Can't specifically say to much but my information comes from someone employed by the club. I don't post everything i'm told, but this will be announced in due course so i'm coming forth now.

Bloody great news!

Would have thought the B&F would have been the perfect time to announce that he had signed on.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I can't remember a single time a contract announcement has been done during the BnF. Doesn't seem like the appropriate forum to me, particularly with some players already shown the door and others most likely knowing they're up for trade. To me it doesn't seem very tactful.

They never do that as they like to keep things separate. If he had signed though I'm sure we'd be hearing something about it very shortly.

He doesn’t come across as the sort of person that would take the limelight at such an event

Yeah fair point.

Its actually laughable he finished ahead of Ed Langdon and as high as 3rd.

Langdon had a much more productive and team orientated year then Viney.

You don't know his instructions. What you, or any of us actually see is not the whole story, not by a long way.

Well said Old Dee, hopefully the Covid crisis has given us all a reality check on what is important in life.

It aint money or material possessions that's for sure

Thanks for sharing.

Great news

In line with term I heard rumoured

Flip side of those rumours was who was a likely exit from the midfield group. Will have to chase some more mail and revert

I challenge anyone who’s had babies only a few months old to move them with a new mum to another state with no family support, the stresses would be enormous as Jack alluded they almost come back, not making excuses as many other afl clubs had similar challenges but they would all vary not knowing health & state of both baby, mum & dad

Same. I really liked the look of the Roti Maker for $29.95. A late 2nd/3rd rounder should get it done, I reckon.

Yes agree AF

Viney is all Melb and as with all players is a "work in progress".

The Coaches  must be more Ruthless and train him on kicking Right Foot and the first option.

His disposal improved since earlier in the season and ALL Demons MUST develop this aspect of their game for us to go to the next level or two.

Well done Jack all The best with your
little one during the off season.

Bring on 2021

Oh I really hope its true he's signed on. Such an important player. I was starting to sweat on him leaving.

Came in this year sans captain role but:

- Noticebly fitter. Ran out games much better and seems injury free finally.

- As mentioned improved disposal. Less rushed more considered.

I want this guy in the centre in the heat of a final next year. He and Max are our heart and soul.

@Dannyz could you please remember to put the hyphen in...it's grammatically correct and VERY MFC.

I'm happy to bundle up the ice cream maker my wife bought six years ago (which has yet to be used), the shorts she bought me yesterday and a half eaten jar of Spreewalder pickled gherkins.

I would never put you, or many others, in the "vehemently opposed to everything Jack Viney does" category Redleg. I was aiming my comments at those who show total disrespect to, and constant underrating of Jack's role and worth to the team.

Fair enough.

If we have signed him for 4 or 5 years I believe this will come back to bite big time! As iterated limited player who won't improve. Will keep making the same errors time and time again. Before anyone wants to criticise then this is just my opinion.

He's resigned for 4 years to be Nick Kyrgios' personal trainer mate.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
