Sorry to rain on your parade (chortle!), but the weather app is now saying that from 7pm onwards, there's a 70% to 80% chance of rain at Sydney Olympic Park.

We have seats on the boundary so I am hoping for no rain tonight!

Which weather app is that? The BOM app says "Medium (60%) chance of showers along the coastal fringe, slight (30%) chance elsewhere, during the evening and at night." I assume Giants Stadium being at Sydney Olympic Park wouldn't be considered to be "coastal fringe".

Is that a new hair style the kids are getting around in these day?

Was going to get a hair cut soon. I'll ask my barber to give me  a coastal fringe.

Though, no matter what i ask him for it will look exactly the same.

I don;t think the Lions will mind the rain

They played Essendon in a deluge a few weeks back, played the conditions perfectly, surging the ball forward at every opportunity. Daniel Rich gained over 900 meters which was ridiculous given the circumstances.

Feeling uncharacteristically nervous about the game now but that could be the coffee. I should have stopped at two when my serotonin level plateaued.

Regulation 20 point win coming up.

If it’s raining I hope we just make sure it’s in our forward 50. Then set up for a quick kick out. We don’t need to win pretty. No need for a thousand handballs in the middle if it’s so wet. This is where decision making and footy smarts will come into play if conditions change

if only...

Bulldogs made it relatively easy for us last week by playing the switch and boundary line game in an effort to deny Lever and May the easy ball.

Not sure Lions will make the same mistake. If they can run it quickly and go over Lever we are vulnerable.

Player for player they have a more reliable forward line.

My guess is that it will come down to goal accuracy.

Really interesting game. Melb defensive system v's Bris attack.

Melb has only conceded more than  73 points once this season,  96 points to Adel being the outlier

Bris has kicked scores of 102, 103, 93, 95, 124, 102 and 129 the last 7 weeks.

If we can keep them below 80 points I reckon we'll win.

Very interestimg Stats Grimey (if I may)

They have some fwd firepower so lets hope we do as you say ...what we normally do and strangle their scoring.

On top of this we have not really been able to score as high as them. But we do have some significant firepower of our own in Tom and Fritta. If Sam and Kozzie and Spargo and Nibbler and Melk and Jackson can fire we could be the ones. kicking 100 plus.

I'm in lockdown (out of work). It's bucketing down rain and I have nothing to do. Wish I could fast forward 9 hrs. Too early for the Balvenie unfortunately.

Out of work (sorry to hear that) but with Balvenie on hand - now that is handling business the right way.

I cant find the stat ATM, but the Lions mostly get away to to great start in the 1st qtr. This is what the Dogs relied on last week as we had been seen as catching up during the games and our fitness outlasting oppositions, but we jumped them instead in the 1st which stuffed their tactics. So we need to stick with Brisbane in what may be an unbelievably torrid 1st quarter tonight.

McCluggage and Robinson are the 2 to stop in my opinion. They lift the others around them.

Lions have won 6 and lost 5, 1st qtrs.

Not underestimating the Lions whatsoever as they're clearly in the best three sides in the comp and have an impressive 7 game winning streak.

However since their poor loss to the Dogs in round 4 in Ballarat, they've only left the state once and that was in round 6.

I'm hoping a match interstate will upset their momentum and routine and we can benefit from it.

They've played about 23 of their last 28 games in QLD.

Yeah I’m starting to feel a little more confident today.

Besides there after the siren win against an average Collingwood, have they won outside of Qld, I don’t think so.

Also , we are not favourites any more so even more reason to be confident.

Will be tight but we can win this!

Sorry to all of you doing it tough in lockdown from this horrid disease but I guess the alternative is even worse.  let’s hope it works and ends soon!
I’m Sitting at work in my office in Sydney CBD trying to be a mature 60 year old manager - inside churning and jumping around like a kid about to go on his first date.   Biggest game I’ll have been to since our last Grand final.

It’s the Weather Channel app, but since I wrote that comment, it’s now showing cloudy until 9pm then a 40% chance of rain from 9 onwards. I give up when it comes to getting accurate weather reports that don’t change by the minute.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
