Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

a 20th team solves the bye issue but trying to start two new teams at the same time would be so disruptive requiring 90 new players and massive concessions affecting existing teams. expect them to go 1 team at a time

I wouldn't be surprised if the Suns fold. They're a nothing team. That'll solve the odd number of teams problem.

I'm delighted Tassy have a team. Should have happened a long time ago.

And i doubt player retention will be a problem. It's not a problem for the cats and Hobart is a much nicer spot than Geelong.

Why not use a fraction of the funding for the new stadium and use it to redevelop Bellerive Oval instead?

Bellerive is in a residential area with bad traffic and public transport after big crowds. Apart from traffic and transport, Macquarie Point is also a much better location from a hospitality and tourism point of view.

I’d pick Tasmania over Surfers Paradise or Bondi every time. Actually both of those places would be very close to the bottom of the list of anywhere in Australia to live.

Your favourite players are Brett Lovett & Robbie Flower. I dare say that you are unlikely to be the target demographic of AFL recruiters.

Ironically the introduction of a Tassie club could be the thing that finally does what Jeff Kennett has been banging on about for years and kill a Victorian club. The irony being Hawthorn rely on Tassie for their funding and without it, it could be them, after decades of Jeff suggesting it will be us.

Logically though North Melbourne will be in huge trouble when they lose their Tassie money. Lowest membership in Victoria, famously low attendances and always struggle financially. This will be interesting.

Tassie entering the comp is only a good thing! I suspect perceptions of player retention is born from views established prior to 2013 or so. Hobart is a different proposition now - with many features desirable to a large portion of people.

And the supporter base will be fiercely passionate - the Tasmanian Devils will fit seamlessly into footy folklore.

Obviously not all Tasmanians drafted will play there, but still.

In recent times, especially good defensive players, for some reason:Screenshot2023-04-27at4_45_13pm.thumb.png.38bf1a0503a89e687d787bfa030cb38f.png

How dare you insinuate I’m old! I’ve only seen highlights of those 2 on Tik Tok. 😉

Not sure about your last line BDA. I travelled to Hobart quite a lot in my working life. It is overcast and cold for a large part of the year. If I had to choose between southern QLD and Hobart it would not be Hobart.

Does anyone have a decent idea as to the possible timeline for any of this?

2027/2028 is being suggested

The next bargaining agreement with the players will run for 3-4 years. It is thought to be difficult to introduce a new team during the currency of that agreement

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
