Not a chance the Pies go for an untried coach.. that club is falling apart, they will not trust the future of a club to a first time coach. Its Ross Lyon's to lose..

I agree with that.

The club is in turmoil and landing a big fish Coach, who declared he wanted stability, could stop the Board challenges and pacify the members.

I posted that Clarkson has to be the primary target and he said what you would expect him to say. However, Mitchell is there wanting the senior job, with the Hawks desperate to keep him  and Clarkson has one year left and a President who would happily let him go and then install Mitchell in the job.

Why would Buckley go mid year, unless they were worried they would miss their target, if they waited? That to me excludes Yze and any other untried Coach.

Remember the other team who they hate across town, who may also be looking for a senior coach.

If the word was out that the Blues were sounding Clarkson out, the Pies would be desperate to beat them to the punch.

A similar scenario would exist if Clarkson was unavailable and then Lyon becomes the hot property.

I think if the Pies were looking at an untried coach, Buckley would have stayed until the end of the season, as there would be no urgency.

We will know soon enough.

Totally agree Mr Redleg.

I'd rather sack goodwin and promote yze if im being honest. the improvement of 2021 seems to come directly off the back of yze and williams joining. With the same list it cant be coincidental.

Of coarse there are still some demonlanders out there who won't give Goodwin credit for anything. Inevitable.

No chance, none, nada, bare my Ar$3 in Bourke St if this happens.

Also just by the by, I love Yze as a Melbourne guy and thought he could play with rare sublime skill, but I remember him as an outside player who did not often put his 'head over the ball'. And that's ok, you need a mix of styles etc. But I always though as coach, exhorting your players to go hard, when it was not your style, might not have the same weight with a team? The other coaches going around at the moment, who were not premiership coaches, I have always thought they were at least 'head over the ball types'. I can see Yze as a skills coach, as a game day tactician etc, I am just not a 100% sure that he is the main man type. I searched his highlights to see if I remember things unfairly, but is as I remember. This game where he tore WC a new one, was a case of really bad BO, no comprehension as to why WC didn't play him a bit closer.

I would expect nothing else from you.

You can also take Mark Williams out of the equation. No way Collingwood will appoint him.

And unless Adem Yze has changed his name by deed poll, that's how it's spelt and pronounced.

Bit over the ignorance of most sports journalists and commentators who are too lazy to know better.

Simply disrespectful.

Posted similar 'red'...I think it will be Lyon and Clarkson.

Take the pick of which to which club but my thinking is Clarkson to Collingwood and Lyon to Carlton.

I actually feel for Teague, he's being hung out to dry and probably won't be given the opportunity to see the job through.

I wish both clubs a miserable futures full of failure.

I hope that is not being too unkind.

Perfectly reasonable

My mail from someone who is close to a CFC board member is that Ross Lyon will be coaching them

Hope this is right it would be a shame to lose Yze particularly as things seem to be falling in place finally for Dee’s

He can get the senior job at Melbourne in a time

I see maggies becoming MFC seconds. I thought they would keep it quiet...

Malthouse- experienced coach at Bulldogs and Premiership coach from two team town said nothing prepared him for scrutiny put on a Collingwood coach

NFI.  So let me guess it’s all Goodwins fault when we lose but when we are winning it’s all the other coaches who are responsible.
Spare me mate

I tipped this at the start of the year along with a demon premiership.

I was loving this season, until this.

If Yze or Williams leave this club right now, I will kill myself.

Was listening to Lyon today on MMM.
Is playing the Roos card.
Saying he'll happily meet with them but not really interested.
Working 7hrs a week special comments game days and another 6 for Talking Footy.

I can't understand why any club would want him to be honest.
Gets decent results but turns clubs unwatchable IMO.

six hours for talking footy? he's having a lend there

Lyon and Mitchell would be Favourites for the Blues or Pies.

6mths of the year off.
No pressure, etc, etc.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
