Exactly. If he can't fill in for the next week or two at a passable level,  what use is he to the Club?

He will be doing Max a great service if he can stay competitive

That’s all we want. We still have midfield class out there

Can you give the stats for Jackson's time management. Just so I can cross reference it with the standard form for 1st year players, that is sent out to all AFL clubs and their supporters.

Everyone's wise in retrospect @Hogan2014.

Did you see him post after the Crows or North wins.

Posted plenty after the Lions and Port games

@dazzledavey36 and I were discussing poster like this on another thread

Hopefully he smashes a tired grundy

Yep. Nulify the opponent

So Tom Mc needs to play higher then and run and lead up at the ball, it opens the fwd line up.. Jackson has met the ball, thats why he has been good, goes to the contest, hits the pack, enables Weid to be 1 on 1 most times.

To be honest I havent tracked his form this year... but Stephenson. does. have. worryingly. blistering. pace. I expect him to get an obligatory 4 goals, unless Mason Cox get's his.

He is averaging 1.1 goals a game this year. Down from career avg 1.5.

Tactics very important for this game. Likely to be a low scoring slog in the damp.

Pies will go in favourites but it will be a toss up. About time we had some luck perhaps.

On another point, pre season I posted that 8 wins would save Goodwin. That was based on a 22 game season. With a 17 game season he's safe with 6 wins so I think we can soon put that issue aside until next year.

Given game times are about 20% shorter, he's not actually far off his average.

Like the Idea of Preuss, he is fresh, he will blow up but he can bang into an already tired Grundy, even if it is for 10-15mins a quarter, Preuss is a big unit and just needs to be physical against Grundy, then let Tmac run him off his legs.

He has been awful since the first couple of games he returned for. Consistently loses contests. Got 2 goals against Adelaide and they were both from Adelaide players hitting him up.

Will be lucky to keep his place in their team with Elliot returning.

Braydon Preuss, this is exactly what you were recruited for.
Go for it.

Seize The Day

I hope we are all back here post game questioning why he hasn't been played before now, as we did with Weid.

C'mon Preuss!

I reckon they'll pull Grundy out and itll be Cameron V Pruess.

they'd be naive to go in with too many sore/underdone players.  Grundy won't like the thought of a desperate Pruess finally getting a run after 12 months barrelling into him.

I doubt Preuss would hold too many fears for Grundy. He may be rested but that’s because there’s barely a soft week for any reason, not because of Preuss in particular.

That said, I’m happy to see the big fella get another crack at it.

Well, if Grundy plays, I look forward to watching how our systems operate with the non dominant ruckman.

Just on the midfield... Pendlebury and Petracca - I reckon if you do a drinking game on basketball references by the commentary team - you'll be passed out by half way through the 2nd.

If it's going to be damp, Jetta would be a reasonable inclusion. Lower centre of gravity, and good one on one.

C'mon Preuss!

He had a fairly serious injury so that may well be the reason.
it’s irrelevent now. He has to perform for the next 2-4 weeks

Max needs to rehab for more than 1 week

Wouldn't it be great to have two Jacksons with those abilities. Put one at CHB and one on the ball.....

There are plenty of people that vent relentlessly on the forum after losses, discussing our problems and how they can be fixed.

Followed by a more relieving week of infrequent posting after a win, as they feel happy enough to do non demon related stuff. All is right with the world... until it isn't again another week or two later. Count me in as one of these posters.

I wonder about the traffic comparison of a loss compared w a win. Id presume it doubles or increases significantly.  @Demonland ?

I was wondering about this the other day too.  I thought traffic would be much higher after a win, but reading this maybe I'm wrong!

relieved that we're going with an actual ruckman rather than cobbling something together

now expecting changes to be...

IN: preuss, lockhart, viney
OUT: jackson, rivers, sparrow

forgot the stand-in skip!

Didn’t think Pendles would play. He and Sidebottom have to be stopped, as they are the main goal assist players  for the Pies.

It is good to see Preuss come in  certainly  big  enough to hold his own against Grundy and anyone else they have to combat him.

Although not playing a game this year he is particularly a fit person and now he has the chance to showcase some of his rucking skills against Grundy who is not at his best.

At 206 cm  he will have his fair share of touches to our inform mids.  Have a great game Preussy.  Lets get the job done.

Nothing against Pendlebury personally but if they want to play with fire I hope he breaks down, they play one down, lose the game and he is out for the season.

As I said, I'll believe it when I see him at the bounce.

Long time since I played footy but will never forget the season when I suffered a quad injury. It was painful trying to kick the ball and I ended up missing four matches. When I came back, I felt a niggle as I ran onto the ground after half time and when I got a kick, the same pain was there but worse. Missed the finals and was still having pain in the quad area well into summer.

Advice to Pendlebury: give it a rest for another week.

Hopefully Preuss eats some people. FC PREUSS LIVES ON

Hoping he has worked on his marking though, had some clangers last year.

If Preussy kicks a couple, gets 11 touches and 13 hit outs (as 2nd ruck) as he did in his first game last year he will be well on his way to earning his spot.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
