Well no smoking meat for me today... Not unless they let me drag the big girl into the MCG

 :roos:

Despite the changes, and the potential for more I'm still not worried. You don't play individuals now you play a system

Hawks may actually play their normal game against us which may mean an open game.

They are a real chance.

Well I'm happy to say I'll be going to the footy in daylight - at least for a short while. I had therefore, planned to return to The Manor at a decent hour but as I'm meeting with a couple of Demonland lunatics, the post game libations could be my Boozerloo .

As to the forced changes ...... well you always want to go in with your best team but .....footy being footy, that rarely happens.

Despite that, we are still putting a bloody good outfit on the 'G that will squash the Hawks without overmuch bother. However, that statement is subject to review, if we lose ( touch giant tree) anymore pre game.

Will have eyes on Bedford of course but Tmac must realise he's under pressure so he will be having a decent crack. Milkshake as a late in provides another point of interest .

The skies are clear (ish) in Romsey, so I'm tipping decent conditions tonight, which may give Weid and BBB a chance to grab a couple

Adversity often brings out the best, so on the punt, I'm going for Dees 40+ and I'll try and find a decent goals/possesions multi to go with it.

My ungrateful domestic staff still haven't returned from their free camping trip ( maybe they're having difficulty  unpitching their tents) so The Manor is a bleak and lonely place currently.

Dees winning streak to continue.

This game has suddenly got a lot more interesting. No doubt covid protocols have evened up the odds but we are still going in with a strong team

Looking forward to seeing how our system holds up with all the changes in personnel. Losing Kossie and Nibbler will impact our forward half pressure but hopefully Bedford can bring some heat to compensate

I’m bringing my boy along to his first game. He’s excited and so am I

Despite the changes we’ll win

In a old fashioned shoot out Dees still win in what will be an entertaining clash!

I’m mentally preparing myself for the fact that we might be flat, with all the COVID in the group. No doubt in my mind there’s at least one player playing who has it and doesn’t know it yet.

The side still looks strong on paper though. I’m still pretty confident we should get the job done easily, but the sheen of invincibility I had earlier in the week has gone.

Jane Bunn lied to me all week. the skies are clear with no rain forecast today.

a drier footy suits us

uncertainty leading into the game is not ideal. Anyone with a scratchy throat will be thinking they have the Vid. 1/4 of the team out in one week is a concern. I am most concerned about our run and pressure fwd of the ball with Kozzi and ANB out. Melksham is not a runner or a pressure player

If we win the fear meter from other teams will go thru the roof!

All we need from Bedford and Melksham is tackle, tackle, tackle and keep the ball in our f50.  Others can kick the goals.

Still thinking dees 3-5 goals.

Great structure and game plan, the quality of your best 6 players and the depth of your bottom 6 is usually what wins games.

Unless we lose more today we are still in a good position particularly if it stays dry.

It will be close at half time.

Then we flick the switch.

Its generous  of us to let them think they are a chance for a while.

Coming over from Hobart today for this. Was hoping to sit Level 4 Ponsford but seems it is closed. Where will @binman sit?

Top post.

I'm confident Beford will be ok.  Melk has a bit to prove and should do so if sensible.

Your'e first comment on the fear factor will be fascinating to watch if we do win.

relaxed with Yze and Williams and others on the case also.

For all the doom and gloom this week " Covid" we have been back in to win. Dee's now $1.18 Hawks $5.00

Those are ridiculous odds.

We won’t know how much more impact Covid has had on the team until the bounce. More late outs could throw us into disarray as it’s not like we can plan for possible outs if we know someone is under an injury cloud.
We also have no idea how much losing Kosi and ANB will impact the team. That’s two of our key pressure players forward of the centre.
Hawks are fast and will play an open game. They will make mistakes but they can also hurt us on the counterattack if they move it quickly.
There is no doubt this is a danger game.

@Josh disappointing. As a fellow meat smoker I am shocked and dismayed at this brazen display of not pregame smoking meat.

Smoke some meat during the day today. Take the meat with you my dear boy. Why not add the hot meat fresh out of thermocontainer to your charcuterie board. I mean you are a Melbourne member...

This is going to be really interesting. I’m not at all sure how our system will stack up in the face of so many outs, including the coach. If we can get the job done this will be an incredible shot in the arm for an already confident group.

Of the ins Melksham is the biggest worry for me. He has form for underwhelming pressure although I will admit he looked pretty good for Casey last week. Regardless, there is no way he can cover the distance to fill holes that nibbler regularly does.

There is so much Melbourne in this post it's gone past ironic and back to true snobbery... And I love it.

Down from the Vic/NSW border and I can tell that when I even hinted of the $85 jumbuck rotisserie making the trip with us I was met with a glare to rival the crows 2017 finals efforts.

The boss if off to the dfo and me and the kids have discovered a German meat house, just patiently waiting for it to open now.

I'll hit up Alexander's for a celebratory stogie and we're laughing. Staying in Fitzroy though, can't find a Carlton draught anywhere...

When is the last time Bedford played a full game? Been the sub 3 times this year? Not good preparation for the kid, hope he goes alright but I won’t be judging him too harshly once he chases hard

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
