Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jackson's contentious free kick in front of goal....ruck block.......we know how many times Max was penalised for the same thing.....just extending his arm at centre bounces,

You can't fend off with a stiff arm at a ruck contest. We learned the hard way with Max. Staggering the 'experts' don't know what the rule is

Really liked Sam's game.  His confidence is growing by the week.  He is using his body more in contests, making good positions and loved the confident snap at goal.

He may have some up and down games but he has only played 36!

And I like the strut he is showing.

I understand this point but I think it's a little unfair to suggest he can play all his footy in the middle.

Who's minutes are you shaving to get him in there? Clarry, Trac or Viney?

Take Max out, put him in the forward or back half and leave them all in there....

ANB the annual 'make an example of' suspension now that the rich clubs players have got off on technicalities.

In all fairness.
That tackle was the mixed martial art of Judo and Jiu jitsu.
Was surprised he didn't finish with a rear naked choke.

And he's a real leader. The times he took Lockhart under his wing last night and looked out for him which was something special. We got exactly what we needed. A backline leader and gun full back.

Loved seeing him give it to Crocker, who was trying to give it to Lockhart. It's something that unfortunately is pretty rare at our club. We don't even really stick up for our captain when he's being smacked.

With the sling tackle the AFL want it both ways.

on one hand, this season (and last night) a player can be fairly tackled spun 360 degrees without disposing of it and NOT called for holding the ball. But the tackler is now expected to manage the safety of the player they tackle while they contort to either dispose to advantage, look like trying (when they’re not) or simply deal with their momentum. It’s become unrealistic for the tackler.

example with the Nibbler sling, tackles him properly through 180’, then Crow player tried to dispose (to kick) throwing his body into the sling and exposing his head to a concussion... yet the tackler is held responsible.

In my opinion, if the AFL wants to reduce slings, they should reduce the time a tacked player has before the umpire decides a free or ball up.

Had no idea who Crocker was till last night.

He is now up there with my most hated players from other clubs.  Ruffs up Lockhart who is 11cm and 7kg smaller(who to his credit held his own), crunched May in the head, pushed Hibberd in the back then turned, kicked a goal and pranced around as if they had just won the premiership.

Faux tough guy.  Approaching thug status.

It makes a difference the next day after your team has won. The thing I liked after our win was on the final siren seeing the smile back on Goody's face.

Look we only beat the bottom team but it was a good last quarter.

Jackson was great last night and viney from start to finish was just awesome.

I also thought May was really good as well.

As I don’t have Foxtel and my normal source is not allowed I have not seen a frame of the game. But from what I have read and I know it was only the Crows ( my god I am happy they are in the crap) but it is great to see we finally had a player last night in Oliver who dragged us along and then when the game was to be won in the last quarter he blew the crows out of the water. How long has it been since an individual player did that for the Dees ?

Probably the most frustrating and aggravating 50 point win I've ever watched. Adelaide are a truly horrible football team right now, they just cannot kick a score. Main Dees takeaways for me:

-Steven May another fantastic game. Made Tex look like a local reserves player.

-Clayton Oliver escaping the packs and thinking a little more with the ball was fantastic.

-Brayshaw should only ever play on ball. This makes it hard to balance the midfield but that's what the coaches are paid the big bucks for.

-Jackson was clearly worrying ROB with his jumping ability. Good positioning up forward too.

-Neither Bennell or ANB impacted up forward. Small forward positions are still well up for grabs.

Re: Brayshaw in the middle, absolutely. I reckon Harmes is struggling a bit - can we put him back to a full-time tagger? Rotate him through the bench more? And keep Brayshaw, Oliver, Viney, Sparrow on the ball for the longest periods? Hmm...

I must admit I did feel a little bit empty immediately after this performance given the opposition, but I am feeling more optimistic today.

Adelaide were 0-9 and I think they brought their best effort, intensity and performance (for the first three quarters at least) of the season so far. Our skills were off but I think we need to give Adelaide some credit here, they brought the heat and made it hard for us to execute.

Our experience and talent rose above in the last although I did expect more from the likes of Bennell/ANB. Also giving Gus extended minutes in the middle may have lifted his confidence, Goodwin is a genius.

