Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Amazing the way he manages to clean lose one on ones from a strong position.

Cox and the other Freo talls are handy but they aren’t that good.

If he gets consistently beat he can’t hold his spot in the side.

It’s a shame because he started well getting some touches up the ground but he just can’t do the main job of a key forward. Just isn’t a competitor

Sam Weideman has been given many chances and at best he is a fringe AFL player. Ben Brown has been in poor form recently as well. I think it's time we bring in Jacob van Rooyen. Give the young fella a go.

Pump and dump, if he can put some decent games together trade him to Collingwood.

Why would you get rid of him if he put some decent games together?  Surely that would indicate that he has turned the corner and has a future with Melbourne.

The other thing I don't understand is why people automatically think that Collingwood would be interested.

I'm doubling down on the idea that Van Rooyen should be given an opportunity ahead of Weideman in future. McDonald comes straight in next week for Weideman providing he isn't still injured but if he is, it doesn't make sense to persist with Weideman over Van Rooyen considering only one of those two players has a chance to forge a successful career in Melbourne colours. One has been given ample opportunity at the top level and has repeatedly failed to capitalise and the other has been knocking the door down in the VFL regardless of his inexperience.

JVR has played one great game against the North witches hats and otherwise been a steady role player at Casey finding his feet.

He needs to put a month of solid form together before even being considered.

Mitch Brown, a smaller forward line and some left field options are better than Weid. But they’re all better options than going with a kid at this crucial stage of finding his confidence in the VFL.

Why on earth did we offer him a 2 year deal when no one wanted him last year?

Yep 1 year would’ve been plenty, but we seem very keen to keep the same battlers on the list year after year rather than take chances with delisted or mature age guys.

And when we do pick up delisted guys it’s the most one dimensional options available with absolutely no scope for improvement to become regulars. Great.

Mitch Brown has never put a foot wrong as far as I recall and never gets in the way.

Having 3 tall forwards all who "could " be the main man and Fritta doing whatever it is he does is clumsy.

Mitch would be a much better fit

As much as I don't like writing him of, I think this is a true indication of where he might be at!

I would definitely play M Brown. Always looks like a natural key forward to me but does suffer at times from poor accuracy. But he is tall, gets to contests at least to bring the ball to ground. Not our long term future but we should be concentrating on what we need right now, whatever it will take to get the final prize again this season.

Brown at least competes in the air though and gets the ball to ground level. Weed loses contests that are counteractive to his use as a forward. He only started playing better when he moved up the ground, but then he's kicking it to contests with Spargo as the tall lol

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
