We went in too tall which means we kick long and play into their hands.

Selection was terrible this week.

We have not handled pressure this year well and the last 3 weeks we have gone to water. Too many players want the easy handball instead of doing the team things.

We are so spooked we have zero flow to our game.

Collingwood structure is brilliant, we look like we're running on fumes. I will do anything to come out of this with an ugly win today. It feels like trying to scrap for a win in 2014.

We have not done enough, I'm not convinced we're going to do enough. Change my mind.

We’re seriously on the ropes here. Season is spiraling downwards here if we can’t get some fit players standing up to keep us in the top four.

How many injuries have we got? I just saw Mitch Brown playing down back with no Petty in sight after that marking contest.

Turner and petty were off for various injuries

going to be a tough last quarter

Understatement!

Probably no Turner and possibly Petty.

disappointing effort that quarter, we started well but then just stopped chasing. letting them run the ball out of defense too easily our forwards are not applying any pressure on them. We have to stop letting them have the easy kicks out of defense. they keep whittling away our lead, now is the time for those players not doing a lot to stand up.

I can feel a Collingwood blow out, 28 point loss is my call

Positives?????

Scoreboard says we are still ahead.

keep the faith

Some discussions to be had here in the post-game thread. If we get home, will be doing well, just so banged up and missing those few key players.

Same thing happens every week long bombs into our forward line straight to the spare in defense ffs!!!

If we can get more out of our forward entries we can win , if not no hope

M Brown poor. Bring back Weid next game.

Did a couple of decent things that quarter but far too quiet and lacks intensity on his opponent.  Pushed off the ball too easily.  Still zero goals and thats what he's there for.

Would need to kick a couple of goals this quarter or at least one plus a few asists to have any chance of holding his spot.

Sparrow looks very shakey with the ball and too loose without at this stage.  ANB far too quiet.  Again unless they lift and do something pretty special it's Bedford time for one of those two pls.

We look light years behind where we were last year. I honestly can't see how we'll win this. The Pies look much better going forward and we're still bombing it in. Also, they took 10 to 1 contested marks!?

Whether we win or lose, there are some very troubling issues across the ground, and they aren't fixed simply by May returning.

Finally, why are we so good at making spuds look good? Mihochek does nothing and against us looks gold. Don't even get me started on Cox.

Who's going to stand up for this term?

Ed Langdon having a quiet day

Issues in the backline, but we desperately need someone to stand up down forward.

We were relatively cruising 2 weeks ago, now we barely have any idea how to score. There is a serious butt-load of questions that need to be asked, but let’s just see what spirit the guys have.

Im backing them in.

Thankgod we have brayshaw. My god may on miocheck would be handy right now.

Honestly I'm not sure we can hold on. We are out on our feet. Or Goodwin needs to regroup this team.

We only have 7 goals until 3/4 time. Our goalkicking is a massive massive concern.

Every single player needs to dig deep and play there hearts out this final 30 minutes

Cox an easy candidate with the 52nd Kent Kingsley Award For Spuds That Play Well Against Melbourne.

This is so hard to watch. We have NONE of the contest/forward urgency that was the REASON for our flag. Static, stop, slow, then bomb. Hence 10 contested marks to 1 in that quarter. 10 TO 1!!!! How can this possibly be Goody’s intention? It’s literally like we’re trying to make it as hard as possible to score when we get the ball. HELP ME UNDERSTAND, somebody please!

if collingwood are any good, they'll run over the top of us in the last. We have so many injuries today.

2 goals after half time, 3 weeks in a row

Would be good if the boys grind it out for a win.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
