Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

No chance Tmac goes back when you have developed Petty for 5 years for this exactly reason. He didn’t go back when May was out, and he won’t now that Tommo is out. It was a stop gap today because Norf were playing tall down back.

Out: Tommo ?, Melksham (wishful thinking), Baker

In: Petty, Chandler, Sparrow or Harmes

Weideman comes in if Fritta is suspended.

To be honest, I'm a little unsure of where to go with our lineup.

I sense that a Brown/Weed combo might make us too sluggish for our game style, but I'm going to run with it anyway on the back of the Tomlinson injury.

Out: Baker, Melksham, Tomlinson

In: Weideman, Sparrow, Bedford

TMac to stay back.

I wouldn't have a clue whether this works or not. Gee, it's a tough job picking the team at the moment.

Nibbler was very poor today but has some credits in the bank.

Sounds about right but Hunt played today

Likely to be slightly wet next Saturday night

Petty for Thommo. We need TMac forward where he's been very good for us this year.

Both Melks (other than 1 kick to Brown) and Baker very ineffective. I think i'd give Baker another game to see if he can find form. It's just too hard to justify carrying Melks.

Jones needs the rest so sparrow in for him.

Petty didn’t play at any level this week. He’s the mystery injury. My guess is he won’t be ready. Tom stays back which makes me nervous but we don’t have a lot of other options.

Fritsch would get off if Chrisso has any idea. Let’s hope so.

Harmes didn’t look fully right in the VFL. He’ll need another week at least.

Melksham was Melksham but he still does some good with the bad.

Brown was ordinary. We can try other options. He has to be trained to keep his feet, contest and contribute at ground level rather than gifted games.

In: Chandler, Sparrow, Weideman
Out: Tomlinson, Baker, Brown

What's with all the "drop Baker"? I thought he was ok, ran really hard in the 2nd half, and won some individual contests.

OUT: Tomlinson, Melksham

IN:  Petty, one of Chandler/Bedford/Sparrow (whichever 0ne is the most natural forward)

I saw the Fritsch incident. A fend off elbow to the head.

If the MRO charge him he’ll be missing at least 2 you’d think as the North player was hurt.

So I expect him to miss unfortunately.

Surely it's the Tomahawk defence. Just accidental, didn't even fracture the eye socket.

For the love of God, yes. I can't fathom how he continues to get a game.

He won’t be dropped as Fritta will get a week, so need a midsize forward

He was dreadful for the first 3/4’s. Just runs to all the wrong spots around the contest. Won’t put the body on the line. Even in the last he let Cunnington walk through him.

Brayshaw was also awful on ball. We’ve all seen why he doesn’t get more centre square time. He should move back to the wing. Jones, Melk, JJ as the 3rd option.

Petty in for Tommo is a must

Conditions will determine team structure.  If the weather is ok, Weids in for Melksham. Viney to return for baker.

Petty got banged up last week in VFL?

How does that differ to Tom Hawkins collecting Maysie?

And Viney was named in the team. Doesn’t mean either were fit.

I saw Chandler as the travelling emergency, likely to be the sub if needed. I didn’t see anyone else in the rooms post game.

Ben Brown isnt getting dropped. Its his first game back into it. Was played well by McKay and delivery was bad at times.

he was bloody horrific!!! he was weak on the lead. he never got separation and he gave a costly free kick away in the last quarter which resulted in a north goal. He also dropped the easiest of marks that would've sealed the game. he is a must drop.

Is there a precedent for a fend off report?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
