Would happily trade him if it meant we got Gunston in.

Make no mistake, it could happen. #ETdoesitagain #Tradebroken

Whilst I don't want Frost to go, I would be interested to see what could come back the other way...

If he is being shopped around, or if he is exploring his options ( I don't think there is much of a difference either way), i would hope we are looking at a ready-made player as his replacement. If we get something second round in a trade thats another mid-to-high twenties pick for a raw 18 year-old, or a proven player in their mid-late 20's. Speculate on the draft, or trade for a known quantity to fill a need immediately.

I would like Frosty to stay, and think he is under-rated on 'Land, but if he does decide to go, im not at all excited about the prospect of a kid in the mid-to-late second draft round being his replacement.

Strangely (or not) im suddenly much more interested in the remainder of our year than i have been at any time since the bye.

Groundhog day..................... What a great movie.

P.S. is it just me, or is it nice to see the company man @Wiseblood so active recently?     :)

P.P.S. @Ethan Tremblay thinks everyones nickname is "Basil", so just put him on ignore until after the trade period.

Interesting.

After the season he had, how would we feel about potentially losing him to another club?  At the end of last year it might not have mattered too much, but he certainly improving in 2019.

This is WHY this club is a Basket Case. We have a player who will finish top 6 in our B & F, we haggle over a few bucks, He has improved out of site YET WE KEEP DUDS like Oscar, ANB, Spargo, JKH, Stretch and others

FMD If he goes to hawks two things will happen

1 I'll believe our List management team has NO idea and that might nearly be it for me I'll be Ropeable!!

2 Watch Clarko make him into an All Australian.

JUST GIVE HIM A GOOD DEAL MFC another 100 K won't break the bank. He had a very good year!

Here's an idea Put Spargo on Billy Stretch's Shoulders, GAFFER tape both of them together, Put a number 17 Jumper over both and let them play in Frosties Role!!

I will tell you how I would feel, furious.

If they want him ask for Mitch Lewis.

The club is far from a basket case.  Frost has had a great year but let’s be honest he has a heap of deficiencies .

We have Lever, May, potentially Tomlinson coming in and O Mac has a back up.

If he has currency and we can fill the need for a forward or outside speed than it’s a great decision.

Depends in the coin he wants and the coin we have to spend.  We need to pay overs to get players like May and Lever into our club, you then add the players we are rumoured to be chasing this year, plus the guys we need to sign next year.  The blokes you mention are really on spare change, you need players like that to keep under the salary cap.  Frost would be looking for a chip up after the season he had, we might just not have the room to keep him.

If it turns out that Frost goes then Tomlinson becomes much more valuable to us, and he also would be absolutely sure of having a role.

If the end result is a simple switcheroo with the bonus of getting trade value from the Hawks, I'm quite happy with the prospect.

Clarko would turn Frosty into an All Australian defender. Frosty is quick, a hard at it competitor, can play on small or tall, and should be a required defender even with Lever and May in the side. Letting him go would be madness.

We paid 3 first rounders for Lever and May. In 2019 Frost outperformed both of them. He also got on the park.

It’d be a blow to lose him for two key reasons:

1 - He’s currently our best lock down tall. He’s also the only one who can get on the park, so he wins by default

2 - He has pace, which is a key thing we lack

He’s by no means a perfect footballer or superstar, but he plays a role and is durable. That’s more than can be said for the majority of our players at this point.

Is Gunston or O’Brien a possibility if Frosty goes?

The Hawks rarely trade away a loss 39.

Whatever they are offering it will more than likely end up being a less than satisfactory tainted morsel past it's use by or a known (but unbeknown to the MFC)  NQR option.

It won't we Gunston and i doubt they will compensate effectively with picks either.

Zero sum loss all the way.  Just get him signed and locked away on decent but but not rediculous coin on say a 2 plus 1 (trigger).

I’d be devastated to lose Frost - he was really coming into himself by the end of the year - getting an idea of how to play as a running back man. He has his deficiencies and brain fades occasionally, but his upside is so much greater - he has a bit of X factor about him.

Exactly. Even just his pace is enough especially at Melbourne. Currently he is probably the best defender at the club so to lose him would be bad.

A fan favorite in a team lacking characters to make it worth a watch. His value may have risen in 2019, sure, but why have we waited until Sept to try and lock his signature in. Demonlanders have seen his worth for quite a while now. Maybe not so the Club. Better player than Lever because he takes the no1 or 2 defender that Lever cannot.

Depth is important but we have to operate from a position of belief that Steve May will get a good run at it next year and be an absolute lock at FB for at least 18 games. It's also not completely unreasonable to imagine Oscar McDonald with a preseason and consistent VFL form being a decent back up full back if needed short term.

Lever should also get back to his best as an interceptor. Hore is depth for that role.

But in terms of playing the 2nd key spot it's either backing in Petty, turning Tomlinson in to a key back, a miraculous Oscar recovery in to a reliable best 22 player or draft/trade. Similar with the decline of Hibberd and Jetta's injury troubles we don't have great options for back pockets. Maybe Joel Smith back to the backline or using Harmes, it's pretty skinny there.

Usually I'd be in favour of trading a limited player whilst they have value and filling other holes but I just look at the way Frost can pair with May and fill 2 different spots as really valuable.

O’Brien’s nickname at the Hawks is Basil. Interesting.

Frost is a liability, as long as he is in best 22 we aren't going anywhere. Not to say he isn't in our best 22 however, just that if he is we wont be challenging for a flag.

I am so puzzled on this.

We are cool on keeping him but Players X Y Z and so on are required. The ANB get rewarded for mediocre performance and potential, others who do not put in enough effort stay on the list and then Frosty who has a 100 per cent crack gets no surety  No way to build a list.. My suspicion is he caught the Hawks eye in the finals last year.

The article says his manager believes from MFC that he is required.

Well, well well.

Clarkson sells us treacle in Lewis.

Then, the best coach in the business wants Frost.

Do the frigging maths MFC.  Getting rid of Watts was supposed to be our panacea.  Now Frost.

Clarko playing us easily.

I think I’m over this basket-case of a club.  Divested.  The simpletons deserve it.  All of it.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
