As someone who's worked with Schache at junior level I find this comment disrespectful.  You've made judgement on his attitude based on what you've probably read on bigfooty or just making it up to suit your narrative. [censored] comment really.

Schache does not have tickets on himself at all. If anything he's battled anxiety from a young age and I believe that's still the case now due to the passing off his father at a young age. His confidence is shot by the looks of it and it wouldn't surprise me if he retires at years end.

dazzle - just saw this now 2 year old post.  We have all had a lot more time to assess Josh both as an opponent in the 21 GF, throughout 22 at the Dogs and now a bit closer in 23.  Have you anything to add or change about your views on his approach to the game and the contest?  Can he really make the next step?
Thanks in anticipation.
PS I do realise that this is a Mitch Hannan thread.

Sad to read that he ruptured his Achilles on the weekend and will be out for up to 12 months. Potentially career ending.

Wanted to bring this up in the Petty injury thread as an aside but wasn't relevant at the time. Horrible luck, it's a long road back from an Achilles injury like this and could really affect long term running ability.

I'm not someone who looks out for our ex players every week to see how they're doing but this one does sadden me a bit. I do hope this isn't the last we've seen of him but if it is he's set himself up well for a career outside footy and wish him the best.

And IIIIIIIIIIIII--eeeee-IIIIIIIII-eeeee-IIIIIII will aaaaaalwayyysss looooove youuuuuuuu-ooooo-ooooo...

I hope he is able to get back on the field, but even if retirement becomes the only option, he will still be a very good looking friendly young man with a habit of self-development, a pile of money and at least one magic moment.

Mitch is a great young bloke. Loved it when the Dees gave him a chance. Showed plenty but didn’t have the final polish required.  Of course we will never forget the sealer in the 2018 finals.

Returned to the Dogs and again in the fringe. Bad luck with this injury.  Best wishes to him in his recovery.

Hasn't he also got professional qualifications as an architect (or something like that)?

I remember he had a purple patch about half way through his first season. He was kicking opportunistic goals from everywhere and I thought we had found a real player. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
Having said that, not too many AFL players can retire with an iconic elimination final sealer on their highlight real.

Poor Mitch Hannan that is a nasty one, I think that we will all remember that three bounce run down the wing and kicking the sealer against Geelong, the look on Scott’s face is priceless. Good luck Mitch whichever way your career goes you gave us all a very special moment on the way back from Hell.!!!

was probably up against it for a new deal anyway, seems to be one of those 5goal vfl players who doesnt find enough of the footy at senior level. i guess now the dogs can slide himself and bruce off the list under the guise of injury which is a bit more respectful to the career than a flat chopping. he can be proud of what hes made for himself tho

That goal will be burned in to my memory forever. The moment where I finally allowed myself to believe we might win the game and the emotional release of about 10 years that followed. Actually feel the tears again just thinking about it and I haven’t even watched the clip yet!

Have watched this goal replay many a time. Still sends shivers down my spine. Will always have a soft spot for Hannan, he seemed like a great guy too. Best of luck to him and hopefully the injury is not career ending.

Poor fella. Did you know that in some ACL surgeries, they use a dead persons achilles tendon to replace the ACL. Once healed it’s reported to be 150% stronger than it was pre-injury.

An exciting part of a new coming of age for this club.   Loved how he took the game on with his pace and dash.

He was great to watch in full flight and some of his runs down the wing will be etched in my memory forever.

Hairs standing up stuff.

Was sad to see him go and hope this doesn't end up being his swan song.

He took a nice mark and goaled in the WCE game in Perth that got us into the finals as well.

But, per others above, me and my boy were sitting on that forward flank as Mitch ran past us and dobbed that goal against Geelong. What a memory. That, and the crowd noise when Jonesy kicked the sealer. And Nev tearing Dangerfield a new one. What a game.

sorry to talk about someone else - but is Dean Kent did something similar? Is he still on a list? Thanks Deano!

@biggestred - 100% was my thoughts as well. "Being terrible for so long, is no long the present situation"..

This week's medical learnings on Demonland:

A) The Lisfranc injury was named after some French general whose solution was to amputate half the foot.

B) The Persian army invented high heels to save their cavalrymen from gruesome stirrup injuries.

C) Future MFC F/S captain George Gawn may one day take the field with a portion of my ankle.

What a website. I will endeavor to stop wearing high heels to give George the most robust tendon possible.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