*Reilly O'Brien is a very underrated ruckman.

Great win. Team play was evident. As the match progressed, our team observed the road to success within it - all about looking for each other and taking the opportunity to exploit the positioning upfield. Forwards could still have been a little more mobile into space but it was a huge improvement from previously. Goodwin, I consider, had little to do with the ideas mindset employed; this was the result of player determination across the game, led by Clarrie and Viney, early and (when he got onto the field) Gus with his pick-ups and deliveries.

AVB is our Rock of Gibraltar - taking hits from behind without umpire observations. Jackson was very impressive and is coming along very nicely - he will get a couple of bags scored at the deep forward line in the near future, and he looks highly capable of good team play. Must say, Melk put in a good one - leading to space and in recoveries. Fritta was a little lost out there, though; he did not move as frequently as he should - finding space for the quick grab He held a few nice ones despite the battery of blows he received from Crows backmen, again, not seen by the umpires. It seems as though the umpires give the Crows (as well) a licence to play dirty, cheap and illegally when the chips are down - for the first three quarters, the umps kept the Crows in the game, as well. Gawn was hammered behind his back and received several knee-delivered (at full pace) body kicks once again. One of these was directed from behind at this bandaged knee/leg with the intent, obviously, to maim. Umpires did not see or react to these attacks, either. It is as if Clarrie and Gawn - predominantly - are such good footballers that it is OK to trash them both at any opportunity without penalty. Oversight and disregard are now standard fare from the whistling snot goblins, where the MFC is concerned.

Salem passed well with good heads-up resolve. May was brilliant and of course, dominant. Walker swung a few until May's temperance warning was issued in the second quarter and from that moment on, it was as if Walker was no longer on the ground. Trac had a quieter game but his influence was ever-present. Viney was superb across the game - a powerhouse driver and scrounger. His teamwork was highly creditable, looking and finding outlets across the field (under these influences, he is able to play an unmatchable style of footy for the benefit of the whole team).

Played great golf this morning, in the calming knowledge that we can play footy if our whole team acts as a team. A great win. We invented our own way to win the footy, propel the footy forward and to find targets. Goodwin must be thankful that a few heads got together to put up such a stern exhibition of thinking footballing. The whole side responded.

The morning   after,     the night before,   in this case blissfull,   the coach still has a long way to go to become Good, one win does not make a genius,   but much better than losing and at least he did show emotion, invested in the club, supporters and players not sure.

It might be the back pocket tapping him to react.       we shall see     Norf then the Pies, it does not stop.

As I said earlier I have seen nothing of the game however no matter the opponent in this seasons shortened game a 10 goal win is a good result. And beating the team I hate the most just means an all round good Thursday.

Talking about the commentary, give me Mark Howard or Huddo anyday. Ed and Derm should not be on together because they don't focus on the game and rather act as if they are sitting round a table talking about the past.

Dwayne is just annoying. Kingy is ok but I wonder why he never went into coaching. The way he analyses the game makes him sound like a coach.

also well done on Goody calling out the off the ball treatment Maxy gets off the ball. I know after his presser the fox footy team didn't agree with goody doing that but he is obviously had enough of the treatment.

Great win, season on the line going into Q4. Regardless of opposition the pressure was very real and intense. We responded.

We were sloppy, terrible at times. To coin a soccer term, our first touch is NQR at the moment. Both teams had a massive crack. Our effort was outstanding. Trying too hard at times?

May and Oliver outstanding

Jackson looks the goods

Fitness showed in the last, in Burgess we trust.

ANB not AFL standard

Lockhart/Sparrow/Langdon. I'm not sure.

Jones, I love the man but he is looking a liability. Watch the replay and see the boys after the song. He wanted no part of it.

The Brayshaw situation is intriguing, was he tagging Crouch in the 1st half? And in previous games? I think he may be playing a role and working on his defensive game.

He did...he was an assistance to Terry Wallace from 2005.

Chose not to participate in the coaches solarium program, so didn’t last long.

He needs to spend significant time forward, with occasional midfield bursts.

Midfield bursts for Viney, into the forward line for a rove around and a few shots. You've got this right, AF. There is more to his game than what we have seen this year (and that has been commendable).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
