I hate the filth ...

A 'friend' (filth supporter) put a taunting post on her FB page after Round 23 ... Hopefully the smile is wiped off her face on Monday night.

I will be in a corporate box on Monday and just found out I will be the only Demon supporter again. I was with the same group last year and took a great deal of pleasure with the end result. I hope its the same case on Monday.?

Great. We're in a no win situation again. Win and they'll say we're no good because we've beaten another injury ravaged team. Lose and they'll say we're no good because we lost to an injury ravaged team.

I'll still happily bank 4 points.

There are signs that we are not the only ones who anticipate a win for the Dees.

All that I have talked to in the past 48 hours - from those that are not Filth supporters - believe, and convincingly, too - that the MFC will win comfortably provided that on the day, the umpires stay outside of the game in terms of it being a 'big event' and wishing that the Filth  'stay in the game' from the first bounce at their (the umpires') discretion. The common thought is:

In the minds of those far too influential in the AFL, blockbusters like these should be hard won and tight. The consequences of a Filth loss will herald the demise of their season and hence, a potentially massive losses of crowds later on in the season leading to the finals. Of course, this is rubbish but it does beg the question: would they dare

Interesting that Vince played Jenkins against Adelaide, who is obviously a tall, and beat him well. If he could take a similar in the Pies forward line it would allow us to play a medium sized defender to replace Lever e.g. Wagner

Collingwood play a small-medium forward line apart from Cox who is too tall for Bernie.

Just read somewhere about Weed coming in and playing back.

Was that an idea from another poster or something confirmed from Goodwin?

Weid has never played back, he should surely be tried there at Casey first if at all.

Have to say as well as we're playing we have had a great run playing against sides with keys out....even North were missing Tarrant for that match arguably the most important member of their defence....

Tin foil hat but believable

Umpires reverse tanking decisions to keep a team in the game?

You know what we need? An umpire rating system. I know it would be highly contentious and emotive but with enough numbers you could maybe account for selection bias of those team's members who had been "dudded" by a decision. You could use frees for/against by each umpire. For someone half capable with stats and maybe R, something based just on frees paid by each umpire and to which team, based on the result, would not be hard. The rating system would be diabolical but would add a layer anyway.

You could weight the system for perceived bias like the size of a team, its potential drawing power and thus gate receipts (follow the money)

Hocking is all well and good to say he'll look at the Eagles crowd influence, but, well, he would say that wouldn't he.

Not that I would be able to devote the time and other resources to such a proposal as 'an umpire rating system' it is an extremely good idea to clarify much that fascinates us all. It may even have secondary data implications more widely reviewed than by DL followers alone. On face value, a great suggestion, timbo.

If one reads the cue from the Jones interview it will probably be Joel Smith or Wagner coming into defence.

If Weideman plays it will be at the expense of Tim Smith and I'd be shocked if he didn't play forward.

WEEDS SMITH GARLETT all in (Speculation)

FOR  T SMITH, LEVER, HANNAN ( ALL INJ)

Anyone else a fan??

Not quite, we cannot play Weeds until he shines. Garlett might be good against a slow Filth backline. I'd just like to see Pedo in from the bench to rattle a few precious bones and kick a few goals. He could make a rucking dent in Spargo if the opportunity arose. Not sure about Hannan's injury - it has been a well-kept secret.

Not a bad interchange bench to choose from.  Who to leave out?

Smith out equals Pedders in for me.

Smith or Hunt for Lever I am guessing. Depends on wether they want Hibs to play Levers role.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
