Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Behinds, behinds, behinds, a real worry!

One day we are going to be beaten by a team scoring 5 goals: 0 behinds to our 0 goals: 29 behinds (or similar).

Lol no we won't! We'll still keep them to 3 goals, 10 points.

Coz it’s Steven effing May…

Correct.

When you are the best FB in the league by the length of the Flemington straight, it's ok if you make a mistake.

Also the correlation between May making mistakes and Smith being in the side are not lost on anyone.

Just had a look back at the stats, Clayton is a genuine beast!

Thought dunstan worked his way into the game nicely as well, great depth going forward.

Go Dees!!

In his press conf Goodwin spoke about Weideman.  One comment was that he took his opportunities.  He said a significant point was when we were 4.16 and the pressure was on the next player having a shot.  Weideman was that player.  He absorbed the pressure and slotted it.

Nailing a goal under pressure like that is another big step in his development.

Regardless of what folks think his faults are I doubt he is being dropped any time soon.

That’s one improvement in his game. A couple of years ago he would have missed it.

If he was drafted at 49 and called Sam Smith he would gone by now.

That's complete bs old dee. You honestly think he is still on the list only because he was pick 9 and is a Weideman? You think Goody et al are that shallow?

The fact he's now contibuting and the FD dropped Tmac for him shows his value

It's still early days. Let's see how the season pans out

I have watched the replay and ANB kicking and disposal was poor he had at least 4 getable shots at goal.

Some on this site have criticised J Smith for his handball to Lynch yet when other players have a poor handall like May in the 3rd quarter resulting in a Riewoldt goal nothing was said.

Runs on the board mate

I thought that ta the time too - big pressure goal considering the number of misses to that point. We then kicked 3 or so goals in the next few minutes and iced the game.

And he is now very liable with set shots.

Yes OD have noticed his preparation is now a well timed method. Dare i say that unit that plays at FF for Cats.

When you get the big boys saying how hard to match up on.

And OD, Weideman got a good left foot too..

Yes. I gave a big thumbs up to Weideman then. (I hope he will treasure that.) At a time when it seemed like goals were impossible, where even a player running into an open goal might manage to stub their toe and have the ball roll out of bounds, Weideman nailed the pressure shot. Well done Weid. Now take 9 grabs next week and kick 6.1

6-0 to start out defence of the flag I will take in any season. Just as I will enjoy getting the 4 points in any H&A game.

Did I find it frustrating to see so many gettable goals turned into points? I sure did but on replay I managed to put that aspect of the game aside and watch the way we controlled the game building on a rock solid defence and moving the ball well through the midfield. Always looked to be winners. I also think that the players and coaches will learn a lot from that game as the Tiges look to be in damage control from the very early stages of the game and looked to keep numbers behind the ball and not allow us any space to work in in our forward 50.

A couple of critical players missing out through H&S protocols and we slotted in a couple of others on the list and the team just accepted what it was on got on with the game.

Smith and Dunstan were both more than adequate during the game And have given the list a boost with regard to depth. With just 3 on the injury list at the moment we have unrivaled quality depth available to cover any requirements.

Enjoyed the games from Oliver, Langdon, Jordon, Sparrow and Hunt.

Bowey has been so consistently good over the journey of his 13 undefeated games, that I must admit to taking his game a bit for granted. Tackles well and always looks to have plenty of time when he ha the ball in hand.

On to Hawthorn.... 7-0? Yes please!

I mentioned in game day but seeing it live the closing speed of our defenders is very impressive. Hunt and Smith have limitations for sure but I don't see them going out for another player who doesn't have the same ability to close down space or spoil that puts huge pressure on the opposition.

We can wear some slip ups from those 2 but we can't replace the value of the above.

The Tomo's and maybe Hibbs become back ups and only come in for injuries.

Hibbo has not been slow at any of his footy with us other than for one season 2020.

His talent is very good at most skills in the game and thsts enabled him to be a warrior like in the Finals year.

I don't discount the speed of both Hunty and Smithy in closing speed and that is special but not a must play attribute that keeps them in the team.

Hunty played just best game defensively in his 100th vs Tigers and he was most unlucky on the season to miss out with injury.

Smithy had improved a lot from last year but still has the brain fade and footy nous Clanger so that only he can produce. To be fair they are rarer and rarer these days and credit to him and the coaches as he is getting an injury free tun he deserves to make a fist of it.

We are so fortunate to have all three who  each brings different skill sets for us to enjoy and appreciate along with the AA others snd youngsters Petty Bowey and Riv.

Under 10 goals a game conceded is extraordinary considering our availability this season.

Coaches  take a bow please

How good a player has Bayley Fritsch become? His two goals broke the game open. He had a pretty “quiet” game but could still easily have had 5 - he was rarely inaccurate (2.2) and gave one off to Petracca. I can’t think of a player who does more damage with such a low disposal count in our team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
