Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If hunt thinks about other opportunities i would certainly look at JJ and even if hunt stays i would too. bevo salad has him playing a half forward role whilst hannan?! plays at HB, JJ off a back flank is a much better distributer in my eyes and given hibbo's legs are a bit more weary JJ would add some effective burst and change of pace on a good value deal

Balta, from what I've seen is not much of a forward.

If I was the Tiges I would swap him with Gibcus who has some forward skills but hopefully they won't figure that one out.

I think they’ll draft or chase a forward and end up with Balta and Gibcus down back long term when the veterans clear out.

Just heard from a mate with a 60/40 record of being correct on these things, apparently Grundy met with Gawn and Goody recently and deal has been reached for Grundy to Demons next year with Dogga heading home.

I don't hate this but I don't love it either. Grundy has shown he has to play mostly 1st ruck, and Max's goal kicking isn't good enough for him to play predominantly forward.

Would also want Collingwood to pay part of his salary

I’ve heard something similar but still a fair bit of water to go under the bridge.   It would be very interesting to see how a Gawn and Grundy combo would go.

Regardless of any club split of the contract, I wld think Grundy would need to accept a pay reduction.
He has always looked a cultural mis-fit at Collingwood, surrounded by meat heads like Adams, De Goey and the general supporter base.

I'd only want to give a late first rounder.

If we absorbed the large majority of his $, I'd want to only part ways with a 2nd. Unlike Treloar who was super consistent at Collingwood, Grundy has been down on form for 1.5 years.

It does present a good opportunity with whatever picks we receive from Freo. Allows us to be more aggressive to package them up to target a key forward in the draft if we have a new ruckman coming our way.

Hope it’s more 40 than 60 and LJ stays put where he belongs with his mates at MFC - length of the Flemington straight more value than a washed up Grundy IMHO

Late second or 3rd round pick and 500k would be the most I’d go for Grundy.

I’d keep my eye on GWS. If Grundy goes there we should really look at Matt Flynn who we bidded on years ago. The right age to really go to the next level as a ruck and he has untapped forward potential

i've also heard talk of a Grundy chase. but we're wanting the Pies to pay a significant chunk of his salary, and the trade to be for a later pick, so a lot has to go our way for it to happen.

I think it's a good option IF it can be done on our terms.

I tend to get tired of all the talk about Jackson leaving.

Facts are we do not know what he is going to do just as "they" thought we were going to lose Brayshaw...

What also annoyed me was the "talk" during the Freo game by James Brayshaw and others treating it as a "given" that he is leaving.

On another happier note,...   The one kick, one Goal Weid surely must make way for JVR ? - Just saying... !!!

Anyway - This is my two Bobs worth.     I feel better now from within...

People are quick to forget that Grundy’s best put him in the top 3 ruckman in the game. He got a terrific financial deal, but that doesn’t mean we have to take that on.

If he came to us i’d feel pretty good about it. We forget as a footy club that 50% of the clubs don’t have one decent ruckman because ours is the leagues best. Long down the line to Grundy, then long down the line to Gawn as 2 get out of jail cards gets you a long way to the goals.

Better than a Gawn and a non ruck fill in.

I hadn't thought of this but I reckon it is a very, very good idea.

But for the most part, I don't understand all the down talk about Grundy. Yes, his last 1.5 years have been flat and injury riddled but his tap work is better than Jackson's and around the ground he is like an extra very large midfielder. Him and Max would impossible for other teams to match in a similar way it is with Gawn and Jackson.

The $ situation is the sticking point. Collingwood are in an atrocious mess re salary cap/player payments and I can't see them wanting to pay much of Grundy's salary at all, if he is traded. And having now signed all our main players for extended years, our own salary cap is going to need some management soon.

Weid maybe goes to Pies if we add to our key forwards and they pay chunk of Grundy’s salary. Can see that. Or we just give a late pick.

it's like people forget that on one knee grundy basically kickstarted the filth's season vs the peptides on anzac day - he was incredible in that game while clearly injured

that said...wouldn't want to pay anything close to $1m a year for the next five to him

i have faith in our footy dept to get it 'right'

That won’t happen and why should it?

I guess because that might have to be the sacrifice Grundy has to make if he wants to play with Melb. No doubt he cld stay at the pies or go to another club that has oodles of salary cap space and retain the $. I just cant see melb paying huge coin for a second ruckman.

Didnt we get BBB on a lower pay day, essentially because it was the right move\fit? Thats what im thinking of, but sure, he has a contract, BBB didnt.

The issue with Grundy is some of the things he does well that result in big stats aren’t often valuable, especially if he’s off his best.

He gets a lot of hit outs but he’s not tall and doesn’t jump, so they’re very predictable and don’t result in quality clearances. He gets a lot of disposals but they are messy contested possessions. Often times he’s just nicking disposals that should be in the hands of someone like Pendlebury or Sidebottom.

Apart from the huge difference in salary the Pies prefer Darcy Cameron because he can play forward, he’s a better mark and better tap ruck who keeps it simple in his role.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
