With tonight’s 2018 Keith “Bluey” Truscott Medal Presentation, we will be marking the end of the football season - one of our club’s best in many years.

And this is the perfect time for us to once again thank all those who have contributed to Demonland during the past season as well as all those who post here or simply visit and read without posting.

We value your contributions and ongoing support - especially to Nasher who keeps us going on the technical side, to our moderators whose task is often thankless - a task that is never easy.

Special thanks to our regular contributors, Whispering Jack, George on The Outer, The Oracle, JVM, KC from Casey, Grapeviney and Supermercado (my podcast co-presenters) and all others who have provided us with material and articles.

Let's hope that 2019 will finally be the year that we break through and experience a Grand Final and Premiership flag.

We also look forward to the another year of women's competition and hope a finals appearance there will be a prelude for later in the year.

As always, we are on the look out for new contributors who have something to say about the mighty Demons. If you have the talent or simply want something to say about the club in article form, please contact me via PM.

Cheers, thanks again and keep your eye on the red and the blue.

Goodbye 2018. It was a fun ride. Bring on 2019.

I'm sure I speak for many when I say the pleasure is all ours Andy and crew.  Demonland is an outstanding forum and getting better all the time.  That takes a huge amount of time and effort, and I can assure you that it is greatly appreciated!  Speaking personally as an interstate member, I can honestly say that Demonland is my football lifeline.  I don't know where I'd be without it.

You guys do an amazing job for us fellow Dee's members/ supporters.

A very big thank you to those on Demonland?

Big thanks to the Demonland crew.

The platform you put up for us is invaluable.

Some really good solid info & opinions, some not so good and still plenty of room for a good old argument.

It's been a great season so lets all look forward to even better ahead.

Thanks Demonland

Thank you to Andy and crew for such a great website, and for season 2018. Also thank you to all the great contributors during the season. I am already looking forward to season 2019 where I hope that we end our premiership drought.

Thank you Andy and everyone involved. It's not an easy job but you all do it so well. It's been great to be back on DL on a regular basis and have something to get excited about.

Bring on 2019!

Well done crew.

Bigger and better in '19!

Well done crew, you deserve recognition and thanks for all your work.

You go about your job modestly and deal with the opinions of posters sensibly and without suppression.

Yep - well done and kudos to all with Demonland responsibilities. My morning routine of reading the  online news, Demonland then the AFL website gets me on my way to a rather boring job.

Yep thanks to all the crew. Demonland is a source of many things and football too

Cheers Guyz!

Big thanks to the Mods for the selfless work, and the nerds who keep the whole thing running.

Oh, and the dude who owns the site. Legend.

Fantastic site. I am pleased to recommend it to any supporters I meet as it is not only a great source of information but contains some of the best humour you will find anywhere.

Professionally and tirelessly run.

I have found it the most reliable system I have ever used. It has been a companion and vital information provider when I have been in remote and overseas locations.

When I have attended marches or been able to get a full media cover of the Demons I often struggle to keep up with Demonland but always find it worthwhile. Don't have to contribute often as it is such a transparent array of emotions.

Keep up the great work.  Happy to maintain membership of the most cost effective communication I have seen.

Thank you to Demonland and all the others who make this site a pleasure to interact with. Top stuff!

Thanks to Andy and the rest of the Demonland crew for a great site.

Often informative, a bit offbeat, but a pleasure to hear from other Demon fans, and what a season we had.

We’re getting very close!

Thanks hugely to Andy, Nasher, Whispering and all the crew and contributors.  You are a beacon and a lighthouse, sometimes amongst all the tossing and turning insanity on the sea of life.

Other times, you are just plain bloody good comic relief.

Well done all, I love the time I spend delving into DLand.

Thanks to all involved. I especially enjoy the podcasts plus all the serious and not so serious topics that seem to make their way to the forums each week.

Keep up the good work and looking forward to 2019.

Yes thanks to everyone involved in running and maintaining the site and to all of its contributors.

A great year. Got sent to the cooler twice thanks to Dr. Who but it was worth it!!

Go Demons

Thanks to the crew who keep us running ?‍♀️

My 10th year on the site, and its been the best one so far by a long way. Thanks to Andy and crew and all the mods and people that put the hard yards in to keep the site up and running. Its easily the best fan forum of all the football websites with the best user interface, graphics and appearance. (just drop over to Bomberblitz if you need a comparison fan site).

Looking forward to a great 2019.

WWS.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
