Not the kids fault but why bring him in to play midfield when gus and harmes are already starving for them and playing out of position

Agree to an extent. but we never should have drafted him. But it is his fault when he handballs backwards 20 meters out from goal for no reason and misses the target, which he has done multiple times in the game.

Abysmal.

Absolutely abysmal.

It's the Richmond game, and everything that is wrong with our club, on repeat.

The turnovers are just soul destroying. Sparrow, Harmes, Salem, almost every single one of their touches is missing its target. We cannot compete with anyone, let alone Port, if we keep turning it over.

The forward line pressure is non-existent.

The midfield got belted on the outside in the first quarter and then got beaten on the inside in the second quarter (-4 CPs that quarter).

The backline is trying to hold them out but they are getting so many looks at inside 50s under no pressure that it's impossible to defend.

We will lose this by at least 10 goals if we don't seriously lift in the middle and start hitting some [censored] targets.

This Club just feeds us BS

Most overrated bunch of peanuts on our list.

I’d remove Viney from that list the others I totally agree with.

Anyone else absolutely despising the Port supporters in the crowd booing everything?

Imagine having a team so ripping you could boo everything with such shameless disregard

Didn't want Lyon for a coach, but would certainly take him now. Someones got to teach these players how to play.

Nathan Jones encapsulates our club. Historic losers going to water under pressure . . . And accepting it. He can't play again. We have to move on.

We come off a couple of wins, looking sharp and confident. AvB breaks a cheek and of all the players to bring in facing the top 2 teams back to back.

I predicted a 5 goal win. Nek minnit. Down by 5 goals at halftime.

God what an embarrassing half of football.

Im trying to think its the quick turnaround but its not. Its just us.

Never should have picked Sparrow, should have always been Jordon.

I'll add Brayshaw then.

Couldn’t agree more GCDee.

Get us out of this zone [censored] which is clearly not working and go man on man.

Well said. What they dish up on and off the field is pure garbage and an absolute insult to fans and members. The club is a joke and goodwin has to go.

Nope, we are not allowed to criticise Oliver. His kicking has been excellent and his hot potato handballs to the disadvantage of his team mates don't matter, cause it's still a stat and that's all that matters.

I see Josh Mahoney in the coaches box and I wonder how he can keep his job. We are miles off being a professional team and he and Goodwin have had plenty of time to make us competitive.

The list is not this bad. Something stinks.

We have been absolutely shocking, but the umpires have shown us zero love. Tackles unrewarded, holding the man ignored, clear sliding in on legs given as high tackle, soft 50 penalty gifting them a goal (while Gawns gets ignored). I have to get that frustration out of the way.

But we look flat as a tack, no one moving, when we get the ball in space we are slow to move it on. Our kicking efficiency must be about 30%, absolutely pathetic. Our overall disposal efficiency must be barely 50%, basic handballs are being missed, players slipping over. I just can't believe how bad we are playing.

Lions was the game we needed to win to stay in the hunt, facing Port off a short break seems like too much.

That’s terrifying. 9 years, 2 rebuilds and 3 coaches later and we’re still a bottom team getting spanked. Us Melbourne supporters must be the most loyal people on earth to put up with this much disappointment.

Lyon going off his nut on the half time Fox Footy show.

Good on him.

Whatever...maybe he could get someone like Neeld to come and help us out...

And on Thursday night too with a captive audience.

Only Melbourne would dish up this crap with everyone watching.

I will never bemoan the fact we are never on FTA again. tonight is the exact reason why we are not on FTA. Im going to watch house hunters international instead.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
