No change - emergency list looks like a seniors day out.

And not a 'whipping boy' amongst them...

No Gawn, Jackson or TMac.

On a positive note it's a chance for Weed to step up and play a big one.

Anyway, on a more serious note.. what's Pedo up to these days??

Alistair Nicholson?

And the Adelaide team?

laird possibly out

Dogga out at the Boomers basketball match tonight…surely this injury chat is rubbish..? As others said, he was named three hours ago, then rumour of an injury…hope he didn’t try and shoot hoops a la Petracca a few years ago

Well they said Mitch.Brown is on stand by. He'd be on stand by anyway that's how it works.

Now they're saying Jackson's out. When did he hurt his knee?

If our rucks stock are Mitch brown & weiderman god help us. Our midfield will just have to work that bit harder

M Brown in.

Ruck Weed and promote JVR, Mitch goes missing in the forward line at AFL level. All well and good to reward effort but pointless in Mitch's case as he will let you down at AFL level.

Mitch has done okay on the rare occasions he’s been given an opportunity. It’s true that he didn’t shine against  Collingwood when the team was very much under the pump with multiple injuries but quite a few others also let us down.

He came back to the VFL last week and was on fire kicking 6.6 so I think he deserves a chance. The question if he plays is which of the Browns plays the second ruck role and which plays key forward? Or do they have a bit of a merry go round  with Weid and both Browns sharing the ruck and forward duties between them?

I’d be bringing Tomlinson we need a big body to help Weed in the ruck. Not saying Tommo good in the ruck but just need size.

If Weed gets injured we are rooted

* things I never thought I’d say

Don't understand how Mitch Brown is one of the emergencies when he was tried for 2 games and was found wanting.

The emergency list is never chosen on the basis of the next best four players. There's always a mix to enable coverage of onballers, key position players and ruckmen. Presumably the match committee believes Mitch Brown is the better key position or ruck option than van Rooyen and, because of injuries, there's no-one else. I would have expected any one of Turner, Joel Smith or Daw (who, if he hadn't been injured may not yet have retired) would have been selected ahead of M Brown.

The DeeBrief is reporting that Dogga is out for the crows with a minor PCL strain. 😳😳😳 Mitch Brown in? The horror….

Where is Daw!

Wow in the space of 2 matches the Weid has gone from not in the side to No.1 ruckman!

My first thought on reading this earlier today was how the heck did the news get into the public domain so quickly. Do we have a rat feeding journos info or was Dogga just gormless enough to mention it in conversation to someone.

The last I heard was that Dogga was travelling to Adelaide to test there. I imagine it’s hard to keep a football secret in Adelaide, particularly an opposition fitness test.

If Carlton go with Silvagni....

Tomlinson?

Has he ever rucked?
I would be tempted to play Chandler or JVR in front of M Brown.

TBH we have had ruck dominance for almost 20 years and the opposition mids became experts at taking it away. Hope our guys were watching how it's done.

Far more worried about which forward line will show up tomorrow

FWIIW. The last player I can recall who went from a struggling full forward into the ruck was Graham Teasdale at South Melbourne.

Won a Brownlow in a dominant season. Not saying Weid is as good but what's the harm in giving him a run. He has footy smarts just not enough oomph.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!
