Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No big trades like this end up really hurting side they leave.

at the end of the day we are going to get a good deal for a kid who "could" be a gun.  he had a big part in getting us a flag, and this trade could be a big part in our next!

Above all I'm convinced of this. We can talk about generational talents all we want but it's more likely his departure will spark the making of a formidable Melbourne side.

You never checked out of a job when you’ve got a better offer somewhere else?

Playing football isn’t like a typical job. It is played out in the public arena, where a brand is built.

And if he has indeed ‘checked out’, that says a lot about him competitiveness and commitment to his teams, while playing for a team that is 2nd on the ladder and in a match against an arch rival

Any chance  we could’ve played the safe option and chose the local boy in Hayden Young who is tracking towards being clearly one of the best players of that 2019 draft?

The talk at the time coming off a very poor 2019 was that we severely lacked outside players who could deliver the footy and provide outside run as we had a plethora of inside mids but zero outside ball use.

Draft experts noted Hayden Young was the absolute perfect fit for our list needs but also was best available after Rowell and Anderson.

I know Jackson played some part in our grand final win like 21 other blokes on the night so I'll be appreciate of that.

But I've watched Young closely since his AFL debut and then again his BOG performance Friday night and in my honest opinion he'll be a star of the comp.

I wasn't entirely sure at the time when at a crucial stage in out development in nailing those early picks in the draft, we reached for a athletic ruckman who was said to need improvement on his contested marking. But the moment we drafted him I threw my full support behind Jacko.

Unfortunately hindsight is wonderful but ideally yes when you have an early pick as we did we probably needed to take that safer option.

You're not suggesting this is acceptable are you?

In that case he's got a notice period of 2 months to go and the company is better off walking him out of the building.

Well the way to get him, is to get into his head we can bring him home for Jacko. He then has to say he is homesick and wants to leave. Even the media would hammer the Dockers, where they refuse him, but demand Jacko be allowed to come home for the same reason.

But then folks would see Jackson playing and bemoan the fact we didn't take him... it's like clockwork.

Unfortunately Young signed a massive 5 year deal to 2027 to commit to his club, which so happens to be an interstate club.

Massive respect there for loyalty unlike some.

Tim English is starting to turn into a very handy player, I personally feel LJ has shown more than what English ever had at this time in his career. I think he will turn into a gun just a shame it won’t be with us.

At the moment Jacko is running around with a heavily strapped knee and hasn't been the same since he damaged his PCL. Just as Max recovered from his ankle injury but he is still carrying the back injury from Cox's knee. Both rucks are playing injured at the moment and it shows.

Contracts and worth are based on a body of work, not the last month. Jackson has played 46 games to date about 2 seasons worth. In normal circumstances, he is about a $ 500-600 K player in my opinion and even then that is good coin after 2 years. Ruckman take time and peak much later in their career. The money Free is allegedly offering is obscene and way out of sync with others on their list. I would be angry with MFC if they tried too hard to match it.

Maybe West Coast offer their first round and Oscar Allen for him. I would take that in a heartbeat.

JT got too cute taking a 'ruck' who can't mark

Jacko is a natural mid but Goody will never play him there

He's marking much better than last season and is developing that skill well for his age.

I agree that he's a mid but I don't think that strategically works for us yet on balance. There's no way he's pushing Viney/Oliver/Petracca out of the centre bounce until they're sure his body can handle it on a weekly basis.

Are we really talking down Jacko here?

If I could have any 20 and under player in the comp, it would be him. He's a couple of years away from being the most dynamic player in the competition.

There has yet to be a 200cm + player with his skill set and IQ to play our game.

If there's any question about his lack of professionalism, which I don't think there is, then you wouldn't pick him to play next week.

And, by the way, we're surely not bagging out Jason Taylor now, are we?

I really hope Jackson and Bradshaw re-sign - this whole thing leaves a bit of a bad taste after the fairy-tale that was last year.

That said, I have every confidence that JT will turn whatever compensation we get into (at least) two very good replacements for them.

I think things are at the point in time from a team POV that this needs cleaning up, even if it means they all go out and get [censored] together again..

I am just so peeved that we could have done a deal for Cerra last year if Jackson said he was probably leaving at the end of his contract.
We could have got someone we wanted, needed and was keen to come to us.
His timing is putrid!!!

Keep talking him up - I know for a fact that Freo recruiters read this site

There is really no need to hand over Serong, Young and Andy Brayshaw:- am sure Young and AB would do the trick.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
