I am interested to know people's favourite dees currently and in history.

Currently for me would have to be Max Gawn, ever so consistent and rarely plays a poor game

In history would probably be Flash Davey. Reinvented himself to become a penetrative deliver I50, would be a perfect addition for our current side, its just a pity he played in a weak side

Ever: Matty Whelan. No fuss toughness, always shepherded, massively underrated IMO.

Current: Would change week to week tbh, but probably Steven May. Great kick, super reliable defender, gets around his team mates and seems to have that ruthless competitiveness to him that we've lacked for so long.

Current : Nathan Jones - maybe getting a little slower in his older age but has been the backbone of this club for a long time.

Past - Robbie Flower

Current - Clayton Oliver.
Will finish his career as the best midfielder to ever don the red and blue. He's the best ball-winning midfielder in my lifetime and still has so much potential to become an even more damaging player. If he reaches his potential then he'll be a league superstar. He's already well on his way with multiple BnFs and All Australian at such a young age!

Past - Travis Johnstone.
Smooth mover and a sublime kick, I still miss him firing lasers onto Neitz's chest. We haven't had a player of his class since. He was tagged his whole career and yet still led the league for years in effective kicks and inside 50s and score assists. He was a big game player too, was always amongst our best in finals. That 2002 semi-final against Adelaide is still the best and worst match I've attended.

Other past favorites - Allen Jakovich, Jeff Farmer, David Schwartz, Stephen Tingay, Adem Yze.

My first love was RIcky Jackson  - I was born 3 months premature - so always small growing up (don't worry, I'm a unit now) - he was small and jumped out of lockers on the Vinyl Edition of  C'Mon Demons- so there was a nice connection for me there.

I always liked Stephen Tingay (does anyone remember the time at West Coast he blind turned after almost getting chased down on the wing and the two WCE players smashed into one other), Sean Charles, Kevin Dyson and Guy Rigoni and cried when David Schwarz did his knee at Lavington.

But - YZE always did it for me

Currently... Charlie Spargo... I just like the little ones, who are quirky... I suspect he will be a big game player.

I love players that bring excitement, you never know what you're going to get hence my favourite 2 would be Farmer and Jurrah. Players who bring the crowd to their feet just be getting near to the ball. "Shivers"

Make that 70 years. I would like to include my namesake as one of the great Number Twos.

I hope you're right, because if that were to be true, that would make him better than Ronald Dale Barassi. Given you could argue that wingmen today are also considered to be midfielders, that would make him better than Flower, too, and probably a whole heap of others.

Flower is my favourite of all time. I would be surprised if anyone who saw him play doesn't claim Flower as their favourite, unless they're old enough to remember Barassi and a few other players of the late 50s and early 60s. Today's team? I have a soft spot for Salem. I like his silky style.

My heart goes out to all Demon fans who never had the pleasure of witnessing the pure footballing genius of Robert Flower.

Built like Jane, played like Tarzan.

A superstar in any era.

Current: Oliver. A class above the rest. Has the skills, the size and the potential to be the best player in the AFL in time.

All time: The incomparable, unmatchable Robbert Flower. Better by several orders of magnitude above all that have played VFL/AFL, not just Dees, in the 60+ years I have watched.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
