And to make matters worse, when we do get the ball inside 50, it’s bouncing straight back out. We are defending poorly all over the ground.
Brisbane, as I said, are a much better side than the Dogs. Strong across every line. Our forwardline is average at best and our midfield while good on paper, can get blown apart in clearances. We need to fix these issues before finals, or it won’t be a long campaign.

Yep they are likely Grand Finalists no doubt

We have no midfield depth so when clarry and trac are being held there's no one else to pick up the load. Harmes is our 3rd best mid and he was playing vfl 2 weeks ago. Not a dig at sparrow or Jordon as they're young but we need to sort this out

Only two ways this'll go:

- Lions start converting, we get smoked because it's flattering that we're only 20 points down.

- We work out we are being smoked and the boys lift and stop letting the Lions play this on their terms. Mids need to run harder, defence gotta communicate better. We need to lock that ball in our f50 and stop them waltzing the ball in their f50.

Got to stop being bullied. We look soft.

Yea as excited as I have been this season...its shades of dees past

Bruise free footy im sad to say.

Why cant weid or Tmac qt least crash a pack?

Cos as skilled as we are at times we lack the necessary physicality.

Lions dont.

I swear if Melksham doesn’t start getting involved I will lose my mind. He is so soft, so loose, so uninvolved. I’m so over him.

Our defence gets interceptions because of fwd mid pressure which isn’t there tonight

Yep need to start crashing packs. Making it to easy for them and they're killing us when the ball hits the ground

Without Viney we really lack that brutality in the middle.

We need to change things up completely and I’d even try Jackson as a ruck rover to Gawn taking the ball high.

Friends, Crunts and Romanryman - let’s all take it easy on each other eh?

it’s just footy - let’s remember DeanOx lost his mum today

this a very good footy lesson in a long long season

Brisbane totally out playing us, their pressure and the perceived pressure are making us make bad decisions. Our work rate is not at the level it needs to be to compete against the best sides. I haven’t felt like we have controlled any period of this game and are lucky to be as close as we are. We need to lift big time if we are to win or even stay close.

Would be a good idea for some to play in front of their opponent

Fritsch with two goals and pressuring well with limited opportunities is doing fine.
Petty has been ok.
agree with the rest

2 goals to fritsch

Get your hand off it. 1 was gifted to him in the goal square

He's been useless. Watch the game

I don't mind losing, but the Lions are not this far ahead of us. I at least want to boys to put that half behind them and make them earn it. Good sides don't get smoked.

We're being tested.

We CAN do this.

Half the team have barely sighted the ball, they should be fresh as to run them off their feet.

We were all very right to get excited by Kozzie - and still are - but in the last few matches a little reality has started to kick in. He’s a kid who’s still finding his way (and boy, won’t he). But I’ve noticed I don’t get the same rush of anticipation when he gets near the ball. Just hoping he does something good with it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
