Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Its def not over,

That's the main part, mate.  Yes, we're playing poorly and aren't playing as well as we have over the last 6 weeks.  But there is large room for improvement and this side of 2018 has it in them to do it mid-game, not next week.  If we get a sniff then we can win it, but we need to work on plenty of areas to get there.  Winning a few centre clearances would help.

This is the most pressure we’ve been under since Richmond and it’s showing.

We are making the same sorts of mistakes we did early this year. Structures are out, transition is too slow, kicking is poor.

We have more room for improvement than them but it’s going to take a big effort to get this done.

Collingwood's ball movement and positioning, combined with their pressure and willingness to harass and assist their teammates is undoing anything we try to throw back at them.  The pies are good and we need to either match them in the effort department or cross our fingers and hope that their endeavor drops off.  More of the same, and we're cooked.

Our players haven't adjusted to the tempo of the match.  Too many of them are playing as though there is an extra second or two you can hold the ball; you only get this time when playing against poorer teams.  This is as close to finals tempo as we've had all year.

Got to improve our field kicking, there was a moment in that quarter with about 10min to go where we had won a rare push in the back, we were I think 5-6 points down heading inside 50. I don’t know who it was but he kicked it to an unopposed Pies player. They rebounded and we didn’t touch it before they scored a goal. Completely lost our momentum.

I was really hoping we’d be even at half time, we had good chances to but fair go the pies have been wasteful. Our mids need to lift, this sort of game is the sort of pressure cooker that finals footy is going to be played under and the Pies midfield is handling better than us.

Gawns getting beaten but not badly, though anytime he seems to be winning the umPIES pluck our a free against him.

Need more from Petracca, Jones, Brayshaw, and Hogan.

Premiership quarter coming up, need to drag ourselves back in it.

1.  Put ANB on DeGoe and we have a chance. Close him down.

2.  We have lost structure through the spine.  Get it back.

T-Mac starting deep but also occasionaly pushing high to help out through the middle. Hogan true CHF and Pedders to CHB.

3.  Brayshaw into the middle.  Jones / Viney rotate off the bench.  Not enough clean heals in and around stoppages with Jones/Viney inside at same time.

Still in this chaps.

If Gus B and ANB can get the pill it will help. Bit worried about our lack of pressure and Hogan not presenting but we did win the quarter.

Will see who our real leaders are in the next 15 mins. If we want a flag this year we will have to win this game. We can still do it. are we hungry enough? Spago has been great. Trac needs to stamp himself in a game. Go Dees.

That was Pedersen.  He got the free, took ages to kick and when he did it was out to the flank for a Pies player to make uncontested.  I thumped my desk when it happened.  They transitioned through the middle and goaled.

Their pressure has been something we haven't encountered for a while, no doubt about it.  But we've absorbed it and have an opportunity to respond.  Let's hope we can do it.

Who would you rather?

Weid is a much smarter player...Pedders has lost his ability to halve contests when in the ruck this year.

We may have to run Tommy Mac in there today as he's not giving us much at the moment.

They’ve been better for sure but the throwing the umpires haven’t paid against and the high tackles the umpires miss like Smiths is a disgrace  7-13 against so usual, sick of it. Hopefully they don’t decide to even up the count when the game is over . But probably will..so predictable.

Anyway. Here’s hoping for an improvement. Go Dees....

We were 23 down this time last year so we got this in the bag!

And we weren't playing particularly well going in to half time that day either.  I remember us kicking a few late in the second to get us in the contest and then we ran over the top of them.

Has very similar tone to it this game, difference is we had the better of the umpiring that game. Let’s see if the even up comes

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
