Wasnt a snipe, it was what happened.

Hmm, I can see how it could have just been one of those little toung-in-cheek moments. Yep, ok, I'll put it out for anyone to see - I overreacted. If there was ever a moment to have a laugh about Oscar's disposal, just after a last gasp win is it.

Agreed. Jeffry didn’t have big stats, but he created a load of opportunities and was directly responsible for 4 of our goals from his pressure. People can continue to hate him on, and he’s not perfect (see shot at goal instead of passing to TMac), but he’s comfortably the best small forward on our list and one of the Vestberg in the league when he’s in form. His crumbing and pressure today were exactly what we’ve been missing up forward all year.

Don't think anyone hates him but he's been out of form for a long time. Probably his best game for 12 months.

14 possessions.  Nice game loser!

Is it safe for me to come back from Ireland yet ???

Pity the siren didn't go a few seconds later. Looked like Hunt had kicked the ball past the last defender and may have run onto it into goal.

Nope, there was one more who may have gathered with a bit of time. Hunt was closing fast though

I don't know. This helter skelter game style is not going to bring us sustained success,

Hawks mate trash talking me all week and all game has gone eerily quiet. Feels good.

Much stronger performance in many ways. Their accuracy in the second half is the only reason they stayed in it (plus some bad 50m penalties - the second one to Harmes shouldn't have been paid IMO but if that was 50 then they missed one on ANB late in the third, plus there were two in the fourth that should have been paid to us).

We've definitely relaxed the forward press and we're better for it. We kept defenders deeper, playing a sweeper like Richmond did last week. We also kept forwards deeper in our forward line (@Clint Bizkit would have liked that I reckon) and had someone to aim at.

As a result, we defended the ground so much better. We weren't getting cut up on the switch and we didn't have as many bursts out the back of our zone.

Harmes was incredible, the two 50s notwithstanding. O'Meara was dominant early but he took him out of the game, got 31 of his own and kicked an important goal. Gawn played much better (despite a few bad errors), Oliver's defensive running was notable, and TMac worked his way into a bit of form. Hore does so much right, he just needs to improve his kicking. Lockhart has talent too - a really good runner and not as fumbly as previously.

Still plenty to work on but we were clearly the better side after half time and hopefully can develop some confidence from this.

Don't want to be a wowser... but..

The predictability of the last 50 seconds was a concern. Melksham was never going to make the distance and the Hawks won and moved to ball very quickly, we were powerless to stop it until the long ball inside 50

I liked the argy bargy between Hunt and Sicily late in the 3rd.  There were a couple of other skirmishes around the ground.  They all seemed to really fire up the team because they ran faster and were desperate afterwards

After round 2 Goodwin said he wants the team 'to play grumpy'.  I guess he meant 'unsociable football'.  They did today and it was great to see a bit of aggro back in the team.

By the way, Goodwin looked quite emotional after the siren.  Big hug for Macca was good to see.

now is not the time to be a wowser - its time to enjoy the win. Be a wowser tomorrow

Absolutely, this is something we've desperately missed all year. I want us to be mean, firey, scary sometimes. We got to see some of that aggro today. Hopefully we see it more! We need to be feared, as well as improve our skills and execute the basics.

TMac looked like he found a little relief today. He got involved, and it clearly meant a lot to him and Goody. Great to see.

I only woke up to see the last 10min, my dreams were very bizarre before I did wake. It included us being up by 100+ vs Carlton and only just winning, losing to hawks by 100+, and our players turning up to the ground to find out we were playing all the best players in the league.

Always funny when I’m asleep and I know footy is on!

Anyway what I saw was madness but I also saw a lot more of our 2018 selves than I have for the first 6 rounds. High pressure, quick hands, and hardness at stoppages. Skills definitely still letting us down, and forward line didn’t appear to be clicking with the midfield but there’s hope.

Looking forward to watching the replay, looks like the third quarter was our time to shine.

Oh and I really like Hunt forward.

Was that @Drunkn167in the middle with Declan during the song?  Well done drunkn - not often a non-player gets in the middle.

Dec did a few good things and that center clearance in the last few minutes was brilliant.

Proud day for the Keilty family.  Rapt for you all.

Was a very poor kick from Melksham, wasn’t aiming at anybody and frankly putting it in a super dangerous spot. Would’ve preferred him to either go for goal or at least put it deep where it could be smashed out for a throw in.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
