Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Personally, I think any player or coach who has helped me have a sliver of sporting joy in my life by winning a premiership can do whatever the [censored] they want without any grievance...

Can I completely agree with this statement and still boo him if he starts to play well against us? Don’t take all the fun out of it!

Interesting.

How do you feel about Lever ? I'm sure you loved that he came to us.

And what do you know about Luke's situation. Nothing I imagine.

Supporters get way too caught up in emotionality about an individual they know nothing about.

I’m fine with Lever, he made sure Adelaide were well compensated by us. As long as Dogga does the same by us there won’t be any I’ll will from me. If he walks to the psd I’ll boo him for the rest of his career. It’s up to him

You are right, I have no idea what his situation is, but I think if there were greater issues going on with family, we would have supported him and given him leave as we did with Kosi when his mum died. We have shown over and over again that we are a family club and that we support our players when they need it.

Like I said, if he is truly home sick and has valid reasons to go home, then so be it. He should nominate WA as his home, NOT the Fremantle Football Club. I hope that is the case and I hope it is a win win situation.

Doesn't mean I want to see Jackson go on to become the best player in the competition. I have no interest in helping other teams get better. Do you?

JNM, I think it was Goodwindees who stated/hinted some months back that the move home was for reasons more significant than just homesickness. And if he goes, it certainly will open up some good opportunities for us. So I have no problem wishing him well. I hope he can reach his full playing potential despite the burden he will now have to carry - whichever club he goes too. But I very much doubt he will. Unfortunately, I believe that his full potential would have been reached at the MFC.

The player has 0 say in what trade deal is done between clubs.

Some will think this is a strange thing to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if our FD are fine with almost pushing out LJ, providing we can plug multiple deficiencies on our list with the capital his trade will hopefully provide.

Yep it can be a win win for both clubs

Not sure why we never experimented with him as an inside mid, or on the wing

Hang on, I think I do actually...:goody:

Inside mid, why obviously our clearances are a deficiency but that’s to be expected with the likes of Oliver, Viney, Trac, Brayshaw and Harmes running through the middle 🤔🤔🤔

Totally agree. It’s football and it’s tribal. So… thanks Jacko for being part of it in 2021.
Hope you enjoy going home and I hope you don’t snag another flag and we of course do.
Pretty simple, you are now the enemy.

Not totally correct 'Nev'...Danger gave up his rights as a free agent so the Cats had to trade.

This is not the same but if Jackson doesn't nominate a club then in effect he is influencing the deal a bit.

IF he went to WC and we got 2 and 20, we could split 2, if we don't want Cadman and have our eye on others,  who the split picks could still get. That would give you 3 picks inside 20 and maybe even a player somewhere in the deals.

It would certainly open up a lot of options.

Then you tell Pies its our next pick in the 30's for Grundy or he stays.

This trade period and draft could really change our list for the better, if we are smart with drafting and trading.

Meth Coke need midfielders, cant see them offering pick 2 for Jackson unless they can split Pick 2 into multiple picks.

They also need a NicNat replacement. And a Kennedy replacement. And basically everything. I wouldn't give up pick 2 for Jackson, but they might.

Either way, having 2 clubs competing for him is better for us, and that is all that matters.

Sure a player can nominate a club, but again the player does not in any way determine the deal, that's done by the clubs themselves.

No I will will from me, either.

What we have here is the old double standard that afflicts supporters of every club in the AFL.

Player requests trade to my team:  Legend!  Great decision!  He'll be a champion!  Onya son!  Coup!

Player requests trade from my team:  Boo!  Traitor!  Hope you never win a flag!  Ungrateful!

West Coast need to get a few good players out of this trade period in my opinion.
perhaps they split pick 2 with us getting one of the( perhaps the lower pick somewhere in the teens)and we swap first rounds picks next year.
They then get Jackson and a good pick this year while staying in the first round next year and we get a pick this year and a very good pick next year.
Lots of options now that West Coast are reportedly back in the picture.

I guess it's not always the same ... You'd have to look at the context of the situation to be able to determine when a player has done wrong by the club.

I believe the issue with Jackson is that we drafted him and it's been just 3 years, hard not to feel angry about the situation

Just because I don’t wish Jackson well in his career, doesn’t mean I don’t wish him well in his personal life, or appreciate what he did for us while in red and blue.

As a supporter I have every right to feel disappointed and pass judgement on what I feel is a poor career move, which I also feel is a soft decision in what is a short career (compared to most careers anyway).

I will be delighted if he stayed, but I think the circus around his decision was a major distraction this year and I’m really disappointed that he wasn’t clear on his intention last year when we had Cerra wanting to come to us! Now we will likely get screwed over as Freo don’t have a great trade hand and they’ve signed most of their best players.

Edit: please don’t compare Jackson to Lever. Adelaide was a dumpster fire post camp. Lever had a serious partner (now wife and mother of his children), and obviously had intentions to raise his kids near family. Jackson is leaving the reigning premiers, and is 20 without a partner or kids to consider.
The two situations are completely different.

Jeff White, Ed Langdon thoughts on those moves back home.

Referring to Jackson’s decision as poor and soft is I’ll informed. “ I’m a supporter who has a right”is a cop out, it’s like saying I pay my money to get into a game so I can boo whoever I like

You have no idea why he’s returning home, he’s given his all to us for 3 seasons and was a massive part of us breaking a 57 year drought.

I wish him well and have faith our FD will use whatever compensation we get to improve our list.

We applaud Vic players returning home and never refer to them as soft

Would people be happy for the following trade to happen?!

West Coast get Jackson and our pick 34

We get pick 2 and 26

We get Cadman and give pies 26 for Grundy

I’d go pick 2, 26 and Darling For our 2nd rounder and LJ.

We then trade pick 26 for Grundy and end up with Cadman, Darling and Grundy.

I don’t think Darling would want to come to Melbourne though but who knows.

Agree, we stuck with our method for most of the season and no doubt the changes in game plan they tried to implement were to late and show why we need to continually evolve

Who leaves work for a go home factor in real life?

Not many have the opportunity to. Most people work where they’ve always lived, and who could blame them? Families are better together.

Jackson put his hand up in the draft in 2019 and had no say on where he would be going. He’s given us three years, he’s seen out his contract. As a premiership player for us, I’ll still love him and wish him all the best back west.

Does anyone have two picks in the top 20 they would trade us for pick 2 that is fair and equitable?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
