to get sucked into the fast paced shootout style game with teams very easily and it just doesn't suit us.

I dont disagree that they should have been paid, but it would have been nice if the same rules where applied all over the ground to both sides, if they had then i doubt we would have lost, because they held the ball, dropped the ball, threw the ball, dragged the ball in endless times and were not called. so yes i agree Elliotts frees were there but so were so many others
