Im not angry Im just in shock. Unfortunately we have bought our worst footy at the wrong time.

WC have gone to work on us from losing to us last time. There pressure has been great and we have not bought the heat what so ever like the last 2 games,

But we will learn form this going forward next year.

The big question is who will kick our 1st goal and when?

Classic MFCSS by me but only Melbourne could make a prelim and dish up this sort of embarrassment.

Am sitting in a bar in HK with one other person watching the game.  He’s a West Coast supporter and he just left - presumably through boredom.

This is what being psychologically overwhelmed looks like. Much like last night. Everything goes badly, and everything looks worse. Second guessing, afraid of stuffing up. It’s horrible to watch, but these kids are only human. Best we can hope for is some way to avoid the scarring it could create. Oh, and the 2nd worse thing, Collingwood will thump Eagles next week.

As devo’d as I am - and as amazingly awful/insipid as we are... I’m curious

what will we learn?

what about structures ?

and

heartbreak was going to happen... in this way it’s uber surprising - AND NOT representative of how we play... so it’s an aberration.

we’re still a young young team - and tried to get on footywire for a breakdown - couldn’t find it.

i get its emotional - and surprising - and aiming to be a voice of sense making.

On the upside, I saved a fortune in airfare. Actually contemplated going west to see us roast the Eagles.

Imagine those poor souls who have had to endure this... At the ground... With 59,500 Eagles booing and laughing in their faces.

after round 23 2017 I changed my approach to matches.

So long as we put ourselves in a good position over the season I am happy. We needed to play finals.

I have been super calm all season and that hasn't changed this finals series. I am indifferent today, disappointed, but we have come a long way.

men vs boys.

Gutted. Adam Simpson picked apart the gameplan and we've got nothing.

Overawed not (just) out planned

We can't handle the ball at all. They are clean by hand and holding their feet.

We can't hold the ball or our feet, just ridiculous

They are neither mentally or physically there today.

The players are learning this year, to believe in themselves individually.

They are just learning this year, to believe in themselves as a team, as a collective.  but 'to believe in themselves', within the Melbourne footy Club, with its Win/Loss history under pressure of expectation,,, since the 70's,  so far is too big an ask, for them.

I think the big build up this week, the Fed square thing and everything thing else, has been too much for them.

A low key approach this week, I reckon in hindsight, might have worked better for us.

The big build up suits those with superior belief in themselves collectively,,, and those who are a wee bit shy about their chances,,, it will overawe them.

I think this is what we're seeing.

Let’s not let this debacle degrade us or define us

Many many positives from the season but mentally and physically overwhelmed on the big stage.  It happens.

We have come a long way.  Time to move on and look ahead to how and where we can improve.

They looked off in the warm up tbh, it's only gotten worse. I couldn't have imagined a worse performance, we should be 80 + points down.

I’ve been much the same since the Sydney game.

There should be a moratorium on judgement of what is said in this thread today. People are saying things they may not mean, myself included. Hold fire on attacking posters and remember that we are all hurting deeply right now.

They have taken away the hallmarks that have held us in good stead all year.  Time to get back to basics and earn some respect Melbourne.

At least we took two steps forward and one step backwards this season. Though we stepped into the smelliest maggot infested  turd possible.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
