Honourable mentions;

Adam Tomlinson

Jake Melksham

James Harmes

Luke Jackson

Alex Neal-Bullen

Charlie Spargo

Ben Brown

Bayley Fritsch

Adjudication;

No real complaints. Charlie Dixon gets J C Williamson award for 'milking' a 50 metre penalty goal. "Hard" man with "soft" hands.

Broadcast;

Pleased to hear BT's repeated references to the 'Big Tree'  it is well on the way to being adopted as part of the AFL dreaming. Thank Jove the live ladder was dropped for the last quarter and FOX footy's  Kelly Underwood being 'anchored' in the South Yarra studio.

Opposition hyperbole watch;

Powell-Pepper sprayed the goal front like an old tom. Desperately needs the Kossie implant.

Overall comment;

Port have improved significantly since earlier in the season. Almost a full compliment of players many in good form. Provided a seriously competitive match. Hopefully our boys will be battle hardened by September. Moggies meanwhile are aging and getting it soft.

I'm staggered that everyone is rating Trac so high. Sometimes that clanger stat can be misleading, but not in this case. He had 10 and the rest of the team combined for 14.

Think our expectations for Tracc are pretty high.

If Harmes, Sparrow, etc. got 30 possies with 17 contested, four centre clearances, nine score involvements, three goal assists and nearly 600 metres gained no one would hesitate giving them votes.

The clanger stat is always high for inside mids. The nature of having to get ball on boot in a hurry. With that said he still went at 83 percent disposal efficiency.

Apologies to Tomlinson.

Trac was BOG after Koz. 10 clearances, 3 assists. 17 contested. We don’t win without Trac today

…and yet you give Viney 5 votes? He was awful by foot today. Even by his standards.

If you think CP’s game was overrated fair enough but not a single vote? He had 17 contested possessions. 10 clearances to Viney’s 3. 9 score involvements. He topped Viney in basically every stat.

I'll confess that I have high standards of Trac, but there is something seriously wrong with his kicking. Included in your stat line of 9 score involvements and 83% disposal efficiency was a shank in the 2 qtr that barely went 25 metres but still ended up in a 2 on 1 our way, but only a point resulted.

Offhand, Trac seemed to get a lot of possessions in the last qtr once the game was sealed.

Where did you see that clanger stat?

The AFL's website says that he had 4 clangers, not 10.

He led us for metres gained, was second only to Fritsch for score involvements, and was our leader for goal assists. He also had our fourth most pressure acts, meaning he added defence to that attack.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

    The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

    The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

    It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
