They played with a lot more intensity and hardly let up.

Both had 5 day breaks:

They had a training run at home last game and we had a tough away game (even if Adelaide are a bottom side).

Just saying. Be interesting to watch them play on a normal size oval, but i cant be bothered watching them.

Missing another quality tall marking option. Although BB was encouaging in the first half.

But we just finished loading 2 weeks ago didn’t we? When do we not load and actually play? I’m not buying the loading stuff this time as it’s a bit too early for the final loading before finals. Im starting to question the hunger a bit, they just lack dare and the ruthless edge we all saw last year .

The game plan is doing my head in. Slow down the wing has been worked out. Can we switch or use the corridor once in a while to surprise the opposition? Bowey and Salem are not the kicks we all have talked them up to be. Haven’t played a standout game for a while.

Seriously Salem at 96% in grand final should tell you something 🤦🏻‍♂️

Geelong to good tonight unfortunately. Incredibly frustrating game to watch so many players getting caught with the ball, the bounce of the ball also just seemed to follow Cats players, skill errors and we looked like slipping over all night. Max and LJ just not being able to take those pressure reliving marks hurt. So many players were way below par tonight and that seems to be the case more often than not lately.

Hate losing to those stinking tu.rds

But it’s July. We had a flat spot last year and came good in round 19.

Don’t show your hand early.

We can obliterate them when it counts

Need to do something about our forward line first I’m afraid

Our comparatively harder game last week might have been a factor but doesn't explain being belted in clearances in the first half.

Smashed in the clearances. maybe better with Weid and Mitch rucking. Gawn and Jackson more or less useless.

Max and Jack had to come back some time - would it be better next week?  Who Knows?

Interesting Selwood said they feel like they were running on top of the ground. Sounds like they’ve timed their loading well. Better than us, anyway…

Maybe ....  like premature ejaculation?

Salem needs a spell. Has looked terrible since his return and tonight was his worst yet. His kicking lacks penetration and precision. Work on it at Casey.

So, needs a spell, or time at Casey?  Which do you mean?

Selwood a dirty little sniper, probably broken Clarrys thumb

18 games down there in 22 years

And we played poorly

.... and how many for Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond?  Just one more example of the utter corruption of the AFL.

Gawn and Jackson, one mark between them as well….ugh. Maybe both rushed back too early?

So would you prefer Weed and Mitch?   Nobody could reasonably predict that they would be that flay.

I'm not a believer at all. Think its just excuses. Other clubs load too, including the side that just belted us (yes should've been more).

and Spargo.....

Gee did he play?

Forward craft whether it be skills or tactics or decision making needs a lot of work, whenever we're struggling it's always a part of the problem. we would have to be one of the lowest percentage scoring from the amount of entries we create.

Small forwards creating pressure is good but how about getting the ball more and have the opposition chasing you instead of the other way round

Max Holmes looks a ripper. Jason Taylor was bang on identifying him as a gun outside talent. Shame he went a pick too early for us.

We need to look at some changes to our smalls next week. That game was lost by our small forward not getting involved, and lack of smaller lockdown defenders.

Whilst I'm not suggesting we shouldn't be looking at changes to the small forwards, we didn't make their lives easy by losing at stoppages (so we couldn't hold the ball forward) and not having a tall other than Brown forward of centre to take marks or make a sufficient aerial contest to bring the smalls into the game.

Would be hard to be a small forward when we play like that further up the ground.

In saying that, I'm really not convinced by Bedford whilst Spargo's game was infuriating.

All this rubbish l have been hearing from media and others that we are juggernaut etc. l never believed it. Yes a good team in the mix this year but that’s all in the mix.  Rubbish is and then daylight second like dunstall says     A chance for top 4.

We looked rough up until round 19 last year. Very similar form, problems etc.

Yes l am swinging a boot in mid air when a player’s about grab the ball

I think that’s against the rules don’t you?

I’d need to see the footage again, but I’m sure he was behind Oliver and his vision of Oliver’s hand would have been obscured when he tried to get his boot to the ball.

Maybe we should have left weiderman in & only bought back one of gawn or Jackson.

Viney wasn't the same player as the past few games

I've heard that geelong fans will be torching some ford falcons in celebration tonight.

A few poor performances, won’t be the last time we lose in Geelong.

Big lift needed for the remainder of the season for top 4,  but as we saw last year, not over until the final kick .

Good riddance.

What could've been?....

The Kozzy miss.....

The Fritsch dribble with Langdon free.....

The Bedford fumble when he was off and away.....

The umpires not calling below the knees against Rohan on Jackson which nearly broke his leg....

The JJ holding the ball.....

That was by far our worst performance for the year. It was 4 quarters of constant mistakes. I don't think Geelong were that good. Play like that next week  and it will be another loss. We have not beaten port in Alice so my MFCSS is running riot for next week already.

So where has he been for the past 4 weeks? He is a mile off it.

Their pressure was excellent and we didn’t have a plan to counter.

I do hope the club seeks clarification on the non free kick to May in the 3rd Qtr when Hawkins tackled him without looking at the ball, preventing Nay from competing for the ball. From the ensuing bounce, Hawkins kicks a goal. Total [censored].

Outplayed all night. No excuses. So many players made little to no contribution.

It's all very well applying forward pressure, but Kossie, Spargo, Bedford and ANB need to get their hands on the ball.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
