POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs

Featured Replies

I haven't cried yet, but I reckon when the noise dies down and the family goes to bed, a few tears might fall over a wee Glenfiddich. I have waited so long and feel so calm and happy.

We did it my beloved family, we did it!! ❤️💙

Seriously thought this day would never come. Halfway through the 3rd I was already preparing for the loss. But then Caleb Daniel threw Gawn to the astro turf and the Demons were unleashed. The rest is history!

This is for all of us who have waited for so so long. Love you all, this club, everyone. Go you good things.

I am so so pleased that Max on live tv mentioned the names of Dean Bailey, Sean Wight, Colin Syliva and Troy Broadbridge in particular as a way to honor them, their contribution to the fabric of their club and their remaining families.

Only just stopped crying. Started in the third quarter.

I love every single one of you, Demonland. You’ve kept me sane and entertained and informed for a good couple of decades.

I'm thinking of neita, the ox, the whiz Jeff white, Todd Viney & many others.  Neale daniher even though he is a former coach, Jimmy & Sean wights family, Robbie flowers kids, Troy's family, Colin's family & others we lost.

I arrived in Australia in 1991. I fell in love with the local religion, football. I barracked for the Demons because of fellow Irishmen, Jim Stynes and Sean Wight. I went to games with Irish mates who also barrack for the Demons. The club is like family for a fella who is a long way from home. After everything that has happened in the last 30 years, this is a great day. We miss Jimmy and Sean. They would be so proud today. I am proud to be a Melbourne member. We have a great club that we can all be proud of. I can’t wait to do more screaming at the ‘G! See you there! I love yee all.

Beautiful - Max talking about ND's influence.🥲

What a win. What a season. So much sweeter that they challenged us and we smacked them off the park. So sweet.

Forty nine years a Demons supporter.

So this is what it feels like.

I'm still not sure exactly what the fluck it does feel like, but I know I like it!

I can't believe it.

I can't believe this has happened.

Not ashamed at all to say I cried after the final siren.

We've been through so much here on Demonland, as all Melbourne supporters have. To finally do it, is just unreal.

A quick shout out to @Wiseblood, who I hope still kicks around here, as well as @Rogue and @45HG, two of the posters who were constants on here during the terrible eras. Hope you guys are lapping this up wherever you are now.

GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS!!!!

Yes, a bad move by Daniel! He looked like he meant it, too.

The analysis will come (there is so much reading and re-watching to come), but I'm coming around to the thought now that when all is said and done, the 2021 Melbourne season will go down as one of the greatest seasons of AFL football in recent memory.

Only 4 losses, blowing three of the next four best sides in it off the park in our finals, and doing it all through a pandemic away from home.

Just dropped some serious dollarydoos on merch, no regrets 😍

Put Gus back in the middle, could have had 45 touches

Dad and me have done nothing but hug and cry. Seriously this is one of the most emotional moments of my life. Thank you so much demons. Will never ever forget what you did for us today.
I’ll never have kids and doubt I’ll marry, so this is the best moment of my life. And to enjoy my brothers joy together on Skype. Unbelievable.

More than happy to wear sailor moon buns for a week at work. Don’t worry expect photos btw. 😉

What a great feeling to win a premiership after 57 years. Well done to all the supporters who stayed loyal in the bad years. CARN THE DEMONS.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G. The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made. Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night? All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

Before Sunday, the last time the Brisbane Lions had walked onto the turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, they celebrated the pinnacle of the sport - an AFL premiership secured in emphatic fashion for the second consecutive year.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
