Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone thinking Melksham should be dropped is clearly not considering his 9 score involvements, not to mention 3 goals.

Thats role playing perfectly

Our forward pressure was average which, along with our lack of conversion, kept the Hawks in the game. While there's no doubt he has some polish, I think we're a better team without him.

melksham's field passing was superb from my spot on the afl member's wing - that scythe of a pass from just on the d50 arc to petracca just on the f50 arc before trac bombed to jackson / plugger mac for free and play-on goal was a thing of beauty

can't see him being dropped

I don't mind Melksham. I just don't want him in the forward line. He just doesn't have the agility and/or willingness to pressure and harrass that our entire game plan is based on.

As a side note, how good was Trac's ball fake in that play - faked him out of his boots!

Our forward line needs to bring the heat with pressure this week. If Richmond backs clear it too easily we'll be cooked.

I'd try keep Tmac and Weed away from each other deep (only one) and have the smalls swarm as soon as it hits the deck.

I don't want to see Weed and Tmac trying to pressure within a close distance.

Spot on.

We only had two inside 50 tackles at half time last week.

If that is the half time stat against the tigers it is game well and truly over.

Tmac's pressure has been first class this year. But he's pretty slow and besides operates mainly up field.

Weed worries me. His pressure last year was rubbish. As was melkshams.

Melksham's pressure was just ok against the hawks. But still not where it needs to be.

Weed and Melksham in the same side is a concern in terms of forward half pressure.

In - May and Fritsch

Out - Brown and Petty

Only 2 changes of they are both fit,  I would bring in Weid for Melksham as well, but the weather forecast will suit our current fwd set up.  Weid and B.Brown I think will struggle in the wet and definitely struggle with locking it in.

Melksham on notice, has to bring pressure this week and lock it in, in the wet.

Blighty suggested on his SEN segment today you can acheive this separation of a 'two talls' forward line by playing them out of either pocket.  Leading to either side vs up the middle and getting in each others way.  Have a crumber in between those two.

My only issue with that is they'll mostly both be shooting from low percentage angles and the scoreboard likely to suffer as a result.

5:30 mark if you want to hear this from Blighty..

Tmac talked about making space for each other and forward pressure as being really important for them this year in his post match interview.

Hopefully they can execute again this week.

I think Ben Brown has one of the lowest tackle counts in the league too.

Interesting.

We didn’t recruit him to tackle.

I know that is flippant but he’s there to lead to the spots that a good forward leads to and kick goals.

I think that Goody would rest Jordan rather than drop Melksham.

Melksham would then play more midfield time.

Fritsch , Weed and May would then come in for Petty,  Brown and Jordan.

Bedford the sub.

Think, Weather or not, a tall side in the conditions or a smaller fast competing side, Tigers will play Nankervis, Lynch and Riewoldt,

any other talls ? NBI for me,   so don't bring in 4  really big blokes  its gunna be wet!

Oh I agree. It's just if we have too many "finishers" - Weed, BB, Melksham and Tmac to some extent, it leaves the tackling pressure to just a few up forward.

We've got to strike a balance and everyone has to chase and tackle.

"Only" May?   He's our best defender and a star of the competition.  Of course, he would need the medical all clear, but you wouldn't leave out one of your premier players if he was fit and available.  Definite "in" for mine, replacing Petty.

Sorry i meant May as in now

Sorry, I misunderstood your meaning there, willmoy.  Great minds agree that May should play, then!

I really don't see how he could be good to go if he has an Orbital fracture to the eye socket. Normal activities can usually be resumed after three weeks post an uncomplicated floor fracture repair.

This is one of the normal clinical factors taken into account.   So No, we don't .

Yes, why would any coach love a forward who kicks 3 goals and has a hand in a handful of others?

You can fit 23 into 22 one very unlucky player has to miss out if Fritsch plays and IMO that's Spargo.

So one less tackler? That leaves Kozzie, ANB and Viney for stints forward, with moments from Jordon. Sorry, not enough. Not many of our guys have Spargo's nous either.

What exactly has he done wrong to warrant being dropped? He averages the same amount of tackles as Kozzie (3.6) and is 6th at Melbourne for score involvements (5.6) behind Petracca, Oliver, Kozzie, McDonald and Gawn (he'd be behind Fritsch if he'd played all games too).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
