Dees by 100.

Weideman to kick 10.

Oliver 57 contested possessions.

Nibbler zero fumbles.

I believe.

Weideman kicking 10 and Oliver collecting 57 contested possies is still astonishingly more believable than ANB having a fumble-less game.

Port will start well but by about 1/2 way through 3 term we should be able to roll them convincingly.

I wish melbourne was doing something for the loss of colin sylvia. not sure whether we'll be wearing arm bands or not but things have been a little too quiet for my liking.

Yes, I like it.

It can be forgotten in the pre-season, those we have lost... and those who were taken, so early.

Vale`...    Ian Thorogood  &  'Col'...   Sylvia.

He looked lethal in that exhausting workout. He must have bent over at least 4 times to pick up the ball off the ground. Could he be put through any more thorough physical test of his injured cheekbone? Surely not.

My guess is he will miss and they are trying to throw us off the track with selection.

Waste of time if they do that Redleg. Preuss is out injured, Bradtke is nowhere near ready. Either way we just have Max.

Hope they do play those mind games, that way they don't concentrate on the more important things.

A noted innovator, Hinkley takes the concept of chaos ball to a whole new level.

All up, the Power will have 11 changes to the team that lost to Essendon in round 23 last year. "It makes it hard for Melbourne to predict what we're going to do, because we don't know what we're going to do."

Dear Demonland,

Can you please post the link to the destination article (presumably somewhere on the AFL web site) so we don't have to go to the Evil Place?

Thank you in advance,

4 debutants!!! We will win by 80

Butters is a bloody good player. he'd slot straight into our team.

Vandenberg is a worry for me. Didn't make the family day last week and was a no show on Monday. Hope his foot hasn't flared up.

The latest injury list says he's available, but no idea how old it is.

He copped a rough time living in Southpark

Probably one of the most anticipated training threads coming up tomorrow. Which ‘landers are reporting for duty?

MFCSS in me fears the worst then a nail biting win at Cattery

Sounds like both of us will be fielding underdone sides and/or will be missing key players.

It might only be Round 1 but this is a game we just cannot afford to lose.

You can worry.

Melbourne Football Club Supporter Syndrome is the constant negativity of some supporters due to years of failures.

Thanks.  I've suffered from that too, but hope to escape its clutches this year.

Unfortunately it’s like herpes FD, you’re stuck with it for life

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
