Was unaware of this. Thank you

all good

if you look at his numbers you can see the massive drop-off from pre- to post-injury - it's almost like (surprise, surprise) he can't run at the moment

it's a significant duty of care issue for mine

They played Rowan Marshall with a foot injury too

Probably getting way more than other clubs offered.

Chasing money more than an immediate tilt at the flag.

Or just simply remaining loyal to his team..

Essendon have a great list and future with Cox, Perkins, Langford and Parish providing a pretty good core.

How does their song go again Dr, ?

Also one of my targets, Jordan Clark of the Cats, looks headed home to the Dockers. Pity! I think he would have made a good winger for us.

Essendon are my most hated team but I like Zac Merrett as a player and I like that he has stuck with his mates. Will finish as a one team player and that is to be admired I reckon

Pity. He would have looked good in the red and blue

It's a shame but I don't think we had the salary cap space to seriously be in the conversation anyway. I expect we'll be fairly low key this trade period before some money frees up after T-mac and Brayshaws deal expires next year. Even then we'll have to keep some up our sleeve to satisfy Oliver on a long term deal.

See the Bombers shoot up, up....!

After seeing a few of the young boys in action this year, I can see why he has signed on. Essendon have done very well at the draft in recent times.

I had my heart set on Merrett, he would compliment our midfield perfectly. Fair play to him though for sticking it out at Essendon, although I still hope they fall in another hole soon enough.

Very happy with this

(First to admit I am an Essendon hater)  I thought the best case for them was to finish bottom 4 this year and then get a compo pick for losing Merrett. Giving them 2 top 5 picks. They talk very positively (when haven't they?)  but I think they will stay mediocre for a few more years yet. Still have some massive gaps in their list. 2 top 5 picks was their best option.

If we are looking for players now it needs to be role players, we can afford to pay more player big money.  Im thinking like a Waterman from the Eagles.  Or maybe even a Caddy/Polec who will be dirt cheap but coukd add something

Hoping the Dees interest in Brayden Maynard has substance.

Otherwise I think Ed Richards at the Bulldogs should be worth looking at.  Good skilled midfielder wingman type. Left footer.  Dogs has surplus of his type and he’d be a good addition at the Dees. Injured for first half of 2021 but should be back in next few rounds.

Caddy is god awful

I would hate him to have him on our list

I think its worth considering why he is not getting a game at the Cats aside their many 30+ age players. I think he is showy but possibly does not do the things you need to when you don’t have the ball ie: 2 way run. Someone particularly a WA side will pay overs for him  being he is in contract. If we are looking to take a punt on a player to add pace and dynamics that might reach potential but wont cost the earth I would look at Petrevski Seton. Played out of position and poorly developed at Carlton, has shown impact at times, out of contract and at 23 fits with our list profile. Also dont disagree with Ed Richards at the right price.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
