A real nothing article by Morris.

Only thing I took out of it was Tomlinson will become a defender which means its red flag for Oscar if that's the case.

Agree. Blind Freddy knows we need another wing player with pace and skills to compliment our strong inside contested footy bulls.

A few in the draft around 20-25 (Jack Carroll, Eddie Ford, Brayden Cook) but we’d love to add a player like Tom Phillips.

Probably look to the Swans to grab Matthew Ling for Brayden Preuss. Swans get 2 academy players in the draft to replace Ling.

Finlayson contract talks stalled with GWS. Proven key forward. Do we target him?

he's sort of as proven as TMac at first thought, broke through as a defender got swung forward for one season and kicked a bag but his output this year has been ordinary in terms of scoreboard i'd have to delve into the stats before i fully considered him. think id still prefer Pete Wright at this point

Would we take a punt on Polec if Norf would pay some of his salary?

i think he's really struggled in a bad side, but his best he's a handy player with a lot of the attributes we need

Polec has been made a scapegoat at North for whatever reason. He's not performed badly this year at all, though he's not had his best season. He was dropped after a BOG performance for some inexplicable reason, and is statistically their 6th best player this season.

On talent and output we'd obviously take him. He's better than 25-30 players on our list. The question is why is he now looking at his fourth AFL club? Are there off-field issues or attitude issues? There has to be something more to it than what we're seeing, because on output he walks into any AFL team.

For people shooting down the idea of Polec, here's a comparison of Polec vs Ed Langdon in 2020.

They're very very similar. I'd take another Ed Langdon, sorry Jared Polec, on the other wing if there's no detrimental off-field issues.

I get the sense he left Brisbane because he was young and wanted to go home, left Port because North offered him way more money than anyone else would and now he's been dropped because Rhyce Shaws Coaching career is going about as well as Neelds was at the same point and North are now openly and transparently tanking.

Players i think melbourne should target at the right price

Papley,  now that Carlton couldn't get the deal done surely,  we throw our hat in the ring this year

Williams, he might come at to great of a cost for my liking, but definitely if he likes us we should have a go

B ainsworth, gippsland boy who would like training at casey, could be a star, could  he be lured with the promise of turning him into a outside mid

Stephenson , pretty sure he got dropped v melbourne,  might want to leave the filth, could he be our other wingman ?

Gaff ,

Not sure on status on wc rioli drug saga, but he seems like a fresh start in new state could be what he needs

Also like one or two from the dogs, who could be gettable,  mc cray,  dunkley,  Daniel, lipinski, jj

Trade

T mac,  if he can't change to being a chb again

Harmes,  can't believe he got 5 year deal

Jones and jetta to retire or move to other clubs, Gold Coast would be a fit for jetts

I'm still of the belief we're lacking a little bit of on-field leadership, if we could get someone like Issac Smith or Tom Hawkins in the door to sure up the leadership side of things- ideally transitioning into coaching that'd be handy.

premiership player, still in our best 22

in terms of small pressure forwards - Jack Lonie might be gettable,

I personally also think we're not 100% set on our third key back and would be tempted to have a look at Joel Hamling

Agree but if everyone was fit I feel like they would like to give Hore or Petty a go in this role.  Also think the Smith experiment is not over - this year is hard for players to learn structures / improve when they're not in the senior team.

Another defender would be great.. but i think that pace and skills in the midfield are a far greater need.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
