GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong

One thing that will really annoy today, if Hibberd keeps kicking his long bombs to no one that seem to hang in the air forever, allowing the defenders to zone off.  Has he lowered his eyes ever ?

We’re underdone with five players coming in with two of them playing for the first time in over a year. Essendon showed how    shaky they were after a 15 day break and for their accuracy kept them in the game. Can we really expect Melbourne to kick straight when our key forward has kicked 1.6 for the season?

I’ll be watching over breakfast and coffee.

Dees to win by 4 goals.

My concerns are 1. No big CHF 2. No tall defender for Ratugolea.

I’m not a huge fan of the Weed but for today’s game, his name should have been pencilled in at CHF. Hibberd should have been left out.

Joel Smith should perhaps go to Ratugolea. A lot shorter, but his athleticism and leap would be beneficial against the big guy.

I think our biggest danger will be lack of intensity out of the blocks.

E.g. a repeat of the West coast game where we are trouserless by quarter time.

It’s a bizarre season and I reckon points on the board early is going to be more important than ever.
 And ..... as one A Clarkson said , “ Geelong aren’t that good “ !!!!!!

Looking at some results   this week and last,  by less than a goal either way and probably a draw    Go Dees

As is almost always the case it'll be about which Melbourne decides to turn up. Not the opposition. We're the AFL version of the little girl with a little curl.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I hope we deploy melk as a lock down forward again, I reckon one of their big strengths has been stewards intercepting or at a minimum interrupting forward movement. I'd get melk to take him deep and away from contests as much as possible, without Taylor I think this is an area we could exploit

Hoping the players have re-watched 'To Hell And Back' for a reminder of all the things they said and promised.

Heard some ‘experts’ in previews of our game say our weekend off last week is like a bye. They reeled off a stat of us having a 4-6 record after a bye since 2011. Irrelevant imo...last week was no bye, usually the boys have a few days off.

Have absolutely no idea how it will turn out today, with pretty much a full list available the pressure will be on for some to lift their game.

What a nice day to be at the G.

If the team want supporters to believe in them, they have to start beating decent teams regularly.

We have had enough "learnings"

We have had enough opportunities to "Bounce back"

We have no excuses left.

Today, in our financial position, this is a must-win. They want donations, the fans want victories..

Still, this is Melbourne, so i dont see us getting the choccies.

Ive taken the draw at 51/1

Forward line not good enough. Lose by about 5 goals. Then again the cats are not very good either.

I think we’ll be okay today. Pretty much every expert I’ve read of or listened to has tipped Geelong but I reckon we’ll carve them up in the guts and be too strong around the ball.
I expect Gawn to be BOG today and be super solid floating back at times and palming it beautifully to the mids at stoppage.
We must win today if we think we’re a finals side.
A loss and the media will ****kick the hell out of us.

Ratu won't last a whole game, Vanders can deal with him.

Ken Oath! It's on for us ... I see a leading, three-pronged deep forward line with lethal crumbers and trailing Geelong players.

Our exposed form is both limited and erratic this season. Play like we started vs Blues and the Cats are cactus... play like we did in the second half and we’re in big trouble.
ive a good feeling about today and indeed this season. It’s time this team delivers on their promise and potential, and I believe they will.

Go Demons!!

I doubt that they'd be playing VDB down in the backs... with our small forward line, he's need in the forward half for his pressure and ability to crash packs.
